Girl Power movie from The Rye..

Girl Power movie from The Rye.. was created by Rye
Hello all!

A lot of you probably have no idea who I am, or some might know me as that guy that creates those disgusting heroine peril videos  ... or maybe you saw my latest Creation Superior Girl 1984 and thought hey! This Rye character isn't so bad after all! :P

Either way I have been tossing around the idea of doing a girl power movie for a couple years now and after a few chats with Lfan I am going for it. This idea is in it's earliest stage so I don't have much done besides the basic plot which is nothing super original but should be fun:

PG-13 rated

- Superheroine (Not sure who just yet, but for the sake of this plot we will call her Kara) has a typical life of any beautiful young girl with mega strength and powers.. foiling evil plots, saving citizens from dire straights, and the planet for that matter. She also has a best friend (Who we will name Cali for now) who is equally as gorgeous but no powers. Cali has kept Kara's secret from the day they met and wishes nothing more than to one day be a heroine herself.

As the story progresses Kara proves why she is the greatest heroine of all time to the viewers. We also learn that Cali has a secret crush on Kara that she finally reveals but is quickly rejected. She keeps pursuing Kara who decides that enough is enough and cuts off all ties with her. Cali doesn't take this very well and vows to one day destroy Kara..

Some sort of event happens (Not sure what just yet) that nearly kills Cali but she ends up with Super powers that rival Kara's. Cali becomes consumed with her new found abilities and decides that she wants to be the greatest heroine of all time and begins exterminating villains all over the city. She completely ignores the Superheroine code of ethics which quickly gain the attention of her former best friend.

We soon jump to Kara confronting Cali and a big epic display of girl power vs girl power explodes on the screen.

I plan on having Cali winning the first encounter and is defeated by Kara later in the movie leaving our original Superheroine victorious.

I don't plan on this being a movie where superheroines just run around using their powers for an hour straight. I really like character development, sub plots, and depth when doing a bigger movie. Plenty of the good stuff mixed in with a story to peak your interest is the goal. I have a STRONG preference to hiring a talented cast, and not just girls who look the part. I personally have a hard time believing anyone is a Superheroine if they can't act, no matter how good they look.

This is just one idea that could radically change before I green light this movie but I would love to get your thoughts and suggestions!

Sounds awesome Rye! Hopefully you'll have some nice steel bending/gun crushing/bullets bouncing off her type of action. Super-breath and flight power of course. Heavy lifting feats. The problem with most superheroine sites is that the ladies might look good but they really don't demonstrate enough superpowers. And when they do, the effects look mediocre at best. Oh yeah and she should have a really nice costume.

Excellent news :) If you're directing (while I'm not a fan of the peril genre, I'm certainly familiar with your work and the high quality/production values they have, as well as high praise), I would buy it on the strength of that synopsis alone

Really looking forward to hearing more about this in the months to come :)

Peace and best of luck with the project.

That certainly sounds like a movie I would buy, with plenty of super powers on display (super strength, speed, invulnerability, heat vision) Would you be looking at Ashley Rose for one of the parts? I think she could make a great villain. Pleased to hear your thinking of doing this and I hope it works out.

Sounds good. Some plot suggestions to fill in the gaps:

We can easily explain the Kara/Cali relationship if we assume Kara acquired her powers somehow rather than just has them inherently. Let's say Kara has an origin similar to Superman, except she isn't automatically super-powered. Her 'Jor-El' style father sends her to Earth, alongside a gift (a Chris Reeve style crystal shard, perhaps?) which will bestow superpowers upon the adult Kara (blah blah blah, advanced Kryptionian technology, blah blah blah, genetic enhancement...) to protect her against those primitive Earthlings she must live amongst. Cali knows what Kara used to be normal, and when Kara rejects Cali, Cali figures she can win Kara back by becoming super the same way Kara did. She tricks Kara into revealing the existence of Jor-El's gift, and its location...

Definitely like where the idea is going Rye. I'd make Cali maybe Kara's kinda nerdy, mousy science friend with glasses. That would make the contrast for when she gets super powers all the more better as she becomes much more confident with her appearance. That and I'm big transformation fan. Can't wait to see what you cook up. Keep us up to date.

I like it! Thanks Five_red ;)

I do love the nerdy types with glasses which is the alter-ego idea for Kara... I am actually leaning towards a Cali who is very athletic previous to her transformation. Maybe even someone who is a very skilled fighter which makes her girl power self that much more threatening to Kara who has always depended on her powers but clearly has more experience with them.

Thanks everyone, keep the suggestions coming!

Things that are awesome:

- Extra long transformation sequences featuring close-ups on various body parts, replayed from multiple angles (hair growing! legs getting longer! boobs magically expanding!)

- Playful first time experimentation with superpowers. Extended "OMG I can't believe I've actually got superpowers!" kinds of scenes.

- Condesending, effortless beatdown of pathetic mortal bad guy, followed by kiss-on-the-cheek-then-wink-and-fly-away rescue of geeky fanboy male protagonist.

- Sleazy & inappropriate camera angles during otherwise dramatic scenes.

** and my two cents: I think the "alien girl from outer space" angle is played out, and much prefer the "regular human girl becomes super" scenarios. Going with your basic idea: Say that Cali discovers that her best friend Kara actually isn't an alien as she'd claimed her whole life, but that her powers actually come from some hidden source she'd been keeping all to herself. That would play perfectly into Cali's motivations IMO. Just throwing ideas out since you asked. :)

Personally, my fantasy for this kind of movie would be to have Ashley Rose play the superheroine (just because I want to see a movie where she's super, but doesn't get her ass kicked for the entire film) and have Carly Quinn play the villainess/evil superheroine (just because I really want to see Carly in a spandex outfit similar to what Ashley usually wears). Of course, I'd also be all right with Carly as the heroine and Ashley as the villainess. Either way would be a fun change of pace from the roles they usually play. Good luck!

So signed, if you make the power source temporary you can even add further transformation sequences and don't even need to think about a way to depower Cali at the end. Kinda reminds me of my favorite ubergirl story and now I'm wondering if the Cali of that story was supposed to get evil thanks to S... 'Kara' not telling her about the source of her powers. Too bad there's no continuation... yet?

One request: don't bother with a wig. It was implausible in the comics, and it looks just silly in real life (unless you have money to burn on a really expensive wig and time to fix it right). Just get a pair of horn rimmed glasses and put her hair up in a bun. :)

I understand that all tastes are different, and there's no right or wrong answer. Personally, while Ashley is a beautiful girl, she doesn't have the innocent look that I prefer, and her body type isn't my favorite either, so I'd prefer someone else. But to each his own. :)

Rye,

I am also familiar with your work. I love Ashley Rose, but would want somebody different. Cali makes me think of Cali Logan, who would be awesome if you got her. In regards to Carly Quinn, I would love to see her play a good girl for once.

Well I am planning on using an unknown to play the heroine for sure. Cali Logan is great but she is a tad older than I want this superheroine to appear.

I actually have someone in mind that I personally think would be grrrreat. She is blond, 19, gymnast, martial artist, cheerleader, and professional dancer and actress... just to name a few of her skills

Well here is who I am thinking about. I have already screen tested her and she is a great actress a side from being a skilled gymnast, cheerleader, dancer, and 2nd degree black belt.

Thoughts?

Well I am glad people like her look because I am fairly certain she will be:

Madison Sky (aka Skyfire)

The costume will be a hybrid of Ms Marvel and Powergirl. Something really close to this but with more red accents I think: wardogs101.deviantart.com/art/The-Marvel...Power-Girl-190360508

I am thinking about changing the characters around a bit and making her friend just that.. a friend.. The other Uber girl will be a rival reporter who makes it her lifes goal in discovering Skyfire's true identity...

Thoughts?
