Is this supposed to be a serious version of The Boys?

It's based off a comic by Mark Millar(creator of the Kingsmen and Kick-Ass, among others).

From the wikipedia article en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiter%27s_Legacy_(comic)
The second generationChloe Sampson – Sheldon and Grace's daughter. [3] [7] She inherited superhuman abilities from her parents, but as a woman in her twenties the beginning of the series, [43] has not followed in their footsteps as a superhero, preferring instead a socialite's life of nightclubs and drugs. She believes she is frequently in conflict with her mother because her mother is irritated by Chloe's nonconfrontational nature, and instead engages in charity work, thinking it will please her, but Chloe's brother Brandon believes she cynically participates in indiscriminate endorsement work for personal gain and to curry favor with their mother. Chloe also laments how perfect her parents are, regretting that she will never be as "cool" as her father or as attractive as her mother. She prefers dating "disappointing bad boys" rather than superheroes because the latter would be akin to "dating her father", and according to her therapist, she does not maintain proper relationships because she always compares her relationships to her parents' idealized marriage. [24] According to Millar, Chloe and Brandon are in their twenties, and live completely in the shadow of their parents. He created them because, as he explains, "I like the idea of exploring what it would be like to grow up as the kids of the two most famous and beloved people on the planet. This side of things has a very Postcards From The Edge feel and there's enormous tension between them all." [43] As the series progresses, she and her boyfriend, Hutch, become fugitives after the other superheroes, led by Walter and Brandon, murder her parents, [26] and the two hide in Australia while raising their gifted son, Jason. [15] She possesses a sonic scream with which she can shatter durable materials, [31] and a degree of invulnerability that allows her body to easily survive impact with vehicles traveling at high speed. [26] Other abilities she has displayed include the ability to travel to the Moon and survive in the vacuum of space, and the ability to melt objects at long-range, which she uses in issue 5 to disable the rifles carried by a troop of soldiers attacking her son, and telekinesis, which she uses in the same issue to physically repel a large number of her pursuers. [17]

Now that I've watched the first episode, I'm more impressed than I expected to be. Very engrossing. Pretty good character development and excellent special effects (especially fight scenes). Nice armored truck scene with a superwoman beating the crap out of Utopian's son.

Movie grade stuff, especially the later big fight with the Blackstar baddy.

They've also done a decent job of establishing relevance from the 1920's to current, which is obligatory for a younger audience than me.

The key theme (based on first episode) seems to be the challenge of holding to the Code (no killing, always helping, never leading, allowing free will). Of standing for the ideal and not the convenient or even the necessary, even in a world that no longer believes in what they do. Just taking out the supervillains and the worst of the criminals, but not trying to fix society, when they could take control and fix a lot of things in the world. But then they'd be gods and we'd all be their subjects and free will would have been lost.

So the heroes HAVE to follow the Code above everything else, or so the patriarch (Utopian) preaches. Very Superman'ish in that regard. But it kind of works for me.

Some odd out-of-sequence stuff due to time/reality shifting. That was a bit confusing during the big fight. But it started to come together nicely by the end of the episode.

Looking forward to more. I'm going to savor it by limiting myself to an episode a night. Gives me time to think about it.

In any case, it's got great potential based on the start.  Hope they will do a good job of fleshing out all the characters, inside and out. But based on the opening, the super strength fight scenes are extraordinary.

Oh yeah, and lots of super-strong females, some with a good heart, some not. Some just screwed up.  Some running away from their powers. Makes for a good story. Strongly recommended.

Leslie did a great job with the role, especially in episode 6. She basically embodied the "Team Mom" trope, from her interactions here and earlier with Brandon. She was also motherly in her scenes with Janna aka Ghost Beam as well as the other younger heroes. Unlike Sheldon/Utopian, who only knows people by their code names, Grace is the heart of the Union(and the show) and I hope to hell that her fate in the show isn't similar to how she ended up in the comics(though sadly odds are it will be).

Some great superwoman stunt scenes.  Leslie's character lands hard in one scene and jars all the emergency vehicles.

A bit of a spoiler from Ep 4...

I chuckled when Chloe asked this guy, who was asking for her influence to get him into the Union,  if he can take a punch.

He figures she's talking about can he handle being a superhero.

So naturally, he shrugs and confidently says yes.

At which point she punches him right through a brick wall.

That's Chloe... the very hot supermodel... and daughter of Utopian. Superstrength is her major power, and she really likes to hit people.

Yeah, a good scene with the punch from Chloe. An explosive entry into and exit out of the wall there for the unsuspecting guy. The scene where Chloe is late for her modelling shoot after she has an all-nighter on the town, and her agent has a go at her is also well played out.
I just started watching this on Netflix last night. Chloe looks like she'll be the uber-star of the series with the "I can do what the hell I want, and no-one can stop me" vibe from her. (And she is so damn right.)
A Legacy binge coming up here on Netflix this weekend!

Halfway through the series.  Pretty funky.  Have not been disappointed yet.  Some grade A superpower usage.  Great flying and sueprstrength scenes.

These vids won't give much away.

The show may be a decent show. But all in all, as far as “super strength” goes? If you saw the trailers, you’ve seen every scene. Pretty disappointing really.

If you watch only for the super strength scenes, then maybe. I suppose you could say that the The Boys as well. Or Justice League. Or Wonder Woman.

But some of us like a good story that's built around the powers and how they affect people. Jupiter does a good job of that and is very entertaining, even engrossing.

Now that I've finished it, I'm eager for Season 2.

I really liked this show. I can't wait for Season 2 (fingers crossed that it happens, which I don't think has been confirmed yet).

Do I wish that there was more Lady Liberty action? Of course! I'm a member of this forum, aren't I? What we got was good but I'm hopeful that we'll get more in Season 2 (Some of her taking on an army of mobsters in the 1930s would be sweet

I am a bit mixed on the series so far. The reveal at the end came way too late. I felt there was excessive filler and whining. For example, all the Utopian's son seemed to do was whine and be a super-powered emo. A good discussion or argument to help advance the plot or actually talk about the ideas being pushed about how the world is changing and they need to change with it. A good, heartfelt debate on whether superheroes should be allowed to kill or not was really needed. You could have chopped those flashbacks scenes in half and not lost a single thing.

They also never really explain why being in the Union of Justice is so great. The new generation spends all their time complaining about how there are too many rules and the villains they fight don't abide by any rules. It would be nice to see some reasons why they should even stay in the Union. For example, the Union is the only "sanctioned" superhero organization by the government. So, anyone using their powers outside the Union is either a vigilante or villain, and subject to arrest and imprisonment by the government. None of that is explained.
