Getting away from the bodybuilding world for a moment, here's another professional sportswoman who provides very interesting proof. This is up and coming tennis star Eugenie Bouchard, who I watched recently take out Maria Sharapova at the Australian Open. These pictures are all from a google search.

She might make funny sounds when she plays tennis, but standing 6'3" tall in her bare feet, and carrying some hard-earned muscle, she has a pretty high superhuman quotient in my book. Put her in some typical 3" heels and she towers over most people at 6'6".

I like the light side fit babes, but I never understand why they have to use those fake tans during the shows. Unless they are natural dark skinned I will vote for the pale one every time :)

Well, I'm Australian. We don't have many pale girls here, and I prefer a girl with a tan. Seeing as I started this thread, and am the main contributor to it, I'm afraid there's a very real chance you'll see more of them here! For this, I make no apology.

And they use fake tans during shows because it makes their muscle tone easier to see.

Its Body Building tradition. Pretty much all the men and women do it.

1. body bulding culture grew a lot out of beach culture- and the tan was the big symbol of it back in the 30s and 40s made them look they just came from the beach. I live near venice beach and you still see elements of that here. They wear swimsuits after all.

2. People still think Tans Signify health. Actually A tan is pretty much a form of a minor skin injury but well-its a myth. Body building is about health.

3. Joe Wielder Likes Tans. A lot of the muscle and fitness industry is still to a suprisingy degree controled by one very old guy.

4, To a degree it helps make the muscles stand out. a lot of times they will darken the low spots in say the abs and lighten the high spots-well done tanning can make the muscles pop more for the camera-you can do this actually by doing a reverse tan and making them look pale.

I should have pointed out that I picked Gracyanne because of her incredible abs. Both these girls have very different physiques, and I'm not sure you can really compare the two. But thanks for sharing!

Regarding tan vs. pale: 20+ years ago my family moved from Washington State to California. We couldn't help notice an oddity at the grocery store: chickens in Washington are sold with ashen white skin. Chickens in California are sold with a remarkably goldenrod hue. What appeals to you is all to do with the flavor of your local weather.

At the end of the day we all have our own tastes in women. If we didn't it would get kinda boring, wouldn't it? All women would look the same. I would like to point out that I don't appreciate people saying stuff like 'not my kinda girl' because I don't see this site as.a competition for who has the best taste. Each individual has their own idea of what makes a woman beautiful, and I'd appreciate it if people didn't knock mine, because I'd never be so rude to point it out if I found someone else's idea of beauty to be unattractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Please remember that!

I like looking for pictures of these girls where they haven't been painted brown for competition. Googling this one, when you see her in pictures with others (including other female athletes), she looks to be about four feet tall.
