A few Images 3 - The Best Trilogies Come In Three

25 Mar 2021 00:22 - 25 Mar 2021 00:32 #70813 by shadar
More Laura Vandervoort... she was gorgeous during her teenage years, when she wound up on Smallville, and she's a different kind of gorgeous now. Probably 17-20 years between these images.

Pretty amazing (and a lot of the right exercise and the right foods) to age, change and morph with the years and somehow wind up even hotter at 35.

First... younger Laura, likely just before Smallville

Second... current time Laura, age 35

Indeed, Fats, she looks very Kryptonian.

Must remember that they are a genetically-enhanced race of superbeings. If you control your own genome at that level, why wouldn't you make everyone stunningly gorgeous AND able to bend steel in their bare hands?

We simple humans struggle to find examples among our own people who kind of look sort-of Kryptonian. But we will never measure up the real thing.

Or so my "in universe" thinking goes.

Hi there cutey, I'm new to this planet.  Why does everyone cover their bodies?  What is this noisy smelly thing you are in?  What does this stick do that you are holding?

Nice one, Sarge.

Indeed, if one comes from a planet of physically-perfect superbeings, who have no need of clothing for warmth or protection, would the custom of wearing much of anything have developed?  Especially when flying, which should of course be done au naturale.

Or maybe like Kryptonians, clothing would be very different, or like Velorians, where it's kind of optional depending on the social situation.

Which reminds me of one of the bright moments in the 1984 Supergirl movie, when Kara (Helen Slater) is asked why she is wearing a costume, she says indigently, "These are my clothes."

Kryptonians don't wear costumes. Just interesting clothing.

Some interesting art from years ago... two different styles, but both impressive.

Supergirl is portrayed here with the modern blonde hairstyle and of course her super-powered body as she carries Lex around in his car single-handedly and effortlessly as his personal chauffeuse.

Back when I read the book that image came from, it became apparent that the artist didn't know how to draw boobs. This drawing was one of his best, but others were kind of funny.

But then, who REALLY knows what Kryptonian boobs are supposed to look like? Should they be like very perky human boobs (my vote), or greatly enlarged pectoral muscles (like some drawings in this book).

Anyway, this particular image is a great piece of genre art.

It was the first time I had seen Supergirl in her own hardback comic book in the Elseworld series back in the 1990's. This wasn't a comic, but a vinyl-covered comic book. (Maybe I am pushing it calling it a hardback, it was back in the 90's so memory is not as great).

Apart from being impressed with this new robust format, I was also impressed with the artist's robust portrayal of Kara.
Another few shots from the series here. I thought the artist did a great job with Kara, showing her strong and athletic and well-proportioned. (Not so much with Barbara Gordon as Batgirl, but hey, I'm a SuperKara fan!).
E.T.A. perhaps the artist was portraying a fully-blooded female Krypronian on Earth in comparison with a human in a dark costume.

Another couple of very different SG frames. Different artist and different personality for Kara, who had discarded any ideas about disguises and was just herself. I was tickled by the pool table scene. Nice "S" indeed.

I really like this costume (except for the boots). Simple, elegant, and exceedingly powerful. Wish some girls would cosplay this version

Also, I didn't know we got an aged version of Kara in Legion of Superheroes Millenium.
I have to say, she aged pretty gracefully.

POWERGIRL UNDERCOVER

Michelle smiled;

 "Of course I'm not Powergirl!"

"Do you really think because I have these great Big Boobs and long blonde hair that I am really her?

"Do you really think I can fly and lift tons of stuff like her because of my large chest? Don't be so silly!"

She then gave me a knowing wink with her sparkling blue eyes...

POWERGIRL WAS UNDERCOVER

"What makes you think that? Of course I'm not really Michelle! Just because we share long blonde hair with a large Great Power Ches..." Her voice drifted off into a whisper.

'Ok, you caught me, fair enough, let me transform my costume and we can go somewhere private to talk.'

Then she gave a wicked smile
"Soooo,....do you like heights?....."
"No? Better hold on tight here then...."

That's the game! If you work out her secret identity, don't go blurting it out to her and showing off, or she will be working out and showing off on YOU.

It's rare that you meet lifetime friends, especially if you think that you might not survive for too long.  It might be worth it if you enjoy it enough.  Could they be modern day Valkyries?

Lois would have to concentrate here. Could she really see through the wall if she wanted?
"Damn it, Lois" she said to herself "Just concentrate on the surface and it will happen! "

The lights in the room dimmed and shook against the wall as a surge of energy flowed through Lois's very own eyes.

"This is amazing! It's really working!" she thought to herself as she focussed on her twin beams of Ultra-Powered vision.
Lois laughed to herself, "This is so easy! Everything is so, so EASY! "

Looking at the above pictures of Lois after she was coached with the knowledge she could use these new powers such as x-ray vision so easily, "Poor" Lucille would never have known of these amazing extra abilities she had yet to discover.
She couldn't have picked up a magazine with Ultra Woman on the cover, or even a Training Manual to learn of the new fantastic powers she had bestowed upon her...

All Lucille really knew was her superstrength such as ripping mail van steel doors off their hinges with a shrug, sending laser cannons rocketing into deep space with a flick of her forearms, running at superspeed to confront Clark, being showered in a spray of otherwise deadly bullets to her chest and laughing it off to her sister, blowing Clark away with a pout of her mouth from 30 yards, boasting no jail on Earth would ever hold her...
Not a bad swap for missing out on the x-ray vision, and the super-hearing and (maybe) the flying.
A shame it had to come to a close so soon. :(

Here is one of Teri Hatcher showing off in her 'civvies'.

She is basically saying "Hey! Who needs a costume and a secret identity disguise when you have powers like these you can use all day long at work in the office?"
