These are the most recent pics I coud find of both Michelle Ryan & Mae Whitman.

In this interview she pretty much confirms it without actually saying anything (she did say NBC, "major" and it was sci-fi. Interestingly, she said she read for the title character a couple of times.

With Eick at the helm and his BSG ties and her "death" on the show recently, would seem logical that its a very good posibility. From what little I've read about Sara's character and her scenes, I think she'd make a pretty good psycho Robochick.....

Here is the interview....she talks about the "pilot" about 3:20 into it:

I don't mean to rain on anybody's parade, but the still need to cast three more series regular roles. Production is set to start on March 19. I'm skeptical of them meeting thst date. Is that part of Sarah just for the pilliot or is she ment to b a recurring role series regular?

Another one down....

Molly Price ("Third Watch") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, a re-imagining of the 1970s series of the same name. She'll play Ruth Treadwell, who's described in the casting notice as follows: "50s, tough, very smart with a "don't mess with me" vibe. She's head of intel and logistics for Jonas. She explains to Jaime that her bionic surgery also endowed Jaime with built-in programming for split-second reflexes and combat training, and advises Jaime to stop thinking and just be. Because she's respectful, reassuring and straightforward, we get the feeling we can trust Ruth."

Where did you here this? Production is set to start this coming Monday. Does anybody here see any bad sign that BW will be a failure if it's picked up? I'm not into supersition, but I think that shooting the show ( that's if they don't move production elsewhere if the show is picked up) in Vancouver is a bad sign. Now, I'm not against Hollywood going overseas to save a buck, I believe in free markets. Notice right now that alomost all the Hollywood produced shows right now shot in Canada are for cable,n ot the networks. The only ones being being shot up there right now for a regular network are Supernatural and Smallville and they're both for CW. ABC's Men In Trees was shooting in BC, but due to low rating won't likley return in the fall. What I'm trying to say is, big network shows shot north of the border tend to be, at least in recent years commercial and critical faliures. Bad luck or poorly produced shows?
Another bad sign that BW won't last is lack of possitive buzz on the net about it. A lot of people treat the idea of a new BW series as a joke. On this forum is the only place where people seem excited about the show.

I ment shows for the major US tv networks, not cable like SCIFI. I don't watch BG on a regular basis, but I do know its great. A lot of those cable dramas shot in Canada are not very good. I've seen most of them. The Stargate shows, 4400 ect, ect. BG is the exception of the norm. I'm more worried that people will remember the old series and think the new one is corny and not watch it. If it fails, it not only be a big failure for NBC9( the really want to replicate the success of Heroes) but also David Eick himself. If BW fails, his critics will lable him a one trick pony. He dosn't want to seen as the next Chris Carter, who created the X-Files , but later failed at everything else.

Well i'm hoping if the acting is good and the plots are good, people will watch it. Many of the younger generation won't even have watched the original, which is 30 years old. I'm interested in who they will cast as Jamie's love interest, because I think that could be crucial. If they want this series to be character driven, as Michelle Ryan says in her interview, good chemistry will be needed between her and whoever they cast. I think the relationship between Jamie and Becca could be key too, I don't know anything about Mae Whitman, but her acting credentials look good and IMHO Michelle Ryan is a good actress (I may be a lone voice here) so i'm hoping they can pull this off. Fingers crossed.

Dunno of the correlation of failed series with Vancouver. I think each should be weighed on its own merits. Mostly I think comes down to cost as for the reason to shoot in Canada which I would imagine is cheaper which allows for

a) tight budgets
b) more allocation of production $$$ for SFX
c) both

I don't think its coicdence that effect heavy shows like Supernatural Smallvile and BSG are in Vancouver. Might free up more $$$ for FX. As for Men in Trees, I think scenery coulda been driving point as much of the show is shot outdoors.

Another reason for shooting in Canada could be Eick's familiarity with it due to BSG. Could be a positive. As for the stigma of Vancouver-filmed shows, I cannot say as its only been fairly recent that there has been a big push to shoot there. Wasn't X-Files filmed in Vancouver? I think that was a success....

Another bad sign that BW won't last is lack of possitive buzz on the net about it. A lot of people treat the idea of a new BW series as a joke. On this forum is the only place where people seem excited about the show.

I think a good amount of bad postings are somewhat due to that cryptic description of the show when it was first announced. "metaphor and social commentary on todays working woman" or something like that? Whiskey...Tango...Foxtrot!! I mean several of the boards I read people don't even know of the parallels to the old show which it looks like they've (smartly) gone back to. If its written well and placed in a good time slot, it'll do well. Time will tell....

I'm not against Eick shooting in Vancouver. What I'm I'm saying is alot of big network shows shot there recently have failed. TV production in La has in fact increased in recnet years. Mos to the show on the big netorks shoot in LA. By shooting in Vancouver, BW is going against a more recent trend. If picked up, BW could move production elsewhere. I htink i read on a web page for a casting site, that Bw was going to shooting in Valley Villiage, CA. Mistak or could this mean, that if the show is picked up prduction is going to move elsewhere?
If the BW is put in a bad timeslot and the critics hate it, thwe show will not last long. Rumor has it will air after Heroes. If that is true, NBC will promote the hell out of it this summer. They need a strong superher-type to run after Heroes. The question will really be regardless how good or bad BW is, will the Heroes fans stick around to watch it?

I belong to a Michelle Ryan Yahoo Group. Somebody there posted a link to a new site dedicated to the posible new BW series. Most of the info posted are things we already have read elsewhere, but there is an article where series co-creator Laeta whatever-her-greek-sounding-name is talk a little about the project and how it relates to the new BSG series on SCFI.
Here's the link:
www.alex7000.net/index.html
Also, somwhere I saw a clip of Michelle acting in comady skit whtih Mr. Bean aka Rowan Atkinson for UK Comedy Relief Special which aired on March 16. Ryan does not have a lot of lines, but she does get punched in the face at the end of the skit! I don't have a link.
Try Using Google, go to groups, type Michelle Ryan. Good luck, it's a funny skit.

OK, they's all set it looks like:

"THE BIONIC WOMAN (NBC) - Miguel Ferrer ("Crossing Jordan") and Chris Bowers ("Rescue Me") have landed the final principal roles on the drama pilot, a re-imagination of the 1970s series of the same name. Bowers will play Dr. Eric Masters, who's described in the casting notice as follows: "Early-Mid 30's, good-looking, sexy, likeable and devoted. He is Jaime's supportive boyfriend of two months who already knows she is the one. As a young prodigy (finished college at age 15 and became a surgeon at 22) he's a genius in his field - bionics - and the only one capable of performing the illegal, complex surgeries the government has been experimenting with. When Jaime nearly dies in a car accident, Eric doesn't hesitate using bionic surgery on her, even though this means going against his superiors and breaking every rule in the book. His innovative behavior and past deeds make him a target of deadly Sarah Corvus."

Ferrer then is set as Jonas Bledsoe - "50s-60's, forceful and not above lying to get what he wants. He is the ruthless leader of the secret government agency that turned Jaime into a Bionic Woman. Though furious with Eric for wasting $50 million worth of classified, illegal technology on "some girl," Jonas decides to use Jaime to track down and retrieve the other Bionic creations who escaped. Topping his list of fugitives is insane, deadly Sarah Corvus, whose violent break-out and subsequent revenge streak haunts Jonas to this day. After using unscrupulous means to manipulate Jaime into joining his organization, Jonas agrees to her terms and we get the feeling he will treat her with respect and honesty from now on." Ferrer's involvement is in second position to his "Jordan" duties however it's understood he could play both roles concurrently."

Looks like the pilot filming start also got pushed back to March 26th, so looks like everything is set to roll.

As for the casting, dunno about Bowers' body of work, having never seen him that I can recall, but Miguel Ferrer (Point of No Return, The Stand) seems like the manipulating head honcho like Bledsoe is described as.

Is anybody here worried about Laeta Kalogridis's involvment with BW? She has a poor Hollywood track record. She's listed as a series co-creator as well as an EP. I trust both Eick and Heller to be compendent, but not her. She said she was a fan of the original series. Her next movie that she helped write, Pathfinder comes out in three weeks ( to theatres) and has little or no promotion. I read a very bad review of it on a site from New Zealand where it was already released. If the show is picked up and turns out to be very bad, could it mostly her fault?
