INT BEDROOM

A very neat bedroom. An Alarm Clock goes off at 6:07.

A hand swiftly turns it off. Its Lisa PHYSLER, 28, an Olympic athlete fit woman with a smile on her face. This smile rarely leaves but rarely changes her monotone affect. She has the kind of striking red hair that one is not quite sure if its natural or from a bottle, but kind of suspect the latter.

She gets up.

INT BEDROOM

Lisa puts on an athletic top. She grabs headphones and turns them on.

NARRATOR 1(will see the second later), a woman's voice comes on as if narrating an audiobook.

NARRATOR

Knight of the Garden Hedge by Castor Blanken

INT KITCHEN

Lisa stands in a kitchen and cooks two eggs. She chops up two and a half tomatoes with a knife and puts them in. The house has style somewhere between nerd chic and nerd normal. Notably there's a poster for the book and movie version of Knight of the Garden Hedge, which seems to be something of a thing.

she keeps listening

NARRATOR 1

It has been said for a king, one can either be extremely busy or not busy at all. One can let the element of statecraft and governance take up all of one's time, or live a life of relative carefree leisure, of hunts, of balls, of parties. It has been espoused that fundamentally as long as the latter is not too excessive in debauch or expense, things do not necessarily change all that much to the common folk and even the life of the nobility can be very similar without Royal excess. That wise Advisers can help grow the flowers of society, while the state of things handle the rest

EXT HOUSE

Lisa lives in a house in the south, and looks it older for it. Deep in the country, but there is a big yard.

Outside is an ab raiser bar. She places her legs in and starts to do vertical situps. It pulls up her shirt revealing the kind of abs people spend 1000s of hours and deny themselves any carbohydrate to get.

NARRATOR 1

King Randolgh the Third had taken the former path of life from a very early stage, perhaps to prove this wrong. His kingdom of Terris was not particularly large, but of decent size and scale, and he dedicated himself to making sure it was well tended and managed in all aspects. He reorganized its military and defenses and built several fortresses along it's frontiers, especially upon its border with Yamat which it had engaged in a fierce war 50 years prior( (but he had the good sense despite several provocations not to continue it).

EXT HOUSE

Lisa does more vertical sit ups

NARRATOR 1

He worked on the construction of several canal projects, which helped the eastern regions become more sufficient in agriculture, helping survey the route. He worked on opening up a small mountain range at the edge of his land to mines...which while less profitable when set up did produce good quantities of copper and iron.

EXT HOUSE

Lisa does more vertical situps.

NARRATOR 1

He worked to help organize the three areas that could be considered cities. He frequently toured his towns to learn what may ail the common man.

EXT HOUSE

Lisa does side situps.

NARRATOR 1

He picked, as best could be determined, wise sheriffs and judges to fairly administer the justice therin. He did in fact do much. He was a tireless man of much energy expressed, with a tireless devotion to his land.

INT DINING ROOM

It's a room that is clearly designed as a dining room but has no table. Lisa Comes up brushing off her face, she goes to a huge-huge guinea pig enclosure

NARRATOR 1

And this extended to his Children, in who he worked to instill as much of this spirit as practical. He worked to teach his scions much of the art of state management and the practice of leading men...but more importantly listening to them.

She smiles at it and sees a Guinea pig come up to it. they kind of play, and she looks genuinely happy for it.

INT KITCHEN

Lisa gathers a bunch of pellets for the guinea pig and greens. She brings it over to the cage.

NARRATOR 1

However he had himself four children. His oldest Boy Micheal listened wisely to his fathers lessions and did his best to internalize them, and had the makings of a great king himself, if perhaps with slightly less physical zeal thanks to a foot slightly club footed.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa comes out and starts running. There is a track around the backyard, and she starts running around it - its a big back yard but a backyard.

NARRATOR 1

But His other three Children had to live with the knowledge-that fate had brought them close to this but not all the way. r.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa keeps running.

NARRATOR 1

His Second Child Cedric as was common enough was chosen half by choice half by pleasure to seek a life in the church, which he did with perhaps some prompting.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa is still running.

NARRATOR 1

His Third David at a fairly early age fell in love, honest love with a daughter of a baron...

Ext backyard

Lisa does jump-rope super high and fast.

NARRATOR 1

...And married at a young age, and made the king of not to many more years then 50 a grandfather

INT GARAGE

Lisa pulls out a bow and a quiver of arrows

NARRATOR

But his last child his only daughter Sarah...

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa starts to shoot arrows-she shoots about 10 in rapid succession. 9 hits 1 miss. She frowns at the miss and looks satisfied at the hits.

NARRATOR

She wanted to be a knight.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa pulls the arrows out

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa shoots 10 more arrows. All hits. She smiles

NARRATOR 1

Now it should be said Sir Randolph lived in an age where this was past its due, if perhaps not by much. Things like Feudalism existed, but in soft mews. Cannon had been developed muskets if primitive and inaccurate, while crossbows made old fashioned armors a moment perhaps, but not much longer.

Sarah was quite smart enough to realize of this, and had little delusions of it-but the thought still came to her. So the thought-a fantasy perhaps, a tale told by an old men who came to her father court, a passing bar, a woman town, these things filled her

INT BEDROOM

Lisa buttons up a business suit smiling at herself. She takes a moment to rub her abs.

NARRATOR 1

Head with mania dreams and fancies the idea of a charging woman on a horse helping the land to help right make might, and give justice and mercy to all the all the land. To be a champion, a hero, an inspiration

EXT. ROAD

Lisa drives her car

NARRATOR 1

Instead of what she was. The forth child of a small time king.

EXT LAB

Lisa drives up to a lab "US National Biome Laboratory research"

NARRATOR 1

Princess yes, but not the Princess in a kingdom of them.

INT LAB

Lisa wearing a lab coat looks at a very elaborate terrarium the size of a large table with various apparatus on it. she takes out a rule and is measuring some of the plants on it and then writes that number on a laptop. she repeats

a few other people walk through the lab, but they as may well be extras

NARRATOR 1

It did not help much of the circumstances of her birth. Her eldest brother proceeded her by 13 years her nearest by 8. Randolph had married fairly young still a prince, to princess of his own. He spent several years in preparation spending much time learning something of Law and administration at the hands of his advisers and scholars-and upon there arrival his young family and wife. However roughly 7 years before Sarahs birth, the previous King, her grandfather, died when his horse slipped on a cold winters night. He passed fairly shortly thereafter, tragically. Randolph then hardened in heart took the throne, saddened but re-vowed to his purpose of fairness and goodness. And he did. Somewhat to the ignorance of his family, which stood then for many years with 3 sons. Till as nature sometimes gives his wife became once more with child.

INT LUNCH ROOM

Lisa has a lunch of rice and broccoli

Someone comes up to her. John 30, a coworker, but not her boss

NARRATOR 1

It would be a lie to say that Randolph treated this news with anything less then joy and delight. He was after all a good man, but there was once a time when he would make frequent trips to be at her side and spend time with her as doctors checked. Matters of state kept him

NARRATOR

-as mentioned the new line of forts was well in construction.

JOHN

Hows The Research project coming Dr. Pysalis?

Lisa pauses realizes hes talking to her. she takes off her earphone

NARRATOR 1

He wanted to be at her birth, but a sudden storm prevented it. but a messenger given when he was at a tavern eating dinner prepared in a gale-he was gladden by this,

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

and bought the room a round-but sat to finish his meal.

LISA

Very well. Everything is moving in projected peramaters.

Lisa smiles and puts back on the earphones and goes back to lunch as john goes away.

NARRATOR 1

He wanted to be at her birth, but a sudden storm prevented it. but a messenger given when he was at a tavern eating dinner prepared in a gale-he was gladden by this, and bought the room a round-but sat to finish his meal.

INT LAB

Lisa writes down numbers on her spread sheet.

A line at the bottom has popped up: Daily Overall Growth rate .05 percent.

she smiles at it.

NARRATOR 1

And so her early childhood went. Her older brothers were all at the age to begin some of the lessons of kingship, that their father was well to receive. Some took to it better then others, but all did their part to learn and master their fathers lessons, and his passions. Her eldest brother's disability limited some of the pure physical nature of this, which suited her father fine, he was a man of much mental stamina and quite physical in his youth, but the urge to keep busy limited some of his activity, as did a love of, if not fine food, food. He was not a huge man, but a man of stature.

EXT CAR

Lisa drives home

NARRATOR 1

Sarah, with her brothers all older than her, and due to her gender was left out of this. By the time she was 8 there was no desire in court to much repeat this as lessons had become far more advanced, tutors had been dismissed and her eldest brother stood now a young man of 21.

INT DINING ROOM

Lisa cleans out the cage of the guinea pig. The Guinea pig is running around the house happily. She smiles at it, and puts the tray away.

NARRATOR 1

This is not to say she was ignored, or made to scrub the castle floor (though they had by no means a huge staff of servents, impractical expense wasted, and their castle from an era of an earlier age was rather drafty and needed repair that for the same reason not much given)

INT LIVING ROOM

Lisa stands about 20 feet away. she tosses darts at a board. about 10 of them. there all bullseyes. she smiles.

NARRATOR 1

Her mother was very attentive to her needs, and did her best to care for her-as did a nanny and several members of the court who treated well as a child. But she had a tendency to be somewhat ignored. By the time she could walk by herself around the grounds she did so, exploring it learning it-and since she was by her nature a quiet infant, was able to do so unattended, hiding and sneaking, but when it was discovered she did not engage in much mischief, she was often left to it.

INT LIVING ROOM

Lisa does situps.

NARRATOR 1

She found her way early to the kitchen where a friendly plump cook taught her something of cooking-when her father one day expressed great joy for a bread she helped bake this pride of acceptance filled her briefly with desires-however when the second cake did not produce the same response the love soon fade.

INT BATHROOM

Lisa is taking a bath.

NARRATOR 1

Not so much outside, where she found her way to the stables. The houses Groom Woodrick met her looking at the beast and the animals of the barn-cute chickens, cows and donkies, and she found a love for them.

INT BEDROOM

Lisa takes off her headphones and goes to bed.

NARRATOR 1

Particularly for the horses. She found very little gave her joy other than spending time with them, exploring the outside world around her. She rode ponies by the age of 4, full sized mares by the age of 6.

INT BEDROOM

6:07 she turns off the alarm

She picks up the headphones

NARRATOR 1

While this was dangerous her parents were tolerant of this.

INT KITCHEN

Lisa makes breakfast 2 and a half tommatos and eggs

NARRATOR 1

Her Father because of his work, While her mother had a very heated fight with not directly about that, but about that, and grew cold to him the rest of their days. She spent most of the rest of her days knitting.

EXT DINNING ROOM

she feeds her guinea pig

NARRATOR 1

And so left to her own devices she became something of a horsewoman. The Groom Taught her to Groom, to clean horses and see to there needs.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa today is doing pullups, dozens of them in quick order

NARRATOR 1

She learned a little of blacksmithing of shoeing. She learned of all kinds of riding on all kinds of saddles While the king himself had no real tongue for it there was a practice among the nobles ext backyard.

Lisa does more pull-ups.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

-and some of the common folk for a practice of jousting at fairs, and the grooms when she was little brought her to see this-not to anticipate but to see. And she enjoyed it thoroughly.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa runs around her backyard

NARRATOR 1

The thought of such competitions thrilled her the dangers and practices of it. And not so much in secret, as no one cared much to learn it she practiced some of its methods-of riding aiming a lance. While she learned hitting a target the real lesson that was brought more then once the real skill was staying on horse. The one who stayed on it longest was the one who won

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa jump ropes

NARRATOR 1

When she was around 10, Her middle brother Cedric was kidnapped one night when he was at a tavern. The Details where fixed but murky-even if it was in total classic sense a kidnapping, a dare, or a poor man who thought a lie would enrich him. In any case, it was a scandal of an event-and as they do they had consequences-but consequences are rarely the consequences we intend or imagine.

EXT. BACKYARD

Lisa is practicing her archery-she shoots....and misses the target all together. This causes her to laugh.

NARRATOR 1

Her father thought it wise to increase the royal guard-an organization that had been in some decay to tend to the castle and to his family.

EXT. BACKYARD

Lisa starts taking weird shots at the target- turning around, and aiming, rolling, prone jumping off the deck. They all miss-except the jumping one, which hits the target-not close to the center but it hits

NARRATOR 1

Which meant that several soldiers were brought in for this purpose-including Danary. Danary was a woman she was much younger had been brought into the army to join some love on the front-which ended in quarrel and heartbreak, and when it was discovered her sex, everyone decided it best to shrug, in a peaceful realm

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa jumps off the deck over and over again shooting-about half miss the target all together, but half hit. the last one hits kind of close to a bullyse.

NARRATOR 1

She had become something of an expert scout-and what where they going to do burn her at the stake or something? She was brought to the palace to guard, and she became assigned to the queen and Sarahs detail...becuse it made sense of a kind.

Lisa smiles.

INT CAR

Lisa drives into work at the lab

NARRATOR 1

Danary who for a person who had spent a good portion of her life (for she was, in fact, older than the king) standing on walls and looking out mountains that did not change-found it boring. When she discovered Sarah's hobbies, love of riding and a desire for excitement in adventure, thought it was a quality well worth encouraging as it was something.

INT LAB

Lisa works on her spreadsheet.

NARRATOR 1

By the time she was roughly 13- Sarah could be said to be quite good at these things. Fighting, and fencing, riding, and horsemanship, the ways of battle and the lance, of arrows and warfare.

She gets an email. She opens it. It's labeled "suspicious"

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

This was considered rather odd.

Suspicious

From Dr. William Benent <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.; to Dr. Lisa Physler <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.;

Looking at your prelimary research, and noticed something suspicious. Not questioning you, but it does seem weird. Earlier you made a projection of what you anticipated the growth patterns of the plants to be-and there hitting that. Perfectly. Like 100 percent. The Phlodendrns you expected after 6 weeks to be 340 mm and they're exactly 340 mm. Every plant in your study is.

Again I am not questioning you-you sent the photographic evidence-its clear your working, and I don't doubt your measurements-but thought I would bring it to your attention"

she reads it and pauses

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

But she had a little place against it. Her mother on occasion would attempt to show her crochet, and engage her in cold conversation. Her Father gave lectures on morals and virtue that she did listen-but never spoke directly against this.

And that if any helped it. An attempt was made to give her an education in the formal sense-and it was. A tutor who ended up being more a priest Mon surer Darken with some education came in several days a week to teach her to read, of God and of the mathematical arts, not in that order. However, he was also a man who was prone to flights of fancy-he was by no means a strict disciplinarian but someone inclined to emphasise the joys of these things. He posed numerous folios-tales of history, and adventure, to bring us back to the heroes of antiquity and the knights of old-and what books he did not have he filled in with tales from hazy memory that perhaps lacked in hazy truth made up for in wonder.

INT LAB

Lisa measures the plants again.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah it could be said was a woman of wonder.

INT SPREADSHEET-

she has a sheet up and writes down for it 340-next to 340.

NARRATOR 1

And she wanted more of it in her life

INT LAB

Lisa taps Daryl. Hes a blur.

NARRATOR 1

So We find her at the age of 14 years. Somewhat unsteady, somewhat gangly, skinned burned perhaps with two much sun.

INT LAB

he measures the plant -340.

NARRATOR 1

She was starting to hear-not so much voices but whispers regarding her future-not from her father not from his closet men or from her mother-but voices. The consensus seemed she would be married off to some prince of some other kingdom.

INT LAB

Lisa measure another plant. Daryl measures another

NARRATOR 1

Which kingdom, and which prince or even sometimes a nobles son-was where this conversation lay. For there were rumors. Idle gossip of people who thought they knew intrigue and politics.

int lab Lisa writes down all the numbers we see a spreadsheet with three rows "first measurement" "new results" "projected numbers". They're all identical.

NARRATOR 1

Nothing was brought up with her of course, only rarely was she present-her choice was never considered. Such decisions would likely happen several years in the future. But to what extent her choice then would be considered, that was another question. That the unreality of the circumstance was hard to bring up.

INT LAB

Lisa looks at the diorama

NARRATOR 1

What she thought of this was somewhat complex.

INT LAB

Lisa types up an email at the computer

Re: Suspicious From Dr. Lisa Physler <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.; To: Dr. William Benent <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.;

Regarding your email-I spent the morning double checking my results and having another researcher remeasure it. Its deferentially strange. Every plant, is hitting predicted measurements. Every plant. Statistics suggest its possible that some of them would, or the basic result-but all of them. I am confused. We obviously can't measure the previous week's work, but I doubt there were any measurement errors. This is weird. Do thank you for bringing it my attention Will try to work on figuring this out.

Dr. Physler

NARRATOR 1

As has been mentioned her father and her family had drilled her in the virtue of responsibility, of doing what King and country, and in her case her father, asked. The thought of rebellion agianst it was fairly anathema-as her tutor Darken brought up, a knight after all is very little without her kingdom-and if that quest was to leave and become a small piece on the stage of kings, so be it.

Lisa sighs and looks at the terrarium

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

But it was not a fate that she had much joy to think about.

she gets another email.

Re: Susicious From : Dr. William Benent <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.; To: Dr. Lisa Physler <This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.;

Did you do all the measurements yourself? That is werid. Could be an anomoly.

In any case good luck this weekend.

Lisa shrugs

EXT LAB

Lisa gets in her car

NARRATOR 1

This maybe is why one night at the very start of spring, she woke up around midnight. There was no fire, nor candles lit .

PASSERBY

good luck!

INT HOUSE

Lisa cleans up her gueina pig cage looking troubled. the piggy nuzzles her and she smiles

NARRATOR 1

She sat for a long while in her bed clothes before going up to a window-and looked out at the country by the light of full moon. The land looked distant and unsure, not quite made.

INT HOUSE LATER

Lisa does standing push up

NARRATOR 1

She looked and listened to crickets and owls for a very long time.

INT BEDROOM

Lisa goes to sleep

NARRATOR 1

A very long time,

INT BEDROOM

Lisa wakes up at 6:07

NARRATOR 1

Until they where replaced by the grunts and groans of servants preparing for the day

INT KITCHEN.

Lisa is dressed more formally and makes her breakfast. she eats it and goes and pets her pig which makes her smile.

NARRATOR 1

Their cries brought her from a stupor of reflection to reality. So that morning, desiring to be away from this, she very early in the day went to the stables and prepared for a long ride, before dawn had even fully blossomed.

EXT BACKYARD.

Lisa holding a bunch of archery related gear leaves her house locking the door

NARRATOR 1

Dannary came by and by and she cursed quietly. Sarah did not wish for the company, and Dannary did not wish to provide it, but circumstance dictated. She thought of her father, and she wondered if his quest for good service may in part be part of similar akwardness.

EXT COLLEGE

Lisa drives up to a college

NARRATOR 1

Her steed was McRoy an old Frisian mount, that while of years older then still had a fair amount of strength and speed in him. He at least did not mind the early morning.

EXT. COLLEGE FIELD

We see what looks to be a college track stadium "National Archery Association: Southern Regional Championship 2019"

INT ROOM

There's a line at a table. Lisa stands in it

NARRATOR 1

(over rest of scene)

The old castle was at the edge of the Smallish City of Wendemore, which had been built on a bargable river with the castle on the other side. Centuries however had seen the city grow to both sides of the river, which was somewhat awkward with suburbs. However, still beyond the castle in walls that didn't quite meet the end was a large farm that that in previous generations had some aspect of being converted to a pleasure garden, with small ponds, hedgerows, and a house for exotic plants-however this was somewhat in disarray. The gardener was tasked with its care, but their focus was mainly on the vegetables and herbs that made the King's table.

Lisa comes to the front to a Female checker

LISA

Lisa Pylser

CHECKER

okay, can i see your ID

Lisa hands it to her. the women looks at it, and hands her an event.

CHECKER

Womens all around, Here is a pass. Do you have a coach?

NARRATOR 1

Several years prior a proposal was made to turn it into a public park, something the king had strongly considered-but then he realized that he would have to probabbly pay more money to put it in better shape.

LISA

no

CHECKER

You get two backstage passes

LISA

don't need them.

NARRATOR 1

And into this realm about 40 acres rode Sarah just as the dawn rose

CHECKER

okay-shirts in the bag Locker room is to the left.

Lisa nods

INT LOCKER ROOM

there a bunch of female archers Lisa puts on an archy uniform of Pants and a Polo style shirt.

NARRATOR 1

The garden was rather cold. Sarah had a light ride cope on, and wished she had something thicker. Dannary had one such a garment of heavy brown linen-and for a momment she thought to ask to borrow it-but no.

LISA

takes off her head phone.

EXT FIELD

a group of about 15 archers stand in a line. we see the stadium-its not a big stadium, and is about maybe a quarter full. it looks to be filled with a lot of familes and friends.

a new NARRATOR 2 starts, its clearly Lisa but done with a diffrent voice.

NARRATOR 2

A heavy mist of dew had covered the garden from the river banks and as they rode in it started its long process of dissipating. The Dew was cold- a few days prior it had come as a frost, hopefully the last bit of it for the year. As they road in they saw no signs of gardeners other staff, or well anyone.

a public adress system goes off

ADRESS

Rounds 3 group, first flight. Shoot

Lisa shoots as do other people

It flies up- hits the target-

we see everyone else, they mostly do too.

NARRATOR 2

This was evident in the first major feature of the garden a series of grape arbors. The climate of Terris was one that not right for Wine but all for the most determined-but her grandfather still loved he put it the look of grapes, and there taste raw. As such he planted a fairly large portion of vines just outside his window closet to the house cutting out most of the previous fixtures present. This early in the year they where baren. except for spiky vines that blocked most of the way into the deeper garden save a single fairly small path cut into the rows. It felt rather ominious

Lisa gets an arrow agian. 9 she shoots agian.

Another arrow-a 10.

theres a scoreboard we see 15 other names

Physler 29

FADE

EXT FIELD

The Scoreboard reads

Physler 671

Lisa stands on the target. She aims the arrow.

NARRATOR 2

Though as they continued things improved not much more. Several short walls of brick had been constructed to shade a vegetable garden from frost-and these days it did not do well. The gardens had many rows of winter crop finishing there patterns, but as they where they looked green and brown, simultaneously dry and rotted, perched into brown soil. Sarah paused to look at it, and only joy was for a minute seeing a squirrel at top the wall eating some kind of berry who turned his head to look her straight in the eye in a questioning gaze.

She hits the target

The scoreboard reads

Physler 681 points.

NARRATOR 2 (cont'd)

They then moved into what had been at times the purely landscaping part and a small creek through a small tress of willows. However the creek was designed to be a rushing running number in a small pond at the base.

PA

announcer After 7 rounds Lisa Physler is the overall winner with 681 points. She advances to the semi final round with Danvers, Ivey, Landross, Marcus....

Lisa walks up and gets her arrows. Therese a cheer which she ignores completely

NARRATOR 2

However this was powered by a complicated pumping system, which had long become disused and broken with no hope of repair.

INT HOTEL

Lisa sits in a crappy hotel room, eating rice and onions. She has an iPad and is watching a video of her Guinea pig. She's wearing headphones again

NARRATOR 1

As they crossed through the willows(which where at least well grown and stately) they found the creek a small muddy streamlet of dark fetid water that smelled. This momentarily blocked there way. Sarah wanted to jump over the creek, but felt slightly unsure of the ground and her horse, so she turned and found a small footbridge to cross. Danary was just as glad-for despite her skill in warfare, was not that great a horsewoman.

EXT FIELD

The stadium fills up.

Lisa stands adjusting her arrows, headphones off . A woman walks past her looking at her and smiles at her. Lisa smiles back awkwardly.

NARRATOR 2

so they crossed the river and the willows to come to what was in fact a fairly large lawn, that was well maintained, by the standards of the garden having a its lawn chopped every week by a a satisfy gardener. He did this despite the fact that few people went there. At the edge of this lawn was a bench for sitting an as they got there Sarah still in a somewhat melancholic mind got of her horse.

EXT FIELD.

Lisa gets ready to shoot again. The woman is next to her

NARRATOR 2

Darby who was expecting a rather longer ride shrugged. She took the horses and went to found a tree tie them.

The Scoreboard says finals but there is no score yet.

Lisa shoots and hits the target.

NARRATOR 2

Sarah for her part sat, for a bit letting light fully enter the garden. she realized that near her someone had at the edge of great expanse planted several rose bushes-almost all of which were bare of leaves. however one of the bushes had on it by some miracle a single rose-old and withered a touch but somewhat perfect still, covered in dew, and Sarah realized all of it was perfect.

Lisa takes a moment to smile at the shot.

INT DRESSING ROOM

Lisa is dressing in her normal clothes. she has a gym bag and is putting stuff away including a plaque that says " First place Champion Southern Regional championship 2019" she ignores it.

NARRATOR 1

and the light grew it became green. Green and beautiful, green and gorgeous. Green and alive. Sarah for the first time in the morning felt happy, to be close to it.

There's a noise from an ipad in there and she picks it up narrator 1 There was power in this, power in just this moment.

Another email its

Results From : Ana Beletiz to Lisa I know your busy this weekend and i hope this doesn't distract you but we had an interesting event at the lab this morning...

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

When she saw it

INT. LAB

Lisa stands wearing the same and looks at the table-all the plants are dead-not particularly withered but dead.

ANA 22 a grad student who we don't really see stands behind her.

NARRATOR 1

for across the great lawn was a little man standing by the hedgerow.

ANA

i came in this morning to perform the morning measurements-and they had died overnight-it looks like everything.

Lisa pauses.

NARRATOR 1

Now of course perspective-even the biggest man would appear small 500 feet away.

LISA

Saturday?

ANA

yes i did those like i was asked.

Lisa pauses and sits down at a chair.

NARRATOR 1

But this man was definitely smaller still-he seemed almost the size of the rabbit, but that was wonky to determine. He was definitely small, definitely wearing a very blue jacket, and had what appeared a red hat.

INT LAB

Ana and Lisa are dissecting the plants and putting them in specimen jars and samples-samples of the soil as well, and water putting them in individual petri dishes before putting them in a fridge

NARRATOR 1

She got up and looked at him, and started walking to determine. Dannary was present and saw the motion of standing. She called her over. Sarah told her that she wanted to see the figure across the garden-but when she turned her head to talk to her and then turn it back he was gone.

INT LAB

We see its night.

LISA

I am sorry i didn't get your email earlier. We should have done this already

NARRATOR 1

This was curiouser and curiouser

ANA

It's okay. Did you win that archery thing?

INT LAB ROOM LATER

Lisa is looking at the saturday results-she notices-they are exactly the same as friday. they didn't grow at al

NARRATOR 1

Sarah decided she wished to investigate-which maybe a figment, maybe a person. Interlopers in the garden for various reason-including children were common enough and did not necessairly represent invasion. But she wanted to see-so she and Dannary (who was under arm) went to investigate

INT LAB ROOM LATTER

NARRATOR 1

They crossed the great lawn, passing mists and hillock to the hedge The Hedge was a great monster of a thing. Old Very old, centuries of growth having expanded it. Mullbery, Morning, Glory, Ivy, Roses growing of a dozen bushes of various things. it grew 8 feet tall, 10 in some places, a tangled mass of plant life. It seperted the garden from a forest, having been planted-if such things made by human hands, around the time the castle and the citys foundations where laid. Maybe it was even older, no human mind could remember. What was obvious was it the edge, a mass reminder of something else beyond. Or maybe various plans to replace it with a brick stones had fallen at various times.

Lisa is typing an email.

...Total colony collapse is not unknown, of course, but the cause of this is perplexing. The issue you pointed out on Friday is obvious, as is the fact that yesterday none of the specimens appeared to grow at all. The latter can be possibly be explained by some kind of illness to be determined, but the former is still a mystery-as is the fact that all of this happened immediately upon discovery of it. I realize all of this could look suspicious-but well i know i didn't do anything wrong, i doubt anyone else Here did either. Care and protocol standards were observed. I just don't know.

Tomorrow will begin doing lab tests of all specialisms to root out cause. Will figure it out. In any case what started out as a routine experiment is proving rather intriguing

INT. LIVING ROOM

Lisa walks into her house.

NARRATOR 1

As they approached Sarah became aware of its scope-and while she knew she had been up to it, she couldn't remember when.

She goes up to her guinea pig who seems gruntingly not pleased

INT KITCHEN

Lisa makes a plate of food for her piggy she puts it down on the floor and have the pig come to it.

NARRATOR 1

All of her life it felt a half formed dream, something that always went unquestioned, but that forgave it subtle strangeness. For the leaves of the hedge felt as if they were too green too big, too much of something for a misty day of not much light, it all seemed slightly too present, the scale of the mass-which extended several thousand feet without break to much.

she sits on the floor and watches it eat happily.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

She paused and remembered and if the little man-if he was present had found someway to hide here-she had no method of finding him.He could be hiding in a dozen or a hundred diffrent spots, secret little caves, holes in the plants-he could have found a way through beyond while not easily possibly

INT BEDROOM

At 6:07 Lisa Wakes up. Its clear that shes already awake but doesn't leave the room until 6:07

NARRATOR 1

So she paused and shrugged.

INT ROOM

Lisa makes her breakfast of egg and tomato as the guinea pig chirps.

NARRATOR 1

They called out several times, but received no response.

EXT BACKYARD

She walks through her backyard towards the garage. Noticeable though not super present are two rose bushes next to her back door.

NARRATOR 1

Dannery who had not seen the figure had little idea of what was going on and expressed this belief. Sarah for her part had little explanation-but as she walked back and forth down the row a bit-she had little idea of what was going on only that she wanted to spend a moment more on it. Dannary shrugged, and walked back towards their horses, upon Sarah's approval.

INT/EXT. GARAGE

Lisa sets up a weight bar

Lisa has a fairly serious press setup and is doing back curls up and down in serious order. The garage door is open.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah for her part stood for a moment considering if what she had saw was true

She notices something. She walks with the weight on her shoulder out of her garage

NARRATOR 1

when she heard a giggle.

EXT BACKYARD

NARRATOR 1

And she turned to see-at the corner of the bush, not quite at the corner of her her eye-a man. He was wearing a blue clothing of blue pants and blue trousers the kind of color bleached indigo, with blue boots the color of the sea. He had a red cap the color of crimson which came to a distinct point, and a beard of salt and peeper grey.

On the side of her house are two rose plants-that where until the last scene where normal size. Now one is now dead-the other has turned into a huge travelling rose up the side of the house.

She walks up-and realizes the weight. She takes it and puts it down and examines the live rose-it looks wrong, and then the live one

NARRATOR 1

And he was 3 feet tall. He looked up at her for a moment, smiled.

EXT BACKYARD.

Lisa takes a picture of it with a camera

NARRATOR 1

And Sarah did not quite know what to make of this, pausing for a second.

Lisa pauses shakes her head going back towards the house.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

And this freeze, mattered for the man wandered back into the bush.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa runs in her backyard, wearing a fairly thick top unusual for running.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah turned around to see Dannery walking across the grass-and realized her problem instantly-for dannery obviously didn't see it nor would she believe her. She didn't quite believe herself to be honest

she runs past the bush. it looks different.

EXT BACKYARD

she runs past it again-ever so slightly different

NARRATOR 1

She walked to the spot the figure had disappeared from and found what appeared to be a fairly sizable being of maybe some kind heath vered with foxgrove. No obvious place the person was present, and in fact no sign of movement or passages-the plant looked like an insurmountable obstacle.

EXT BACKYARD

she runs past it again kinda of different

NARRATOR 1

So she paused and looked at it, as it extended considerably above her head. Bewildered. It was in all appearance a wall as formidable as any she encountered

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa practices archery.

NARRATOR 1

Dannery called to her and Sarah knew that she should return-however for a moment she raised her hand. She told Dannery to give her a moment alone. Dannery for her part shrugged and continued across the lawn. Leaving Sarah to ponder

Shes missing actually doing fairly badly.

One arrow just misses. she shakes her head.

NARRATOR 1

She looked down at the hedge and became aware that at the bottom near the ground two bushes where separated into separate plants and over that where moss and vines-however they weren't actually rooted to the ground, but loose tendrils that ever so subtly swayed in the breeze. she moved a hand to move them.

She goes up and takes the arrows from the target. she notices that the graces under it is slightly higher then the grass all around.

NARRATOR 1

And revealed a tunnel into the hedge.

EXT ROAD

Lisa drives through the street.

NARRATOR 1

It was not a tunnel of brick or limestone but it felt as if the mass of plant had simply beeen hollowed out or grown inside was such that a space roughly 3 x 3 did not exist-

INT CAR.

Lisa sees her gas is low

NARRATOR 1

Sarah as a child had of course climbed, and explored in places aplenty. Its what children do.

EXT GAS STATION

Lisa pulls into a gas station. Shes at a pump on the edge next to a tree.

NARRATOR 1

She was perhaps too mature to do so now. However with the strange man the strange goings on-she leaned down and got on her legs, and sensing the scale- pushed her heads in.

EXT GAS STATION

Lisa puts the pump in

NARRATOR 1

Inside was a space that as far as she could see she could crawl through . There was an occasional branch or leaf in its non regular shape-but it was passable. it was also dark and she could not make out an end. She leaned down and started perhaps against better judgment to crawl in.

EXT GAS STATION

Lisa uses her credit card to pay for the gas

NARRATOR 1

The tunnel was very thorny and she felt it against her skin as she pushed in, crackling against her in sharp pings-but she pushed forward and forward going through brush. Her own body blocked what light there was until rapidly she was in total darkness.

EXT GAS STATION

Lisa pumps her gas-and sees that the tree now seems to have something that looks like a face

NARRATOR 1

She wanted to get out, but the only way to do so she realized was to crawl backwards , blocked by branches-

Lisa shakes her head and gets in her car.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

so she went forward turning slightly left, slightly right

EXT PARKING LOT

Lisa is in the car in the parking lot. at the lab

NARRATOR 1

Until she saw more vines in front of her and pushing them aside found herself once more outside.

Lisa gets out.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

And in a dark wood.

INT LAB

Lisa walks into the labs front room, a waiting area. Noticable is a decent size philodendren on the edge of the terrarium.

NARRATOR 1

For beyond garden was a series of small hills covered in forest-this was reminiscent of the royal forest where his grandfather had spent much much time hunting deer boar and other vert. The King for his part had never gone in it since he was a child, finding such hunts distasteful. The office of the royal ranger had been quietly disolved when the last one died, about the time of Sarahs Birth, and while laws and practices prevented all but the royal hand to enter-no one much existed to enforce it.

GUARD

Doctor Physler?

LISA

Yes?

GUARD

Can you come with me

LISA

Sure

she walks with the guard

INT HALLWAY

Lisa walks down a hallway.

NARRATOR 1

She stood up looking at it around to see the other side of the hedge-this one dark and sinster blocked by light. and she looked down to see the tunnel she was just in...was gone.

he takes off her headphones. looking curious

NARRATOR 2

As she taped the tendrils of the leaves she found that they were now firmly rooted to the ground, and beyond them seemed endless brush. grown in a second.

INT BREAKROOM

The Narrator is screaming in this scene

GROUP

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

NARRATOR 2

"SARAH WHAT is going on shouted "Dannary"

A massive group of people-including a bunch of the people we see some we don't are in the breakroom. One who doesn't talk is MADISON,50 who is the kind of guy who looks vaguely unhappy. There's a banner for Lisa Physler -Archery champion, and a cake they have laser printed a picture of Lisa with a bow on.

none of the people really are in focus

NARRATOR 2

"I'm okay" said sarah

PERSON

Well Done

NARRATOR 2

"Sarah is that you" said Dannary

PERSON 2

Good work

NARRATOR 2

"I'm okay"

PERSON 3

We're so proud of you

Lisa seems in a daze of all of this-especially when they start to take cake out of her face she seems honestly distributed.

she finds a spot next to a philodendron plant on a counter next to a window. she stands there as the group kind of migrates past her to the cake etc.

NARRATOR 2

"Were are you?"

PERSON 4

That's a lot of dedication, i know you work hard

NARRATOR 2

"I'm Fine" said sarah "just on the

PERSON 5

Really

NARRATOR 2

"WHERE ARE YOU"

PERSON 6

So does this mean you go to the olympics now.

NARRATOR 2

"I've gotten on the otherside of the hedge" said sarah "I'm fine"

PERSON 7

That's amazing. wow. I would have loved to see it

Narrator 2 There was a long pause and quiet "How did you get there"

Lisa tries to fake smile watching it- all someon hands her a peice of cake thats just her breasts. she brushes it away

NARRATOR 2

"I am not sure" said Sarah looking around "There was a tunnel in the bushes but i can't find it"

PERSON 8

All that training you do. come on

NARRATOR 2 S

Sarah looks confused

Lisa moves to take the cake to be polite -to realize that her left arm the philodendren has completly grown around in the course of a minute

Lisa breaks it. uprooting it and runs out.

NARRATOR 2

She yelped in terror but noticed also that something was at her feet. Half covered in brush right next to the "hole" looked to be a sword but a very strange one.

The group looks on.

NARRATOR 2

A strange one indeed

EXT. FRONT

Lisa sits on the front of the building hyperventilating. She puts in the her headphones

Lisa looks up. She sees the grass of the yard in front-it seems to be half growing half moving, in werid paterns. She watches it freaked out beyond belief.

NARRATOR 1

Most swords are straight-some are thing some are thick, long or short-but straight. This one was curved not in arch like a schimitar but in a wavy line back and forth three times in about as many feet, curves left and right. While it was flat, and bladed sharply-it was odd dimensions to and flow. It was an odd color. Steel is described as blue, but this was twice blue agian, a kind of dull reflection in what light there was, a dark shift in sparkles. She looked at it.

Then she pauses watching it for a momment longer-and extends a hand

The plants move in a giant wave of motion.

She does it extend, extending her fingers it happens agian following finger moves

She extends it agian curling her finger and extending it out a wave goes out to a small swampy forest beond and the trees seem to respond

She sits in awe, as she moves both hands out in a wave and..

She hears a door open and she stops.

A Doctor Bennet, 45 walks outside. Hes her boss and he looks at Lisa.

NARRATOR 1

Dannary breathed in "well this is mischief."

WALIS

Sorry about that Dr. Physler. i know... i know you don't well in situations like that, i know-but it was my idea and i apologize..i really do. i know you had some problems with your experiment but thats fine-its what they told me in college-failure often teaches us more then success-but you succeeded . We are proud of you though i wanted to say that.

She nods. she looks at the grass-its grown quite a bit but its not moving.

NARRATOR 1

"Yes" replied Sarah shaking her head.

LISA

Alright

NARRATOR

1 "No one is with you is there?" said Dannery

BENNET

You're going to figure it all out-will save you the cake we don't eat.

NARRATOR 1

"No" said Sarah "No one i can see."

He gets up and walks back in.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"We could spend all day chopping through the vines" said Dannery" or be sensible and walk round"

BENNET

I am proud of you.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused. She knew she probabbly at some point had been in this area but did not remember. "How do we do that".

Lisa sits on the ground and sighs watching the grass.

NARRATOR 1

"Follow my voice child" said Dannary" i believe if we go through to the fields eventually there is an opening"

Sarah stands up and walks into the grounds

GROUNDS MONTAUGE

Lisa walks through a light kind of forest

NARRATOR 1

There was something extraordinary to this as Sarah watched the forest as she walked-there were the birds, birds she was familiar with, Jays, Cardinals, Jojoes as well as ones she wasn't. She saw squirrels and weasels and other animals hiding in the bush some looking at her rather curiously shaded in the dark.

*she looks up at bushes, and has them kind of part for her.

*She walks past a magnolia tree, and has a branch go down to her and blossom in her hand. She smells it

* She walks past a field and see dozens of flowers bloom instantly

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

She continued to go forward, finding that the mysterious fellow may have vanished or may never existed this was still a good walk, and her mood that had been previously so dark had been lightened. She looked at the sword. the handle was made of leather obviously, but felt diffrent then leather usually felt- a clamy pocket method that was not uncomfortable but different. She noted the hilt had strange markers, runes she could not read. This was rather curious.

* she walks up to a willow tree and watches it sway- she moves a hand over a tree trunk and starts to draw in it, creating the patterns in her finger then drawing a dragon.

She pauses-and half closes her eyes...and watches it breath fire.

She giggles at it, and puts her hand against the tree.

NARRATOR 1

and distracted her extensivly as she was going forward till she heard a growl

the entire tree falls down.

she moves back startled, as she does she turns around she sees the flowers instantly die.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

For as she turned to the side she saw a large Bear next

to her.

she looks up to see a tree wither.

NARRATOR 1

She screamed, as the bear stood up.

she kneels down into a crotch and tries to calm down

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Whats going on" screamed dannery.

she see the trees leaves withering-she extends a hand.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

She realized in a moment, she had a sword in her hand and with quick instinct she did not know entirely she possed she moved forward and slashed the bear across the chest.

the bear reared back growling.

And in an instant a new season of growth comes on it.

She spots a squirrel who looks at her. Kind of taken aback by all this

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

Then put its legs back down "Why did you do that"

Lisa smiles.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"What?" said Sarah to words she didn't know. "I was minding my own business" said what she realized was the bear. "You gave me a startle? Then why poke me?" And sarah fainted dead away.

She looks around and shakes her head this enough and walks back to the lab.

INT LAB

Lisa walks in and sees Ana working on equipment analyzing the samples from the now destroyed research project.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah felt water on her forhead as she saw Dannery above her holding a wet towel

She calms down looking at it, and wipes her face.

ANA

Done one sample...it seems to be rapid cell deterioation, but not i am not finding any source.

NARRATOR 1

"Dannery," said Sarah smiling

LISA

well...would you like some coffee

NARRATOR 1

"You frightened me, good child" said Dannery. "What have you been thinking?"

ANA

I thought you didn't drink cofee

NARRATOR 1

"There was a bear."

LISA

I'll get you something. Anything from the soil in the lab?

NARRATOR 1

"I hear," said Dannary "I heard. There louder then you think. I had to climb the damm bush-which was not pleasant let me tell you. I am going to need a bath and a tailor. Thankfully it decided to leave"

ANA

That's going to take like a week.

LISA

Right

ANA

At least it's interesting

NARRATOR 1

"I slashed it" Sarah replied.

LISA

Right.

She walks off.

NARRATOR 1

"You made it angry" said Dannary. "You're lucky it ran..."

INT BREAK ROOM

Lisa walks up to see the empty break room with the half eaten cake and sign. she touches it for a second and gets a cup of cofee.

NARRATOR 1

The bears I have encountered wouldn't normally do that when they see someone fainted. How do you feel?"

Sandra, 50 soft spoken and little, walks up

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"A little light headed." "Any wounds brusies?" "No"

Sandra, sorry about earlier-I know it can be tough but I really am impressed. what you do is something I could never do-never have the nerve. You're really an inspiration to do all of this, and be an Olympic level athlete.

NARATOR 1

"Well thank god. What did you poke it with?"

LISA

I have never done the Olympics.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused and looked down to see the sword was gone.

SANDRA

Can you?

LISA

I think I can actually

NARRATOR 1

They took Dannery's idea and walked without incident around the hedge agian, Dannery subtly berating her ocasionally

SANDRA

I mean look at you. You're my hero. you deserve the cheer.

LISA

I don't really want them. They just distract me.

NARRATOR 1

"And you want to be a knight," said Dannery "I hope the evil bears don't mind the fainting. "

SANDRA

Then why?

Lisa pauses, and drinks the coffee-she doesn't like it, but its a nervous tick

NARRATOR 1

This took quite a while by foot-it was honestly several miles before they found a pathway, which lead them in fact to a neigborhood of the city where larger wealthier homes were located. They walked through this area that Sarah rarely went to, seeing odd eyes on her from windows of the wealthy merchants of town. What did they think?

NARRATOR 1

She knew her father and family wouldn't make that a major issue-but the rest of it.

LISA

Because I enjoy the challenge.

She keeps drinking for a momment, then puts the cofee down the sink, and gets a new cup, and walks out.

NARRATOR 1

And she thought of what happened-little men in blue sits, tunnels where there were no tunnels, strange swords and talking bears. All of this was rather unbelievable- and while it was true-at least as she perceived it(she half remembered lectures about dreams, phantasms, and perceptual awarness being different)-to convey may not be a wise idea if she wanted to seem sane and reasonable and not as much trouble as she was.

INT LAB

she puts the coffee down on Ana"s area, and tries to calm herself down.

NARRATOR 1

But to lie would be a sin. Her father had harped upon this. And besides Dannery knew what she had said and would not votch for what happened but for what she said.

She takes another sample and goes to a microscope.

INT LAB LATER

Lisa sits at a computer typing an email to Bennett

"No obvious cause of death. Mycondrius and Delapium samples suggest symptons similar to plants reaching the end of there natural life Break down of cellwalls, MNA decreasing-but no obvious causes of it, and plenty of chemicals such as &&&&&, &&&&& that plants well in life possess. There is no disease or toxin off the top of my head that can produce all of these results , but want to continue research obviously. If something comes to mind don't hesitate"

NARRATOR 1

The thought she had instead was to focus the story in a way that made sense- this wasn't a lie, but a technique. She had seen a weird blue object she thought was a man, went to a wall found an entrance, but couldn't find her way back, and along the way picked up a dagger that had been dropped, where she fought a bear. This was a story that made her seem somewhat immature and thoughless-but not crazy. It was also the opposite of thoughtless as it involved a fair amount of thought.

She sighs and shakes her head, and drinks some water

to write in. Going to schedule DNA and soil samples already proceeding. Something odd is going on here-and will get to the bottom of it."

INT HOME

Lisa is sitting in her living room petting her Guinea pig.

NARRATOR 1

By the time they got back to their horses-they had walked nearly 10 miles and it was afternoon. She knew that people would worry.

She strokes her face.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

Or at least she thought they would. For when she got back her father had gone to talk with people at the grannary about a problem they were having with mice. Her mother had gone to a luncheon with a counts wife. Her eldest brother was training with the royal guard-somewhat well. Her two others where in study.

She puts the piggy down on the ground and walks to her bedroom

int bedroom

She takes off her work shirt-reveling her body. she lookd sy her self in the mirror.

NARRATOR 1

Some of the advisors and people about court had noticed-but it was more curiostiy than fear.

EXT. BACKYARD

Lisa has a light on and has out her bow and arrow. She shoots it at the targe-bullseye-not a straight in one but a bullseye

NARRATOR 1

When they got back she told the story, and Dannery chipped into them-then as Dannery requested bathed and dressed cuts and tears-and wounds being healed, Sarah had a light supper picked up a book on treaties on the bible. she pauses.

She looks at a plant on the ground. she makes it grow. upwards with her fingers...and look at it.

NARRATOR 1

But she had fought a bear.

she pauses.

LISA

There isn't a theme here!

INT HOUSE

she walks into the house. she realizes she still has the bow and arrow, she turns to leave

NARRATOR 1

As she went to bed this troubled her but she sighed shaking, and after a very long day int house

she walks into the house agian. she sees the Guinea pig picks him up and puts him back into his enclosure.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

that she realized had started at midnight she went to sleep.

she looks at the clock.

INT BEDROOM

she wakes up at 6:07.

NARRATOR 2

She was awoken-not at day but in the middle of the night by the sound of small voices

INT BEDROOM

She gets dressed in an athletic top

NARRATOR 1

"is she sleep"

INT KITCHEN

she makes breakfast of eggs and 2 and a half tommatos

NARRATOR 1

"Yes" said anouther voice "She sleep. Deep slumber nap time"

INT GARAGE

She does pushups on a raised surface- clapping as she does. She looks at the garden

NARRATOR 1

"Then we steal," said the first voice. "Commit perfect crime."

INT KITCHEN

She feeds the Guinea pig putting together a plate for him

NARRATOR 1

"Yes perfect crime"

EXT BACKYARD

She runs around the backyard.

NARRATOR 1

She froze in terror under her sheets not moving.

EXT BACKYARD

she runs somemore

NARRATOR 1

"Dart in fast move quick" said the voice "Then it ours. All ours"

EXT BACKYARD

She skip ropes

NARRATOR 1

Sarah shook-not wanting to scream-but she remembered something Dannery had said earlier. What kind of knight would do that? She waited a moment, heard some movement-

EXT BACKARD

She has archery gear, and she practices.

NARRATOR 1

and pushed off the sheets and got to her feet in a flash, ready to confront who was beside her.

She's hitting not particulary well according to the target.

EXT BACKYARD

She pulls all the arrows out of the target

NARRATOR 1

to see the room was empty. No one was in it but her

EXT BACKYARD

she pauses refocuses and shoots agian

NARRATOR 1

till a momment latter she heard one of the voices "AHHHHH she's awake"

EXT BACKYARD

She's back to hitting bullesyes

NARRATOR 1

"Run" "Thats what i am doing!"

INT BEDROOM

She dresses for work.

NARRATOR 1

She looked around the room-seeing nothing. Until her eyes spotted on the ground two mice scurrying across the room.

EXT. CAR

She drives to work

NARRATOR 1

She saw on the floor next to it-a plate she remembered that night before bed she had some bread and cheese, and the remnants looked half chewed.

INT LAB ENTRANCE

Sarah walks in looking at the hallway of her lab.

NARRATOR

She paused..

INT LAB-MONTAUGE

NARRATOR1

And looked down and realized she had the blue sword in her hand. the same feel

-she cleans off the table with Ana and Daryl

NARRATOR 1

This created quite a stir of emotions in her

-she does more tests of the plants

NARRATOR 1

when the door pushed open. She looked to see one of the maids Gladiza come in. "Whats going on? I heard a commotion" -she looks at the plant cells Sarah paused "Um... I thought I heard something and I got up". She looked. "But it was nothing," the maid shook her head. "Well glad to hear it-you seem to have had a fright."

INT LABORATORY

The lab is empty she picks up a phone, watching to make sure the coast is clear looking at a webiste

NARRATOR 1

The maid shook her head "Well glad to hear it-you seem to have had a fright." "I'm okay," said Sarah.

LISA

Yes, I am Doctor Phylis, I am Biologist with the Us National Biome Research Lab-I have never done this before, but I would like to send in a sample of blood, and tissue to have in analysed and DNA scan. Its for a...private project though. Yes human. How much will that cost? Okay

Lisa shakes her head putting the phone down.

NARRATOR

1 But then she realized looking down. the sword was gone. and nothing was present. She climbed back into bed and settled in but did not sleep.

INT LAB

She writes another email to Paul

"Have considered doing a new version of the experiment but want to continue to examine the results of the previous experiment until more information can be present of what happened. This maybe conjecture but I do belive something very intresting is transpiring that anylsis could shed light on this...

NARRATOR

1 She climbed back into bed and settled in but did not sleep. Instead she stood silent.

She pauses

"Plant devolopment."

NARRATOR 1

"Has she tuckered for a snooze?" said the same small voice

INT GARDEN STORE

Lisa has about 50 tomato seedlings in her cart

NARRATOR 1

"She Sleepz" said its companion. "She no suspect nothing"

INT LIVINGROOM

Lisa has the guinea pig around the ground and on the floor has a tommato seedling, a camera and a ruler

NARRATOR 1

"Soon the cheese shall be our"

She concentrates on a tommato

NARRATOR 1

and she waited as she did she heard the pitter patter of mice.

It starts to grow as a long tendral as tommatos do ...it gets about 4 feet tall and falls over.

NARRATOR 1

Now sarah being very careful scouted her eyes. and head to the edge of the bed and peaked over

She measures it with a ruler, and writes it down on a laptop

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"This good cheezze" said what she realized was the first mouse

INT LIVING ROOM

she repeats the process the plant also grows about 4 feet tall

NARRATOR 1

"Excelent" said its companion "A+ class 1 effort cheese"

she taps the carton

EXT BACKYARD

with the porch light on she has planted one in the ground-and repeats the experiment-it also grows about 4 feet tall, and falls over

NARRATOR 1

"I would feel comfortable giving this cheese to the King of the mice," said the first. "If he was dining at my table. If not I eat all myself"

She nods and make a note. It doesn't seem to be the limiting factor

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused looking down at them and realized that once agian in her hand was the sword.

EXT BACKYARD

She plants another one in the ground.

INT HOUSE

She puts two tommatoo plants into tubs. next to each other-she concentrates one getting it to be about 3 1/2 feet tall she moves her fingers around in the air and watches it dance a little-the other one she pays attention to-and it looks normal.

NARRATOR 1

"Mice" she said quietly "What?" said one of the mice.

She smiles

NARRATOR 1

"Mr Mice" Sarah said, "I wish to parlay"

She measures both.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"She can talk" said the mouse agian looking up seemingly confused

INT HOUSE

She gets out 5 more tomato plants and with a quick wave of her hand they all grow to be 3 and a half feet tall.

NARRATOR 1

"No no," said Sarah "I don't care about the cheese-in fact you can all of it and more of it tomorrow if you tell me how you can talk". She makes a note-long term stability

she puts them in the window sill.

NARRATOR 1

The mouse slowly came back. "Dunno. How do you talk?"

INT LIVING ROOM

She takes a single plant and extends it and plays with it. She moves it one 180 degrees-the entire thing falls over

NARRATOR 1

The first mouse paused. "Never much spent much mental energy considering the question of communication. Me much rather eat cheese".

She holds the carton with a hand and tries agian-the plant collapses

NARRATOR 1

"Or bread" said his companion

INT LIVING ROOM

She repeats it with another plant, and turning it to the other side. Same result

NARRATOR 1

"But preferably cheese," said mouse

INT LIVING ROOM

She doesn't grow a plant but tries turning it to the side-it does the same thing, but maybe a little bit father

NARRATOR 1

"Its really the perfect cheese"

She makes notes on this.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

The mouse paused "How do you speak"

She smiles and looks at the clock.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"I supose the same" said Sarah

She looks at a plant

INT LIVING ROOM

She puts her foot down carefully on top-and closes her eyes-the tendril goes around her leg

NARRATOR 1

"I haven't thought much of it either"

She looks at the result and smiles

NARRATOR 1

"Then we agree" said the mouse "And you promised the cheese"

She moves and the seedling colapses getting dirt on the floor.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah nodded.

She laughs at that and marches around the ground with it, till it falls off

NARRATOR 1

"Have it" said Sarah "one more question" The mice nodded "very well".

INT LIVING ROOM

Lisa vaccums up the dirt.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah took out the sword she knew was present "What do you make of this"

Lisa sees the guinea pig running around and eating one of the tomato plants.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Looks like something you people use to cut cheese" said one of the mice. "I no no why you do it when you could eat"

LISA

ohh

NARRATOR 1

"It's a sword" said Sarah "And I suspect that's what letting me talk to you. Say something"

she picks up the guiena pig and puts him in his enclosure

NARRATOR

As she did she put it down -and she heard the mouse squeek, she picked it up

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa puts the tomatoes on the back porch and smiles

NARRATOR 1

"...cutting the cheese unlocks the flavors. lets the subtle oils and protiens in the curd breath."

INT BEDROOM

6:07 she wakes up

She puts on an athletic top and the headphones

NARRATOR 1

Sarah nodded in the way this all made sens. "Thank you-i suspect this is a magic sword"

INT KITCHEN

She walks into the kitchen. and gets an idea

NARRATOR 1

"Thats silly" said the more cheese knoweldgable of the talking mice "Theres no such thing as magic"

EXT. BACKYARD

she walks outside to see the tomatoes-and moves her finger. one of them grows up to full size in moments. She picks off two tomatoes-and presses her fingers at another. It turns into about half size of normal.

NARRATOR 1

"I suppose," said Sarah she shook her head. She then got up. "What are you doing big person?" "Fulfilling a promise" replied Sarah. She put the sword under a blanket first before going up then walked to her door " Gladiza!"

She smiles at it.

LISA

Oh god what have I done

Then instantly becomes revolted at what she's done and vomits.

INT LIVING ROOM

Lisa sits on her couch a moment, kind of shivering. She shakes her head

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa runs around her backyard calming herself.

EXT BACKYARD

She jumps ropes doing a very very elaborate routine.

NARRATOR 1

A minute later the maid varied "yes mistress"

INT KITCHEN

She starts to get out the stuff to make eggs-but instead makes herself oatmeal.

NARRATOR 1

"I apologise for waking you from your bed-but I have late but urgent request"

INT DINING ROOM

She sits by her Guinea pig enclosure and eats.

NARRATOR 1

"Anything mistress" said Gladiza. "I want you to go to the pantry and fetch a half a cheese wheel immediately if you can" "Right now?" said Gladiza

she sees the tommato on a counter, and stands up to eat it....

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Yes," said Sarah. "And then you may go to bed." Sarah heard a squeek

She shivers and puts it down.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Make it a full cheese wheel."

INT LAB

Lisa sits in her lab. Shes packing something up to mail.

NARATOR 1

The next morning she went outside behind the castle to a wood pile. Her new blade quickly appeared whenever no one could see her -but if she put it down it..

Daryl shows up.

NARRATOR 1

Would be there wherever she put it.

DARYL

What's that?

NARRATOR 1

This would perhaps be a sign of madness but a quick sneak to the wood pile revealed that this imaginary blade could chop real wood.

LISA

Um...sending something out to a private lab.

NARRATOR 1

This would perhaps be a sign of madness but a quick sneak to the wood pile reveled that this imaginary blade could chop real wood.

DARYL

what?

LISA

Something I don't want to expense

NARRATOR 1

And if she put it between the blades of her shoulders between two loose shirts and put a cloke over that no one could see it if her back look normal enough

DARYL

Yeah, whatever this is-you know pheromones

LISA

what?

NARRATOR 1

And She discovered that morning in fact quite a bit. As long as she had the blade on her person, she could lift a 500 pound stone chopping block quite easily, without feeling any strain very much at all. The huge stone didn't feel at all heavy, able to place it overhead.

DARYL

That's plant stuff, they talked about it in college

LISA

i know what it is.

NARRATOR 1

Next she tried a diffrent tact with a running leap was able to jump on the roof of the building, and when she somewhat missed her landing she felt no pain as she hit the roof with her knee-and when she jumped off she was able to hit the ground easily.

DARYL

Its like they can send out communications to other plants, tell them to do stuff-where the light is, bees are coming. Maybe like one of the plants accidentally sent the communication to die.

NARRATOR 1

"Whats this?" said the watchmen coming to investigate

LISA

It's easy to overhype

NARRATOR 1

"Nothing sir," replied Sarah.

DARYL

But its really cool and..

NARRATOR 1

And Sarah scuttled off. She never felt more powerful, but never felt more strange either. As she entered the main square of the castle grounds and saw carpenters, guards, butlers, porters and clerks going about their business-what was the limits-could her magic blade give her infinite strength, immunity to all blows, things of that nature? She didn't know.

LISA

Seriously I know what it is. I have a doctorate in Biology from the University of Georgia, and wrote my thesis on the chemical composition of plant tissue and am a botanist for the United States Government! I know what pheromones are.

NARRATOR 1

Could she take everyone in the field-take them all? Slay them?

DARYL

Sorry, just, you know, saying a theory.

NARRATOR 1

This of course would be wrong. Very wrong, as she had no provocation-and in fact no provocation from anyone.

LISA

Do not mansplain stuff to me. Your just a research assitant. Get out.

NARRATOR 1

Right makes might, and no matter what might she theroetically possessed right still lead that. Of course right was to be determined.

DARRYL

Sorry

LISA

Get out!

He leaves

NARRATOR 1

So she went to the barnyard to see what the animals would say which sounded rather insane.

DARYL

I'm sorry

She pauses and paces for a second

INT. HALLWAY

Daryl is outside. Lisa walks up to him with the package

NARRATOR 1

With the fact that she felt pain, but less of it made her wonder more then a moment if this was not some elaborate dream.

LISA

I am sorry. I really am. Can you do me a favor and take this to the mail room?

EXT. TOWN

Lisa is driving home. she sees a martial arts studio

NARRATOR 1

She did feel heat, on a day that devoloped by 10am to be rather hot. As she came over Fredrick, who was her friend the Groom looked over. "Sarah why are you wearing the cape?" "Reasons of state," Sarah replied.

INT STUDIO

Lisa walks into a studio and sees a class working out, lead by a middle age female SENSEI. She sits in a chair

NARRATOR 1

Fredrick laughed a laugh that bellowed his bushy mustache. He was a young handsome man of big smiles that somehow became taunting and friendly. "This is not the place to this morning be in clothes for state. a trough tipped over in the yard and the entire bits ugly hot mudd"

"Well anyway" said Sarah, "I wish some private time with the goats."

She watches for a minute

int studio latter

Lisa talks to the Sensi

And Fredrick laughed harder.

LISA

NARRATOR 1

Then paused to look at her. And then laughed agian

SENSEI

NARRATOR 1

"As you wish"."

LISA

I guess

NARRATOR 1

And Fredrick walked out as Sarah walked in.

SENSI

Have you ever done any kind of Kung Fu?

NARRATOR 1

She saw one chewing

LISA

Any kind?

NARRATOR 1

and shaking her head sighed "Greetings mr Goat" "Human girl?" said the goat

SENSI

We go into this in class-but theres like 40 diffrent kinds dependng on how you count.

NARRATOR 1

"The person who ocasionally pets my soft mane?"

LISA

Oh-no.

NARRATOR 1

"That good question" said the goat "I don't know, but you do seem a pleasent enough."

SENSI

Any experience in any martial arts?

LISA

The Sensei walks up to the counter

NARRATOR 1

"Well, sorry for bothering you." "But ask the good wise cow," said the goat

SENSI

Well class are 20 bucks a session but there's a discount structure if you sign up for multiples-

NARRATOR 1

"What good wise cow?" said Sarah.

LISA

How much does a year cost?

NARATOR 1

"Why the white one with the black mark on it's side-the one over there in the barn," said the goat. "For she is very wise indeed"

SENSEI

600 for 50 weeks.

LISA

Does it take a year?

SENSEI

It takes a lifetime.

LISA

Like a blackbelt?

SENSEI

3 years.

NARRATOR 1

"Thank you," said Sarah petting it's mane.

LISA

Oh I know archery. Does that help?

NARRATOR 1

"Its my pleasure and my only regret is not being able to personally aid you in your quest."

SENSEI

Not really

LISA

I'm ranked like...9th in the American national rankings for women.

SENSEI

Really?

NARRATOR

Sarah nodded and walked over. That had been a very polite goat.

LISA

I'll take a year.

She gets out a checkbook.

NARRATOR 1

"Why are you talking to a goat?" said Fredrick from behind her. "I thought I asked for privacy," said Sarah turning.

SENSEI

I don't recommend people do that many without knowing it-it might not be for you, you may get hurt.

NARRATOR 1

"I'm sorry, I'm Sorry," said Fredrick. "I'll mind my own business."

LISA

Oh. Well, anyway.

She hands over a cheque.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah sighed. "I should apologize to you." "Your acting strangely" said Fredrick. "But that is not my business"."

SENSEI

Look, I don't normally do this-but i am going to hold this cheque two weeks. If you want me to cancel it, I'll do it.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah watched him walk away, shaking his head.

LISA

Okay. I won't. So you get the white suit?

NARRATOR 1

This caused Sarah to shake her own head in return questioning her motives

SENSI

Wait two weeks.

She walks out

LISA

Okay.

INT. BEDROOM

Lisa wakes up at 6:07 AM

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa does upside down pullup toe curls-But revered

NARRATOR 1

EXT BACKYARD

She runs around her backyard, seemingly racing at the end she tries kind of forward flip she lands it.

NARRATOR 1

The cow chewed. "I said good morning cow." The cow turned it's head to see her.

INT GARAGE

She takes her archery targets out.

NARRATOR 1

"Moo," it said.

EXT BACKARD

She practices archery-but from diffrent positions

NARRATOR 1

Sarah din't know whether to be angered or releived at this. She turned to leave when she saw the goat blocking her way

* on her decks railing

* prone

* behind a tree

She sees her garage and gets an idea

INT GARAGE

She pulls out morning glory seeds

NARRATOR 1

"Now Cow," said the goat. "Don't be rude to the young woman"

"Mooo"

EXT BACKYARD

She moves to the side of her garage and drops some in the ground.

NARRATOR 1

The goat sighed "I apologize for my comrade "

She sighs pauses-and nothing happens for a momment-she does it agian-and a burst from the ground of a giant vine grows up the side of her garage

NARRATOR 1

"Its alright" said sarah."I'm probabbly crazy"

She falls backward when she sees it...but recovers

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"No your not," said the goat

she climb up the side of the gararage and stands on it with her bows and arrow.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Thats exactly what a goat would say in this circumstance," said Sarah. "Though i do apologize if it turns out I am not insane"

She shoots at the target.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

And Sarah heard a laugh behind her. a surprisingly deep throaty laugh.

She hits an 8 on it.

She shrugs. First time. She looks at her hands and realizes their bleeding. She shrugs

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

She turned. If one can imagine the voice a cow would have it would not be this.

INT BATHROOM

She bandages up her hand

NARRATOR 1

A deep throaty almost growl of a voice that sounded ancient of time

EXT BEDROOM

She looks at her body for a momment and dresses

NARRATOR 1

"In this age you would question your sanity," said the cow. "That is a proper thing to do. The children of men have gone to far, built to many mazes of stone...

EXT CAR

She pulls into work.

NARRATOR 1

" ...choping down the stumps and rowed the meadows. They do so for words like progress and civilization. But what proffits them, if they can't even hear my voice...that its so mute they pass it by"

INT LAB

She is looking at a sample.

NARRATOR

"I'm sorry" said Sarah.

Ana walks over

NARRATOR

"You should be" said the cow "Your the bloody queen of them"

ANA

What happened to your hand?

LISA

Gardening

Ana laughs Lisa looks

NARRATOR 1

"Princess" said Sarah.

NARRATOR

1 "Titles and properties" said the cow. "Don't get me started or I'll be here all afternoon."

LISA

What's so funny?

ANA

Just your a botanist

LISA

It was at home.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah drew her blade out. "What can you tell me of this?"

ANA

Sorry

Lisa shrugs and goes back to her sample

NARRATOR 1

"Your property?" said the cow looking at it.

INT MARTIAL ARTS STUDIO

Lisa stands with a group of about 15 others beggingers. Lisa and 3 others are wearing civlian clothes-athletic cloths-while the others the gis. the sensi is front

NARRATOR 1

"Tell me please"

GROUP

NARRATOR 1

"Princess of men" the cow turned back in its stall The goat looked "What has this women done to you? She has never been anything but kind to me," the cow sighed and had the look of someone that had much to say but not the energy to say it-instead turned

SENSEI

Excellent. I am SENSEI Williams. I am always to be addressed as sensi-that means master. Am i a master of this-no. No one ever is. But I am your master, your teacher and I hope to impart this to you. Let us assume first position.

NARRATOR 1

"It is a blade of the old ones "

The group in front does the stance

NARRATOR 1

"What does that mean?" said Sarah.

SENSI

Right leg from left leg back dominate arm high second arm low. This is important.

NARRATOR 1 (O.S)

"It means The Old Ones made it" said the cow, "and before you ask- The old ones where the ones who came before your kingdom, before its civilization, before mr prison was built. They made many wonders-not like you by hammer and chisel, but created that blade by methods i no not"

Lisa actually has a pretty good stance.

SENSI

Now right punch

Everyone does-Lisa does.

SENSE1

Agian 2

Lisa punch

Lisa kicks

INT ROOM-LATTER

NARRATOR 1

"Of course its magic. But then agian this wood fence between us is magic. This hay on the ground, these walls are magic and the pail they give rancid water.

SENSEI

Let's do a combination low punch left right and then high kick right

Lisa does this rather well

SENSEI

Again

Lisa does it agian

INT ROOM LATTER

The group breaks, most of them get water. Lisa is doing a 4 hit combo she looks as pleased as

NARRATOR 1

I'm magic, your magic-we are all elmements of the great magic of creation. Or altnernativly nothing is"

SENSI

Let's take a break for a minute get some water, and when we get back sparing

Lisa looks up

INT ROOM

Lisa has been paired with a woman of about her size and scale wearing a Gi

NARRATOR 1

"Your a very bitter cow" said Sarah.

Lisa looks at her nodding

NARRATOR 1

"But my meat will be very tender and sucluent" it replied.

Then the woman screams, like they have been doing-and this startles Lisa badly.

She punches Lisa in the shoulder and Lisa has no idea how to react

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Don't be cross with her" said the goat."

The woman mainly with her screaming starts to really beat up Lisa-its not that she is objectively good-but well

NARRATOR 1

"And don't pretend like you can stop it," said the cow. "I am too big and valuable an animal-and besides my life has been dank and hellish enough as it is."

Lisa doesn't know how to react at all-kinda of trying to dodge but not.

After a minute it's over

NARRATOR 1

Sarah sighed "I'm sorry"

SENSEI

Enough. Good work Sampson.

INT ROOM

Lisa sits on a chair, the group is going away.

NARRATOR 1

"For the world you created" the cow replied "The fetid mess. Hah"

the Sensei goes up to her.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Can you tell me anything more?" said Sarah

SENSEI

So what do you think?

LISA

I have a lot to learn.

SENSEI

Well if I can teach you anything in this class it's that.

She laughs a little bit. Lisa shakes her head. She looks at her hand with bandages.

EXT. BACKYARD

Wearing the same clothes Lisa has her archery gear-but now she is wearing gloves.

NARRATOR

1 the cow shook it's head causing a bell to ring. "Why not? what good is my wisdom if its not shared?"

She aims and shoots. Bullseye.

EXT. BACKYARD

Lisa is wearing a heavy winter jacket and gloves. I don't know where you found it, but I do know your in a world of trouble for it princess.

She aims and shoots. Bullseye

NARRATOR 1

The blade will give you incredible strength-your as strong as 10 men, quick as 15, numb you to pain, and well...let you communicate with me-but it will not be enough. Not nearly.

She has the jacket the gloves-and now a ski mask.

She tries to aim her bow and arrow-and shoots.

This really misses the target

She takes off her mask. This is too much. She shrugs.

INT. LIVING ROOM

NARRATOR 1

For if you found it the ancients wish it. And what the ancients wish was rarely a good thing for those who they wished. Of what they want from you, I do not know-but that I doubt will be enough to deal with it. its half a measure."

The Guinea pig runs around as she takes a peice of paper. She sketches a human body-not quite a stick man but not better. she looks at it for a long minute.

INT LIVING

She has out her laptop-on the screen are premade sketchs of naked people use in fashion industry to draw clothes on.

NARRATOR 1

"What do I need to do?" asked Sarah.

INT HOME OFFICE

She's printing out 20 of them.

NARRATOR 1

"It numbs you to wounds but not stop them-makes your arm strong but not the bone-find there construction...

INT LIVING ROOM

She sits on her coach agian and looks at one of these.

NARRATOR 1

Beyond that and you will find one more peace-and find it soon. I do not know where before you ask, and I don't know when. But you have found the blade of an ancient, something half real-but your life is real enough"

She taps her pencil-and just draws a line on it.

She shrugs and clicks her tongue.

INT BEDROOM

At 6:07 she wakes up

NARRATOR 1

And the cow turned and went back in her stall, bell a ringing.

INT OFFICE

she sits in her office at her computer.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused. She looked at the goat and petted it's head.

Lisa gets an email

"soils report sample"

NARRATOR

"Thank you for your help" she smiled

she looks at it emits a very loud grunt.

"it was no problem" said the goat

This brings Ana over whose in the background.

NARRATOR

And Sarah walked out of the pen to find .. Lisa soils report came back

ANA

What's up?

NARRATOR

Fredrick pushing a wheelbarrel. "I have a request".

ANA

Oh anything intresting-I thought it would be a bunch of nothing.

NARRATOR

"Yes?" "make sure that goat you know the one-he lives to a long age"

LISA

It is mostly normal-except for the fact that there is a lot of ethel in the soil

NARRATOR

"Your too old to make requests like that."

ANA

Like alcohol?

LISA

Yeah.

NARRATOR

"But as I was reminded I am a princess." Fredrick sighed and picked up the cart."

ANA

That's not...too unusual...when plants die. Especially if we don't collect it fast enough.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah went inside and after a small lunch went to find Monseior Darken who was also the Castles Chaplin. She walked quickly-she realized that to her the pace felt natural and normal but seemed faster-maybe the cows words had meaning.

LISA

Yeah-but i wonder. Ever heard of Mastraxian.

ANA

yeah.

LISA

After it breaks down it turns into water-mostly in air-its why people use it. In the soil-it can turn into ethel.

ANA

Are you saying someone could have posioned them?

Lisa pauses and looks her head side to side. She is saying that, but doesn't want to say who she suspects.

NARRATOR 1

She found him shortly in one of the the castles two chapels cleaning it up for dust

EXT. BUILDING

Lisa eating a meal of rice and broccoli sits outside. There's a patio.

NARRATOR 1

She approached him from behind, as he seemed lost in his task as she came up towards him he shook his head before turning."Ooh, you startled me"

As she does Doctor Bennet comes outside next to her

NARRATOR 1

She paused. Somewhere someone had told her that stealth was speed. There was some truth to that.

BENNET

Physler

LISA

Yes

Bennet

I am finding you outside a lot these days.

LISA

Its nice. Quiet.

NARRATOR 1

"I have come to ask you something." Sarah said. "I was talking to a person and he talked about the ancients, and i was wondering what...

BENNET

"Yeah. I kind of want to talk to you about something.

As she talks she looks at a bush behind him it starts to flower. He ignores it, and she kind of ignores him.

NARRATOR 1

"The Ancients?" said Darken chuckling. "Thats a word "have you heard it." "But what can you tell me?"

LISA

The experiment-will figure it out- I hope there isn't a cloud of suspicion that we...

phylsis trails off.

NARRATOR 1

"Of the people who lived before?" Said Darken pausing as a man phrasing his history "The Romans ruled here for a time. I think we have gone over them. They never had strong purchase, but if you look here and there you may find there ruins. Before that Lived the Celts, of them i know little "

BENNET

No. No. You know i have been doing this for 20 years. i have kind of learned-this things works thing goes right-its not my job. Someone told me recently that some research done at my lab-directly lead to a fast food at macdonalds. And i was pleased as punch. Pretty damm good to.

NARRATOR 1

"do you have any books?"

LISA

what was it?

NARRATOR 1

"I am afraid not...maybe a history eludes to them." said Darken "The Celts where not much for the written word-or if they where its been forgotten"

BENNET

It was a new version of the chicken nugget. My point is-my job isn't science. It's to help science. Make it happen, help the scientists-theres a lot of burearcary here, red tape, politics. All that-and to help you.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused. "What came before the celts?"

LISA

Thank you

NARRATOR 1

He chuckled. "Now you are getting into the question of what came before god. History is useful but to a point it can only tell us so much."

BENNET

Are things going well?

LISA

sure.

NARRATOR 1

Probabbly something, some people lived in this land before them-these ancients you so speak, but who they where, and what they did-I know not. Doubtless anyone does"."

BENNET

Yeah. I have worked with you for 2 years now. I think i know you-very predictable. You have your paterns.

LISA

That's kind of changing.

BENNET (cont'd)

And thats good. Your evolving. When I heard about that archery thing, i thought-thats weird-but the more I think about it, the more I think that makes sense. Theres like the national championship in two months right in Vegas.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah sighed.

PHYLSIS

That's correct

NARRATOR 1

"My problems feel so complex " "So do everyones my child" said Darken "this is what age teaches"

BENNET

well if you want to take a couple of days off to go to it-thats great. You should. Streach out more.

NARRATOR 1

"You are a priest"

"of course"

LISA

I'll think about it.

NARRATOR 1

"Then i wish to confess something-i am not sure a sin, but even if it is not i feel on my concious"

BENNET

Grow. Thats not werid. People are talking, but most of them-that's not weird at all. Thats not worth nothing put in some file. Your just growing

NARRATOR

"Of course" said Darken. "In bounds of such confession"

LISA

Yeah, yeah.

Bennet

Great

Lisa gives her best fake smile. Which looks real fake.

NARRATOR 1

(Over Scene)

"its rather strange." said Sarah "I may just say it. But yesterday I found a strange sword-and ever since I feel...as if strange aspects surround me. My strength has increased greatly-I can jump run lift weights.....I can talk to animals and creatures of the barnyard."

LISA

Hey-what do you think of that flower behind you?

He looks, without really looking

BENNET

It's great.

he walks off

Lisa sighs.

LISA

Nothing.

She shrugs

INT STORE

Lisa is in a plant store in front of a seed. A CLERK, whose been here awhile comes over. she has a bunch of seeds in her cart-maybe all of them

NARRATOR 1

Darken paused, and sat down at a pew.

CLERK

Can i help ?

NARRATOR 1

"I am not sure how to process this information"

LISA

I am looking for like oak tree seeds

NARRATOR 1

"Would you wish evidence?" said Sarah. she leaned down to pick up another of the pew.

CLERK

You mean acorns?

LISA

Yes.

CLERK

Generally you plant them from saplings

NARRATOR 1

"No child" said Darken "I don't need this"

LISA

So you don't sell them?

CLERK

No

NARRATOR

1 "Then what do you require" said Sarah as she sat down. "For I am looking for guidance."

LISA

How about pines?

CLERK

Agian saplings-pine cones are really hard to grow. We have them outside

NARRATOR 1

"If what you say is true " Said darken "I woul offer counsel. Its from a book whose name forgets me at this momment-but this. All things in this world can be said to be the work of God or the work of the devil.

LISA

but if i wanted to get them.

CLERK

you maybe can mail order them

(Lisa sighs)

LISA

i'll get the sapplings

EXT STREET

Lisa comes to her car with all the stuff and puts it in her backseat

NARRATOR 1

All things, all actions, all thoughts all of it- and the question becomes which is which. The Fundemental test then is not what you think it is-but what it leads you to. Has the devil come to you and offered temptation"

a Homeless guy-kind of a hobo comes up to her.

NARRATOR 1

"I talked to a cow" said Sarah

HOMLESS MAN

I'll help you miss

NARRATOR 1

"You talked to a cow" said Darken in a man taking this much better then sarah anticipated "Very Well. Did you steel it"

LISA

Thats okay

HOMELESS MAN

LISA

i'm fine

homeless man can you give me some change anyway

Lisa looks at him, looks at him for a long momment, longer then

NARRATOR 1

Darken paused "Well then. Remember-the Oldest amoung us where Angels and Devils. Be careful of who you meet"

HOMELESS MAN

are you okay?

LISA

um

HOMELESS MAN

maam and do you have change?

Lisa reaches into her pocket

LISA

heres sure

she gives him like 30 bucks

HOMLESS

man thanks lady

LISA

yeah yeah sure.

she pauses

NARRATOR 1

And Sarah nodded.

LISA

do you feel helped

The guy is walking away

HOMELESS

Sure.

LISA

I want you to feel helped..

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa finds a corner of her backyard-she moves her hand over it and the grass on the ground dies in a square plot to revel dirt underneath. she puts a tray and her laptop.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah did not want to lie, so she didn't -but on the next day she contrived to be alone by saying she wanted to take a walk in the garden without going into detail why. She was lucky in that no one seemed to want to make a fuss about this. Dannery she avoided by the simple task of not talking to.

she takes a seed and stap watch

and puts it in the ground she times it

up plops a daisy. she plops it up-it grows- then stops ggrowing she makes a note

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

So she made her way past the arbor, gardens-and even the lawn. When she got there she realized she was alone-and did a quick test. The Lawn was in total maybe half a mile long-and she was able run across it there and back in less then a minute, without feeling any level of tiredness. just the soft breeze of air rushing across her face that in a way felt intoxicating.

we see a montauge-about a dozen diffrent plants plop up-quickly as she types it up

a vine grows-she tries to make it grow high-but it fails

LISA

makes sense.

NARRATOR 1

Something was happening to her and she needed to see its through.

she plants a seed.

and a banna plant leeps out if-quite big

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

She walked up to the hedge, and looked at it-she recognized the spot instantly where the hole had been-but similar to the other side she couldn't find-it beyond the tenderals where growth and covered up the mass. No way in through that way.

she is jolted by it. as it grows 20 feet tall and massive in scale. minature bannas spot on the trunk

NARRATOR

But she walked back about 30 feet, leaned in and took a run then a leap, and she jumped over the hedge in a single bound.

she extends a hand out-and watches as a vine like limb grows around her arm. big leaves

she looks at it. and the vine declines

NARRATOR 1

to find herself once more on the otherside, in the realm of the forest.

she sits down- and makes a check mark for "Bannanas" and smiles

EXT. BACKYARD

She takes an arrow and tapes and seed to it. She puts on gloves Narrator 1 There is a way that two spots broken by a wall can feel diffrent. The boundry itself changes all. What had been a slightly cloudy but not unpleasent day on onside felt much darker here and colder. she was glad for her stol as she found herself in an ever so slightly misty wood.

She with her gloves shoots-and in the air it flies off-the arrow itself goes way of course

NARRATOR 1

She walked into the woods and cried "Sir Sir, i have something for you"

EXT BACKYARD

she tries again same result

NARRATOR 1

But she heard no response "Sir sir"

she raises her hand to the seed with the tape over it-but well its taped in and nothing happens.

EXT BACKYARD.

she tries glueing it. but this takes a messy momment of one or two tries.

NARRATOR 1

For 15 minutes she stood by the hedge shouting into the woods, but found no response. She grew discouraged by this-and realized she would need a new tact-but actively exploring the wood without escort would be reckless and without guidance foolish-the man if he was the one responsible could hide a 100 years in there no matter her new powers.

EXT BACKYARD

At last it holds it but as she aims it but the seed flies off off in mid air.

NARRATOR 1

she sighed and shood her head, and leaneda hand agianst a part of the hedge that looked to ben an exposed tree-when she noticed something

EXT BACKYARD

she has a second arrow with a banna seed. it flies and hits with the seed-but hits the ground in front of the target

NARRATOR 1

she sighs and raises her hand. A bannnana plant grows up.

she looks at it- thats respectable

INT LIVING ROOM

she watches on TV a youtube video. while doing it Lisa is doing a tounge of situps. on the screen is a kind of edited youtube video style video of fair ussage footage

and quickie special effects. The guiena pig is around her.

NARRATOR 2

COMENTATOR

if you remember- the Andrew Garfield Amazing Spiderman-and there is no real great reason to do that-he when creating his suit, compared it to those used in Luge-and thats not a terrible place to start. oh by the way, the company that makes luge suits-spyder.

1. it should cover your skin in movement-every inch-we thinks of punches and kicks, Bullets but falls scrapes-they add up, and when your jumping around rooftops you get a lot of it. Movement-easy to move. so yeah skin tight spandex. it helps if your in an olympic athlete shape-but well thats on you

Lisa pauses and looks at her body laughing very vaugely . she taps her stomach-and then continues

COMENTATOR.

Heat is important-it gets cold at night-but at the same time once you start moving you start to heat up sweat, which makes it wet and cold. 3. The big symbol on the stomach-Bullet proof armor for your chest is something that has existed for a long time and gets better all the time - bullet proof armor for your legs and arm-not really a thing 4. Storage-let say you have a lot of werid gadgets-well maybe not that werid, as there is a lot of weard things. But let say-whats important is 5. Capes-they look silly. They probabbly are silly. Christopher Nolan in research for the Dark Night movies tried to justfy it as it makes your profile looks better, similar to ways snipers sometime do. but thats silly

Lisa looks up at the tv at this and pause . she goes to her cofee table and takes one of the empty sketchs of models

she starts to draw-pants and a shirt overself in a black pencil.

she crumples it up and takes a green pencil and does it in green.

COMMENTATOR

6. Gloves-finger prints are a big issue, that are suprsingly-this makes sense-but if your not used to them take some getting used to. 7.Camaflauge-we think of ninjas all dressed in black-swat teams do this-but really most of them wore, dark shades of Green or sometimes red-in pure dark its suprisingly hard to see thanks to optics of human eyes.

she takes a third sketch and does this one in a slightly diffrent shade, darker green

COMMENTATOR

8. Masks -is a trick. you want a mask you can see. you want a mask that you can turn your head-and you want something that preserves your secret identity-great. Problem is all three. Now people joke all the time about Clark kents glasses-and that has a point-Batman, Bruce Wayne-ehhhh. Most people couldn't idenfity-hell people have hard time often with police lineups. the trick is preserveing all three. a good friend here maybe eye black-if you where to take all the batman masks off -you will see big damm racoon eyes-but that would just look silly all over-its finding the balance its good eye, site ability to look left and right thats the key. 9. Idenfitability-this is a superhero. This is a swat team solder. In a lot of ways everything i say kind of applies to them-but-and this is a big but-well is identifable-one wants to a symbol of hope, to those you want to inspire hope, fear to those you don't and you can argue that this guy does not inspire hope. I'm assuming-some of you people may love this guy-do you know like half of us swat team jobs is serving court warants on people-not even necesarily arresting people, just warants. anyway figure that out-oh by the way this is a member of US Deltaforce, just thought i should share this 10. Footwear-and for goodness sakes lady wear someflats

Lisa breaths in shaking her head.

INT. BEDROOM

at 6:07 Lisa wakes up

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa does pullups-she looks at her backyard which now has several banana plants

NARRATOR 1

Sarah shook her head. She understood maybe 1/2 of the words-if she took it all down and went to some translation guy maybe more-but dobut that would actively help.

EXT BACKYARD

she practices archery with the arrow. Still missing. she shoots 10, and hits the target itself once-but not close.

NARRATOR 1

This was rather perplexing

she looks at the arrow

NARRATPR 1

"you" she heard a voice and stood stock still

she turns around and sees the tommato plants

INT BREAKROOM

Sandra is in the room, brewing some cofee.

Lisa walks up to her with aplastic containers of tommatos.

NARRATOR 1

"You cut me" Sarah turned her head to see the Bear from yesterday "You cut me good, why cut you yesterday

LISA

hey....sandra, i was curious about something

SANDRA

oh

NARRATOR 1

Sarah turned and smiled to see the huge bear standing on its legs, she thought to reach for her sword trapped in her tunic-but

LISA

yeah...i was wondering if you could try-some of my tommatoes. i grew them in my backyard. thats what i did.

NARRATOR 1

"I truely and sincerly humbly apologize"

sandra paused

NARRATOR 1

"Did you think i eat you?" said the bear

Lisa takes one and a knife and cuts it in half

sandra watches

NARRATOR 1

"Frankly yes" admited Sarah.

SANDRA

like right now?

NARRATOR 1

"That silly" said the bear "i no eat people. i good bear. i eat honey, and barries and leaves and squirels and sometimes people....forget that last part" "Its already out of my mind"

LISA

yes-like right now. You can try one, and see what your opinion of them is.

sandra picks up a slice. And she eats it, as Lisa watches curiously holding onto the countertop

NARRATOR 1

"It still hurts" said the bear coming down "But i accept your apology"

SANDRA

its....you know you seem the type to want the honest truth

NARATOR 1

Sarah paused "So Mr. bear"

LISA

do you taste anything

NARRATOR 1

"You have a question?"

SANDRA

I don't want to be nasty...

NARRATOR 1

"Yes sir-i was curious do you know anything about a bowl" The bear paused "in what sense of the term" "I presume..like a space in earth but can't be sure"

The bear paused and scratched it shoulder

LISA

no your not.

SANDRA

i don't want to be...but honestly its not good-its kind of bland, but its got a little werid texture, and taste like certain sugars or what ever it is in tommatos aren't working right, like they haven't devoloped. yeah it tastes, ripe and not..i donno, if i am saying that right

Sandra pauses a second.

NARRATOR 1

"would you like me to scratch that for you?"

LISA

no, thats fascinating. that really is that really is.

NARRATOR 1

"No" said the bear "That personal space"

SANDRA

I'm sorry

NARRATOR 1

"Sorry"

LISA

Don't be. thank you a lot and i mean that

NARRATOR 1

"And as for your question...i donno i am a bear-but...it could mean...see those hills "yes"

Lisa has a sign she puts next to them leaving them on the counter

"Dr. Physler homegrown tommatos-try one and tell me what you think- Dr Physler"

INT LAB

Lisa eats one of her tommatos as she reads an email

NARATOR 1

"To the left towards the morning one of the hills kind of has a divot in top of it. that could be bowl in question" said the bear Sarah paused "Thank you bear. i apologize agian The bear nodded and wandered away "its rare to get an apology in the forest, especially from a human" Sarah smiled. That been a sollution. "Thank you agian" But she looked up into the woods towards the hills the thought occured. To go any futher into them would provide a perilious excersise-good sense precluded-at least by herself

From: Doctor Bennet

Dr. Physler your attempts to be very through in documentary this incident are heartening, but i do think moving on and repeating the experiment is of value. See what it goes-i know doubt this maybe the most intresting thing we learn, but you never know. And the worst i can see happening is the obvious we get the same result, which frankly is the more intresting result

I admire your concerning malfeseance-but i strongly doubt it. If it was anyone else i realize your almost kind of knee jerk concern to cast your self under suspcious-would be well suspcious-but well if it was anyone else. :)

Lisa finishes her off

LISA

this does taste odd.

she looks back at her counter its empty. and she has the look off does she want to fill it.

INT ROOM-MONTAUGE

we see Lisa and in kind wide shots ana and daryl putting back together a version of the experiment they had before, which is very laborious to do

during the montauge she types this email.

dear Doctor Bennet

there is a fact i have been trying to keep. I do know the cause of the incident-or at least strongly suspect the latent one. Roughly 2 weeks ago i devoloped the power to effect, and to largely control the growth, and in some degree movement of plants, both angliosperns and Conifers. Accelerate them to incredible levels. i haven't tried it on ginkos ferns and other verns-but i suspect i wold see similar power. The incident itself i am fairly certain was caused by me accidentaly-i was involved. The incident in the last week in the half have been in a word: Extrodinary. And i lack the words. i am not sure i am doing it remote justice-i apolgize for not telling you. its just-i worry that i would be considered insane. that has always been a fear of mine. And if i am not insane. i worry about being confined to a lab. that reminds me to much of childhood. These fears are incredible to me-and i don't know how to express them. At the same time-i'm a scientist-and my obligation is to truth-and this truth is the most astonishing thing imaginable-i have several theroizes of how, but there only theroies-no proof. i have several ideas of what i could do-just agian fear of execution. I do know that growing more plants on the table trying to not influence there growth-sounds....hollow.

she looks...and then closes the tab. we see her draft folder has a dozen emails to Bennet with similar titles.

INT DOJO

Lisa now wearing a gi is doing push ups-very easily while the class isn't even the more advanced students.

NARRATOR 1

"So" to Be clear Said dannery "You wish to go into the royal forest and find a strange bowl"

the sensi watches her

SENSI

15..16..17

INT DOJO

Lisa does punches.

NARRATOR 1 (O.S)

"in the sense of space in a hill, not a chalice" said Sarah

SENSI

4

she punches

SENSI

5

she punches

INT DOJO

Lisa does a fairly complex combination ending in a roundhouse kick.

NARRATOR 1

"Yes interptured that-for what reason may i ask?"

Lisa sees herself in the mirror and looks pleased

NARRATOR 1

"I do not wish to say" said sarah

INT DOJO

agianst a second woman, Lisa spars. once agian she really is getting beat up here- she does try to punch and connect-but its not enough-she fights some more till she falls down.

NARRATOR 1

"is this some matter of state" Asked Dannery. "I am not sure" "Which i shall interprut as no" said Dannery

INT DOJO LATER

Lisa sits down holding her face for a second drinking water.

NARRATOR 1

"Which i shall interprut as no" said Dannery

the sensi comes over.

NARRATOR 1

"Your job is to protect me" said Sarah "Where ever i go, and this is where i wish

SENSI

you work out a lot don't you.outside of here?

LISA

yeah

NARRATOR 1

Dannery smushed in her face "Your a child. I have three times your age and wisdom. "Is this dangerious?" said sarah

SENSI

most people-most people kind of use this as there gym.

LISA

that makes sense. You offer private classes?

NARRATOR 1

"All Things are dangerious" said dannery "Your in danger right now"

SENSI

Yes. But i don't think that would help you right now

LISA

i am not making progress

NARRATOR

1 "seriously"

SENSI

oh you are, you are. you are.

she points to a wall with belts hanged up on it as decoration

NARRATOR 1

"possibly" said dannery "I wouldn't worry to much about the animals or things like that The woods have grown feral in the last decade- there could be bandits or men on the run.

SENSI

here we go from White, Orange, yellow, Blue, Brown Red Black. There are certainly things above this-but most of the stuff we learn here will take you to about Blue. Narrator 1

NARRATOR 1

"please"

LISA

thats good.

NARRATOR 1

"Not with out your mothers permission" sighed dannery. Sarah noded and left A Half an hour latter Sarah returned "She said yes"

SENSI

And you would do good in that. you have very good form-monkey see what i do, you do. Your very fit, very fit. Probabbly fitter then i am.

NARRATOR 1

"What?" said dannery "I...

LISA

thank you

NARRATOR 1

"You can ask her yourself if you wish" said Sarah "But i am telling the lords truth. i told her i was reading a book on forest life, and wished to go in a mini expedition to the forest. My Father was present and he approved it-one should know something of this. It is after our royal forest. if we don't use it like this when shall we. Embrace time while we have it. "

SENSI

but theres this one lession-and it is the lession. Its what the other person is doing. in Martial arts its doing things over and over till they become second nature to you-but you have to know when to do it. And i could teach you private lession and after private lession-but well you need other people. You need other people to get that going. See the world

NARRATOR 1

Dannery sighed "These wood shall be your death-which is your choice. but if its mine..."

LISA

oh

the sensi gets up

NARRATOR 1

Sarah realized that now she was prboabbly faster then the fastest horse. that with her new powers stronger then dannery ever would be-a squad maybe two. The reason for the excersie she thought was perhaps foolish.

SENSI

but thats a good thing! thats a real good thing. You get two notches on your belt before you get orange-I'll say in a month we can test for the first notch. I was a little reluctant to take you in Lisa, but i am glad your here.

Lisa looks up

NARRATOR 1

But well appearences where in effect.

EXT STREET

Lisa walks down the street taking it in.

NARRATOR 1

They set out the next morning Her Dannery, And Servent a girl Gallis who was roped in. Gallis was actually fairly young, the daughter of the court musician-maybe 5 years older then Sarah, and quite bueatiful which made Sarah Feel self consciousness of being at the age when one is aware of this but not sure it would happen

She sees a diner One did not have to go through the hedge to the wood-in fact there was a road that left the city that went through farmlands towards the north, and then broke off in a path towards the wood.

INT DINNER

she sits at table looking around the space.

NARRATOR 1

As they reached this fork, after a few hours of light travel in a warmish day, Sarah became realized that this new path was in very poor condition

a waitress goes up

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

What had once been well tended gravel

WAITRESS

what do you want?

NARRATOR 1

was now barely dirt, with grass and pot holes

LISA

i see you have rice-brown or white

NARRATOR 1

in some places only the indication of a path-it was folloable.

WAITRESS

white

LISA

okay. I'll have that.

WAITRESS

and on it

NARRATOR 1

She saw a farm family that didn't speak but whose site suggested that passage along this road was something enough to be an event in itself

LISA

how about...Carrots.

WAITRESS

carots and rice.

LISA

and a coke. A diet coke. i'll ave that.

WaITRESS

okay save room for desert

NARRATOR 1

She smiled and gave a royal wave.

LISA

I'll do that thank you.

she sits comfortably. She hears something. Janet and robert are having an argument, she ignores it for a momment.

NARRATOR 1

After a mile they reached a gate to the forest which seemed definitly formed-a fine well done gate into which they carved the royal seal, that belied the fact there was no real wall. While there was a small house next to it, no one was there to bother them.

ROBERT (OS)

i can't stand

JANET

jesus robert

Lisa turns to see that this is the next table behind her. to see Robert and Janet, both about 50 older couple.

NARRATOR 1

"should we knock "dannery said "or go right in?"

ROBERT

Don't think i won't get you right here right now. i am not a coward. you are you lousey bitch

robert raises his hand but doesn't swing..

NARRATOR 1

Sarah ignored her as she personally got off her horse to push open the gate

LISA

looks over and then grabs roberts hand

ROBERT

what the..

NARRATOR 1

Sarah smiled and open the passage to them, and so they went in.

LISA

don't hurt her.

NARRATOR 1

There was a path into the forest that went to a small compound of the forester and an old old hunting lodge-but they did not travel that path, instead traveling per the bear instructions into the deep forest towards the hills

ROBERT

jesus

Janet looks at her

JANET

what are you doing?

LISA

you don't need a guy

Lisa lets go of robert hand who looks cross

JANET

hes my husband. Hes my husband for 10 years two kids and a cancer scare

LISA

he should

NARRATOR 1

"I prepared a lemon smash" said Gallis "would you like some?" "No" said sarah "Jam and Biscuts?" "No"

JANET

don't tell me how to live my life. look at your. Your a rich bitch wanta be model. I have to live out here!! its hard, and you just can't bang in here and hurt my Robert. You lookinh for cheep sanctimonious thrills.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah smiled at her though riding her horse. Being a princess as one said had advantages by itself, a power by itself that she should apreciate-even if not this

LISA

if you want...

JANET

i don't want anything from you.

LISA

gets up and walks away...she sees the waitress and walks out the restraunt.

INT LIVING ROOM

Lisa sits in her living room playing with her guiena pig.

NARRATOR 1

She had spent the last two days in secret practicing her abilities find the basement was a good place to practice lifting heavy barrels or pig iron-there she had truely discovered no limits to her strength, though some weights did produce some restraints on her muscles which suggested they did exist . There was however she discovered a swimminess-one becomes familiar with the burdens of weight, and if they left the entire world felt as if she was underwater but speed was normal-if anything increased She had practiced her sword work with the invisible blade She could move it faster and truer then before-which itself required a fair amount of mental calculation to work out in her head-this felt diffrent. The fact that she normally longer felt stressed and tired by action was for one-she had no need to rest. Sleep came but it felt strange and callow. The strangness of it felt prfound.

EXT. BACKYARD

Lisa steps outside with her bow and arrow-and shoots at the target.

NARRATOR

Which is the why of the quest hit her? What was her purpose.

she puts a seed on one end of an arrow and then at the other end near the tip to balance it.

NARRATOR 1

There had been some tell in the peice of a "Nast" which she had interupted as some kind of monster or villian-but she had no idea of what kind.

Lisa shoots-and hitsground right in front of the target. tendrils of vine grow all around it

LISA

i supose thats actually the spot.

( (beat) )

If there not on concrete. Yeah.

NARRATOR 1

Narrator She imagined that it was her job to defeat it, but that was imagination.

she looks around at her backyard

EXT. HOUSE

"Clear Grow Gardening company", truck comes up to Lisas house

THE GARDNER walks up and knocks on her front he knocks. The door opens

Lisa comes dressed for excersise running

LISA

Lisa sorry i was doing a run.

GARDENER

no problem-you called for Clear grow.

LISA

The gardeners yeah-lets go around

EXT BACKYARD.

Lisa opens the gate with the gardener-her backyard is a mass of vines, trees and banana plants. Its a disaster. but you can see the formally ordered space still on the isdes .

LISA

As you can see my backyard is a bit of a mess

GARDENER

I can see, i can see

LISA

yeah-i'll go through it, but i want most of this stuff out.

GARDENER

yeah...but the lawn looks good

LISA

oh i mowed it three weeks ago-you know i am busy these days you maybe you can do that to-or can I just..you know better you do it

Lisa nods and pats

GARDNER

this is going to take some time-may have to get a hauling truck out. Theres going to be stumps. this is going to take 3 guys maybe a week.

Lisa pauses

LISA

I work during the week-is this going to be a problem.

GARDNER

just give us the keys-where bonded.

Lisa pauses

GARDNER

we could get a porta potey but i don't want to.

she pauses

LISA

i could have tided this up a little more-oh well.

she pats him on the shoulder, and then turns on her headphones

NARRATOR 1

And she in theroy did not have a problem with that.

LISA

see that vine around the target? Get that first.

she walks off

NARRATOR 1

This quest was perhaps intended to find its rightful owner and return it-but with this new reality what was that

LISA

don't go in the garage.

GARDNER

okay...sure um

LISA

I'll put it all in the garage

GARDNER

i don't care!

INT GARAGE

Lisa has set up a large work table-like you buy in home depot-really the entire garage has an assembled from home depot vibe. in one corner is the guiena pig cage as a montauge devolops.

NARRATOR 1 .

Did she want this Armor that would make her 'invincible' instead, and what whould this mean. She did not have easy anwsers. Being the worlds greatest warrior meant you where the worlds best at stabing people. So they traveled. As they crested the hill The ground it turned was somewhat swampy up the hill from old snow that didn't pentrate through dark trees this was strange but real to sarah cooped up so often in the palice to see snow on such a warm spring day

* on it are a bunch of vaccum seal machinery used in 3d Printing

*on a screen is a video on plastic shaping

* she puts out work table for fabric

* She has a fairly good sketch of a work belt suspenders type deal- various seeds are indicated in it. on puches

* she uses a cgi image to create a model of a belt holder

*she looks at a strap of cloth

what is it?

NARRATOR 1

"But"

LISA

its personal

Lisa pauses.

NARRATOR 1

"Thats an order"

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

And gallis with what common sense she possed ran

LISA

Your the person who likes brainstorming

DARYL

Sure.

she goes to a whiteboard and sets it up and writes Asylicten

NARRATOR 1

Seven of the men dismounted "Noble a witness isn't a bad thing, all things considered

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused and waited and watched as the men-all big looking to her, all strong looking came forward.

LISA

what would you say to someone with increased levels of Asylicten in there blood

daryl pauses

Lisa Writes

NARRATOR 1

Sarah shook. She half thought she was crazy. Well time to test.

LISA

56 parts per million

DARYL

i am not a doctor- i am not studying medicine

NARRATOR 1

The men stood for a second seeming to debate silently strategy..

LISA

fair point,but any conc..

DR. BENNET 40, an other doctor who we have had a lot of emails walks in. Hes a big kind overweight-but nerd.

NARRATOR

When the last man dismounted-the meanest and largest bald as midnight, and came at her with the pace of a man who in no hurry.

BENNET

I would say they would be dead

LISA

doctor Bennet

BENNET

are you okay?

NARRATOR 1

she stood stock still as he came up

LISA

where talking hypothetically

NARRATOR 1

"lets be easy"

DARYL

what she talking about

NARRATOR 1

When she extended her hand with a quake and punched him in his face. And watched him fly back 30 feet and hit a tree.

BENNET

Its a chemical associated with brain acitivty, its kind of bioprodoct of it. When we send callories to it, its what left over

LISA

yes

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused and watched the man hit and bounce back. forward

DARYL

so someone would increased brain activity-be like super smart

NARRATOR 1

The other men stood watching and then the tree crcaked and fell down backwards "Get her" said there leader

BENNET

Your brains do a lot of stuff-your not rereading dianetics..if i remember its not so much smarter as a lot of the small stuff the brains do-regulate blood flow, that kind of stuff

Lisa has written-super smart brain flow

NARRATOR 1

They looked at him.

LISA

maybe

NARRATOR 1

And in a momment they all climbed on there horses and road away as fast as they could

DARYL

do you have an anwser?

LISA

no, just brainstorming.

BENNET

well...its generally says that person is likely...what is that....whats normal

NARRATOR 1

There leader paused a momment longer looking at sarah before doing the same.

LISA

15

BENNET

producing 3 and half times as much atp as normal. Thats math.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused and stood there for a second. When a dog jumped on. her "You hurt the master"

DARYL

3.6

BENNET

thanks. I don't think a body could hold that up for any period-the endicromic system couldn't produce that kind of calories

Lisa writes-"should be dead" on the board

NARRATOR 1

It grabed her shoulder with its powerful bite, wh knocking sarah down digging through her vest and jacket to hit skin.

LISA

well i am glad i am doing this.

DARYL

is there anything else that produces this.

BENNET

Potentially a bunch of chemicals associated with brain activity

NARRATOR 1

She screamed suprised

DARYL

Phermones.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"You hurt the master" Said its fellow as it bit her leg

BENNET

Thats an overly broad statement of a bunch of diffrent chemicals the brain produces

NARATOR 1

Sarah screamed and kicked forward, but the dog stayed on thrown but holding "The master" said a third dog that came at her throat

DARYL

but....

BENNET

sure i guess-some of them. this is one of the brain storming session i enter in a little half cocked.

She writes it down

NARRATOR 1

she lifted up a hand to stop it putting it towards her face. she grabed its muzzle -but it pushed it forward. Despite what strength she had just excersied the strength of the dog was greater.

LISA

but let say yes

BENNET

well Doctor Physler..no no thats a joke i took to many seminars not to take

LISA

what is it?

BENNET

when we associate pheremones mainly with physical attraction, being the most alpha male you want to sleep with, the most bueatiful desirable woman-

NARRATOR 1

She screamed to the heavens and moved side to side.

LISA

i see the joke.

NARRATOR 1

which was her savings grace as she started to roll down the hill

BENNET

right i am glad you do, and your err.

DARYL

I am gay and your not doing anything for me.

NARRATOR 1

The three dogs on her, the one bitting her shoulder let go, but the one grabbing her hand and the one on her foot rolled with her

LISA

you are?

BENNET

I picked up on that imedieatly

NARRATOR 1

Down down the side of the hill, down brickets of dead leaves and branches which bit into feeling the claw of the dog constantly

DARYL

well i do my best. But i don't have super phermone powers. But let say not the chemicals that attract humans-but attract plants.

NARRATOR 1

she looked down and saw a big rock, huge bolder bellow her. she winced, but had the flash of an idea, she lifted up her leg a bit which caused her turn slightly to the left

LISA

yeah

BENNET

well when everything is a hammer, it all looks like nails.

LISA

what do you mean?

NARRATOR 1

And as she rolled down caused her foot..and the dog still clinging and trying to drag her to hit itself on it. It winced as it let go, and she didn't see its fate but hoped it was good. The dog on her her hand she moved to bring it to her chest, as she kept rolling it fought letting go of her hand and going to her throat-it was all she could do to stop it Till she hit with her stomach a tree and felt it crush between her

BENNET

where botanists-we deal with plant biomes all day. So the first thing that happens to us is we think plants. plants plants. I mean why not oh-dogs dogs respond to phermones, incredibly well. Or Algae-or everything. and i know where this going Dr Physler-there is no way a human being could conciosuly will, or even effect plant die off-there is no phermone that does that. Nothing to give her the kind of power to make there growth stay consistent. thats the kind of impossible that is only in some kind of werid science fiction.

Lisa pauses. she gives a very delibrate practiced "thats silly" smile.

NARRATOR 1

"master"

LISA

of course not.

NARRATOR 1

"I'm sorry" "The master won't be pleased" "I'm so sorry" "Tell the master i was a good dog and i did my best" "I will" she paused "You are a good dog" and watched it die.

DARYL

the brain can do a lot-its more powerful then any computer, cause its not 1s and zeros going agianst anything. Even if where not intending it to-yeah your right that if i started spewing it out right away it wouldn't do anything-but if i could control it i could control it. Even if we don't think it.

Lisa looks at daryl. she moves to write that down but doesn't

NARRATOR

1 Just then she turned to see a figure walk down the mountion. it was the mountion of the man from before, he was taking his time, as the ground was very uneven, so sarah was able to get to her feet. his body looked as far as she could like one big bruise.

LISA

i mean thats good thoughts Daryl.

BENNET

it sound fantastic without proof. Look we have been over extensivly the plant die off

LISA

we should talk more imperson i mean your just across the hall.

BENNET

we should-but i don't want to put this down in a report-chief biologist suddenly devolops plant ESP. That don't look good to the budget people if nothing else.

NARRATOR 1

"Your bleeding" the man observed "Did my mutts burst yous

LISA

well..i see your point.

INT HALL

BENNET walks-and goes out the door to open the one across the hall. Lisa follows

NARRATOR 1

"They where good dogs and they there best" said sarah

WILLIAM I

t is nice talking to you-and even if you never find one that happens-well sometimes you shrug your shoulders.

INT LAB

Lisa stands in front of the board and smiles

NARRATOR 1

"Good for them" his sword glinted. "You got a very very good blow in-but i am not the type to runaway, and i am not the type to get beat by a girl"

LISA

thank you very much.

DARYL

i do good?

NARRATOR 1

Sarah smiled and pulled out her sword.

LISA

Yes. And good luck in being gay. I hear thats hard.

EXT. HOUSE

NARRATOR 1

"you maybe strong..." She wasn't.

she looks at herself in the mirror. she puts on a helmet-which looks a lot like a bike helemet.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

Sarah realized her strategy would be to run, but her foot was hurt and bleeding badly and she realizing walking would be a pain let alone a run.

she looks around

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

dignity would be best.

EXT BACKYARD.

The backyard is about 1/3rd cleared she walks around a bit. it feels bulky

third one hits a little better

NARRATOR 1

"Are you okay?" said dannery at the top of the hill with her bow.

forth one is about the same.

NARRATOR 1

She watched the man fall down dying "Um"

fifth we don't see

she looks up to see the chin up bar

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"Are you okay mistress?" said dannery

Sarah saw gallis standing next to her.

carrying everythig she is wearing, she moves and does a pullup. and another. and another...on the forth she lets go, catching her breath.

1 "I'll be fine" said sarah "just....this is a mess"

LISA

Dannery laughed a weary laugh "Ain't it all"

she sits down. takes out her laptop. she looks.

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

Sarah nodded "My foot is hurt"

she puts her cellphone on the pile -33.

NARRATOR 1

"Don't worry to much" said dannery "Will get the horses and come down for you "Find a smoother path"

She breaths out and takes out a spreadsheet

"Total weight 33 "

she adds 2 more collum anticpated futre materials 5 Total 38

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa does 10 pulls up with a 25 pound weight.

NARRATOR 1

when she saw something. As she had slidd down the mountion she had made a path of leaves dislodged. But in there was a faint glint.

EXT BACKYARD

Lisa does pullup with 30 pounds this is hard.

NARRATOR 1

sarah sighed. She saw that the sword was in her hand, but that did not help her foot feel not throbing . she placed it back under her shirt.

INT BATHROOM

Lisa writes-target-25-30 pounds

she looks at her stuff.

NARRATOR 1

She lifted her bad foot up on her good one-with her enhanced power felt acceptable...and started to hop up the mountion. this was doable, but no amount of vigor makes it dignifed. She moved in an akward hop up the hill, trying to keep her balance. Bounce bounce. when she bounced agian and with a big floop overshot it. as she hit the ground she landed on her good foot, but didn't stick the landing and fell backwards with a hard fall tht that hurt a great deal. that hurt some more. that really hurt more. both her legs felt bad. but she turned her side and saw the metal glint she reached out an arm with all her might

Lisa pauses

INT GARAGE

Lisa goes to her guiena pig who is squeeking unhappily at her.

NARRATOR 1

"Mistress are you okay" said gallis with the picnic basket And the metal was gone.

Lisa pulls out her guiena pig and sits on the ground stroking and petting it softly. it calms down.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah sighed "I'll survive" Gallis smiled "Thank you for what you did-its noble." She then reached into her picnic basket, and sarah saw once more the metal, and withone very very quick movment grabed it. and brought it forward.

Lisa starts crying.

ANA

NARRATOR 1

It took considerable effort to get sarah back home.

LISA

i realized i am not spending enough time with my guiena pig last night.

Ana looks askew at that.

NARRATOR 1

Dannery dressed the wounds as best as she could with the material at hand, but that was not much, she dared do except risk infection.

ANA

thats to bad, but thats the kind of thing you can fix

LISA

Yeah, i guess your right-but at what cost.

ANA

do guinea pigs like chew toys.

LISA

thats a good idea.

INT LIVING ROOM

NARRATOR 1

Lisa sits with a couple of guiena pig toys in her living room playing with it. She has moved the cage back into the room

NARRATOR 1

There her parents when they where told where both relived and frightened-though she told her wounds weren't bad. She was woried they would be angry, but neither where which she was quite glad for just glad she was alive, and saddened when the doctor told them her news.

INT OFFICE

Lisa sits at her desk. she types an email to Dr. Bennet

"i don't want to jinx it obviously, but this new batch seems to be growing in acceptable peramaters-which means in this case not exactly what i ancticipated. Its going smoothly and well, and i don't see any problems with it.

NARRATOR 1

She felt a kind of numb to it.

her phone buzzes.

INT LUNCH ROOM

Lisa talks on the phone eating lunch.

NARRATOR 1

The first night a nurse was assigned to her day and night, never giving her a momments peice-but when ever she wasn't there the armor appeared in her hand-and all the pain and inconcienve-just an itchs went away-only the kind of stifness of the cast.

LISA

thank you for checking up but i decided not to come to class.

SENSI

(on phone) )

is this just for a class

LISA

i suspect i am quiting. haven't entirely decided but yes

SENSI

okay. Would you like to talk about it.

LISA

well.. not right now.

SENSI

maybe.

INT LAB

Lisa looks at the miniature biome which looks kind of impressive

NARRATOR 1

She looked better her first impression was right -it appeared to be a mail shirt with a high color-bigger then her but not majorily so.

Lisa looks over to a normal plant in the lab and extends a finger to absently make it grow.

NARRATOR 1

She wished to put the armor on, but the nurse had placed a light gown on that would not let her fit this in.

She shook her head

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

A numbness in mind.

INT DOJO

Lisa is in the dojo with the Sensi

NARRATOR 2

She was confined more or less to her bedroom to heal. Heal and think of her future.

SENSI

so what do you do?

NARRATOR 2

And think of what to do.

LISA

i am biologist for the US goverment

NARRATOR 1

The fact that the next day it rained fit. She sat in her room and pouted. A book was brought in. It was a book about ancient history, but it was rather dry, mainly lineages of kings past long gone.

SENSI

wow. Anyways-i know i said-if you wanted to quit after 2 weeks you could, i would tear up the check. You did 3 weeks-how about i give you a refund of 500 dollars.

NARRATOR 1

She sat in her room. Lisa thats...acceptable.

NARRATOR 2

The Nurse Annis Sarah had never really met, and while she could not say her company was bad, the plump older woman mainly sat in a corner and knit

SENSI

okay-i cashed the check already so i had to see you in person-this is you know.

NARRATOR 2

She didn't talk much...

LISA

fair enough

NARRATOR 2

only sat with a vauge smile..

SENSI

i got to ask why though.

NARRATOR 2

she was just there, preventing sarah from using her magic to feel better. Becuse when ever she was gone for a momment- sarah felt so much better.

LISA

i just..i have decided to....its not that it hurt, i don't want you to think getting punched- though that was frustrating

NARRATOR 2

The diffrence was astonding, and every momment it was became more so.

SENSI

everyone gets punched. i have goten more punches..

NARRATOR 2

She also thought of the violence.

LISA

its that ..it didn't feel like i want to go there.

NARRATOR 2

she had seen people fight before, seen an execution, seen stuff

SENSI

didn't you mention you where in archery-like 10th ranked?

LISA

9th yeah.

NARRATOR 2

-but there was something so profoundly vivid to it when it happened to ones own, in front of you, disgusting and horrible and somehow exciting. She had not killed any human, but listening to the dogs crys gave her nightmares.

SENSI

what about that?

LISA

thinking of quiting that to. At least competitivly probabbly am. I would have to do traveling-and if i actually did get into the olympics that a big to do.

NARRATOR 1

She thought of what had happened.

SENSI

that i get-i almost got into the olympics.

Lisa

oh

SENSI

12 years ago takewando

LISA

but you do....

SENSI

you do diffrent things in this business-i have tought yoga which i am no good at-but -they had so many spots, i made like the second round and the first round

LISA

i don't want to be a human intrest story. given my condition i can almost...

SENSI

yeah and this took like a month to do. Bad timing really-i had just given birth to my first child-yeah. well life isn't convient

NARRATOR 1

she shook her head. There was sense here. But She thought of the words. With two calls of the horn-the sword, armor would become real. Well real to this world. She could become the greatest knight ever. And this damm leg would set.

LISA

I feel comftorable. And i enjoy that. i am wealthy-far wealthier then i really need. I enjoy my job-i am in fantastic health. i have something that really loves me and i took advantage of it. So what if i am not the most social person. What if i like what i have.

NARRATOR 1

She sighed.

SENSI

I get that.

NARRATOR 1

She heard a knock. Annis paused "What is it" "Come in" said sarah

LISA

and for what-foolish stupid ideas that don't work in the real life

NARRATOR

Dannery walked in, wearing finery for her, a red dress of much embradrary and well done hair.

SENSI

if your doing kung fu to win a street fight-don't- i always always tell my students that.

NARRATOR 1

"Greetings your princess" "You look good" said Sarah

LISA

I suspect you are 100% correct in that statement.

NARRATOR 1

"The king is giving a presentation to town to give me a reward for my service" said dannery "Thought i should look good, but since the other gaurds are going to be there, i am worried they will just snicker. Try to been like a man for so many years this is what gets me"

SENSI

but i think you should still do it-do this, do the archery, do what ever else you have got in your backpocket. There is so much out there-so much to learn, to do to see-where are they doing the olympics?

LISA

tokyo.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah smiled "Whats your reward" "500 marks, been told and a silver plate" said Dannery "I suspect the kidnappers wouldn't have asked for that much more"

SENSI

oh wow. you should go see that regardless-big city tons of people-but so much neat stuff. And maybe you go on TV some little girl thinks-well i can do that, and not be one of those characters on stupid movies like the hunger games.

NARRATOR 1

"Thats enough to retire on" said sarah. "Probabbly" danner paused "I supose your right. The first time i have thought of that to be honest. I am to old i think for children.

LISA

What if...i donno. I see what your getting at-and the world...the world isn't perfect-and maybe....certainly i can't see it quite for that. I want to though. i want to help it.

NARRATOR

1 To many men to be married. I supose i could afford a nice house, an emolment-learn the art of cooking.

SENSI

okay-new deal. New Deal. one more class. Belt cermony. You do well you get the belt-i still give you the 500 dollars back. Remember, i am legally entitled to keep it all

NARRATOR 1

She sighed "Nurse maid can you leave us alone for a momment

LISA

i don't care. i could give you 500 dollars more.

NARRATOR 1

"Do so madam, Dannery is good care for a momment" And Annis nodded and walked out. "What is this" said Dannery "What is this about?"

SENSI

Well i do. Becuse i care about you. Even if you don't belive anything else-belive that i care. So....do it for me.

Lisa nods. After a momment she shrgs Lisa shrugs

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused.

LISA

yes. Sensi

INT LIVING ROOM

Lisa walks in and sees the pile of stuff on the table.

NARRATOR 1

"What is this" "Its a quest" said sarah at last. "Oh i know all about those" said Dannery "all about them" "you do?"

she sighs and shrugs

* she looks at the spreadsheet. She takes off the elbow pads its now 30 pounds. She makes a star

* she takes off the shoulder pads. its now 25 pounds. she puts them back on the elbow pad

* She goes back online and sees a smaller quiver for arrows. its weight is 2 pounds as oposed to 5. she puts that on the spreadsheet

* she looks at the helmet

INT GARAGE

she works to glue hard plastic and melt things on it to give it a kind of vine theme.

NARRATOR 1

'When i was at the frontier-every couple of years a new commander would come in, usually with a plan to make it better the lines a little strong, see if we could get away with an inch more

INT BATHROOM

she puts it on the scale

NARRATOR 1

. Deal with these bandits, this trooper with forts of there own, with circumspect in war.

INT LIVING ROOM

she plays with her gueina pig and hugs him close.

NARRATOR 1

It was all pointless mind you. I could have told them that.

she works to glue hard plastic and melt things on it to give it a kind of vine theme.

INT GARAGE

she works sewing and puts things on a model we don't quite see. the guiena pig is back in the garage

NARRATOR 1

The thing is with the way the border was sets you could have over run us or ignored us without much bother in a real invasion. But they did it-and they where quests. Usually they made things worse. ocasionally much For a peaceful border-i saw way to many people die-not just arrows guns or swords-though i saw some of that-disease. So much Diseases and flus. Cold. Frost bite is a nasty thing. Starvation heat bring men mad. But it was a quest. a good quest, one i came on"

INT LAB.

Lisa is back in her lab drinking her diet coke, elsewhere ana sits.

NARRATOR 1

Sarah paused. Not knowing what to say. "You have ideas" said dannery "Big ones don't you. Maybe even rommantic ones.

after a beat ana calls up

NARRATOR 1 (cont'd)

"yes" said Sarah

ANA

hey can i show you something

Lisa walks over

NARRATOR 1

She paused "one that need not involve you. Your quest is over-find a nice home by a river-take up cooking or painting of what ever you wish. I know there is things like Enrolments and terms but-i can..."

LISA

sure

Ana lifts up her hand. she has an engagement ring.

LISA

wow. your getting married

NARRATOR

Dannery paused "No dear I want to see you on your quest"

NARRATOR 1

"It doesn't matter. After this leg sets i doubt my parents let me will leave the castle walls until i am old enough to marry off"

ANA

Yeah. My boyfriend poped the question over the weekend in New Orleans

LISA

wow congratulations.

ANA

thank you.

Lisa pauses.

LISA

i am happy for you

NARRATOR 1

"Becuse I have nothing else"

ANA

its-werid, its strange-but...

she trails off and goes to a microscope. Lisa pauses and turns off her headphones.

LISA

Did i ever you tell you about my husband?

ANA

You?

LISA

Yes

ANA

Your married?

LISA

Oh no, Divorced.

ANA

you where maried?

LISA

thats what i said-oh oh maybe i was confusing.

ANA

its okay-its just-wow. i never knew that about you-you just don't...you don't seem like the marrying type Dr Physler

LISA

yeah, well.I just thought i would mention as you brought it up.

ANA

i just imagine you-siting at home, working on some research paper. With a cat

LISA

I don't own a cat.

ANA

right, i am sorry

Lisa sighs and sits down.

LISA

I was graduating college. He went to college.

ANA

ahh that sounds right

LISA

He-i think he saw me as a challenge-we met in class he was my lab partner or became one-he saw me as a challenge to crack. I was on the track team.

ANA

i thought you where an archer

LISA

i ran track a long time. He saw me as this challenge that he had to win. Very competive man Tommy was. Very competive.

ANA

thats true

LISA

we where together two years. i wanted to go to Grad school, get my masters like you are-but my mother was worried about me living alone. She liked him after awhile. she denies it but she did. So we moved into together when i moved to Georgia-i went there because he went there. Then we got married. Yeah. We where married-for four years.

ANA

it doesn't sound happy

LISA

no no it wasn't. He never...he never physically beat me. Nothing like that-well once.

ANA

Jesus

LISA

he never did stuff like that. But what he did-the things he liked in me, the challenges, he thought he beat me-not like physically in this case but you know like in a game a sport. He thought he beat them. That i would turn into this fun loving, lets go for a trip this weekend type woman-i wasn't. And i wanted to make him happy. For the first three years i tried really hard, hard through all of it. And he would get mad at me, or get sad-the sad was almost worse-i wanted to make him happy and i couldn't. How could i do that to him?

ANA

I am so sorry

Lisa looks up to see Daryl standing in the doorway

LISA

You didn't do anything. I am making this about me. its about you.

ANA

well your...your not...your. A good person

DARYL

yeah, you are doctor.

LISA

But if you can..you Can Ana-thats really

ANA

aw...th.....

Anas head explodes. *Very* graphically.

Lisa looks up across the room from a door. to see Madeson-looking very drunk threatening and holding a rifle.

Madison you where a pretty fucking bitch. not any more though

he looks at Lisa.

Narrator 2 starts SCREAMING maybe there is words here but you can't make them out. Theres just the sound wailing anguish which goes on VERY LOUDLY throughout the scene.

MADISON

you to.

madison takes up the gun to shoot-but Lisa ducks down behind the counter she ducks

Lisa cowers. she looks over to see ana-really graphically destroyed head. she quivers

DARYL

ehh

she looks up to see daryl has garbed Madison, and is attempting to fight him up. in vauge details trying to wrestle the gun from him. Lisa trembles. she looks grabing with her hands down to find her quiver, her bow, her seeds all of it.

There not there. Nothing is there. She looks around her lab for something. she gets up seeing a big vial of what looks like seeds-she stands and throws this at Madison

it flies through the air and scatters all over the ground. And do absuluetly nothing.

Both he and daryl look at it as if to be startled. Lisa screams.

daryl uses the distraction to dislodge his gun-he is triumpant till madsen knocks him down on the ground. with his hand. he takes a handgun out of his pocket and shoots him in the gut. hes breathing

Lisa watches for it moving for the gun as well-but when she sees that, she turns and runs away

Lisa reaches the door daryl shoots

MADISON

run bitch

Lisa reaches the door-as she does madison shoots her in the leg.

Lisa stays up though and walks-surving it pretty well if slower. she keeps moving

MADISON (cont'd)

run.

she moves down the hall to see Doctor Wilson on the ground bleeding.

WILSON

Help me

Lisa pauses

LISA

this may seem odd but my logic suggests this is a good idea.

Wilson screatches she turns and runs away-but the way she was coming she turns down a diffrent hall.

madison comes after her

MADISON

your the athelete right Physler

LISA

i am more then that.

MADISON

oh shit-do you even remember my name.

LISA

Francis Radclife Madison.

MADISON

no one remembers me.

Lisa turns to the break room. int here Susan is cowering

SUSAN

please..what

Lisa looks at her..shot but she feels it.

LISA

get me a paper towel

SUSAN

what!

LISA

i need your help. a very...crazy man is out there. very crazy lets go with that though thats not a medical term. Crazy. and he wants to kill us. But we can stop him.

SUSAN

i am not like you, i am not

LISA

yes you are

SUSAN

your the athelete-what would you do if you had a bow and arrow

LISA

thats an excellent question but not important now. what i need you to do-in the next room is-thats not going-in the next door over is the exit-you run out and find help. find security-or run as far away as you can.

SUSAN

how is that going to help

LISA

i can't run any more, but i can distract him.

SUSAN

i am not going to let you

LISA

if you find help that may help things.

SUSAN

i can use my cellphone.

Lisa pauses.

LISA

i didn't think of that

SUSAN

i called but where out in the middle off.

LISA

All right new plan- in the next room over there is- you run across the way-he'll see the motion and I'll come at him with this cofee machine.

SUSAN

jesus

LISA

i spent 35,000 dollars and i am using a cofee machine.

susan wimpers

LISA

I know you think you can't do this-but you can. Everything i do...i do to inspire people. i am just an iddiot with seeds and an bow, and none of this makes sense-but if can inspire you to help me now-we can save lives-save people. and that means a lot to me-that means thats what heroism is about.its all worthwhile. You called me a hero-you. Your the hero. Your the person there going to cheer.

Susan whimpers.

SUSAN

you really

Lisa moves her hands in a reasuring geasture

LISA

More then anything in my life.

SUSAN

Ehh

Lisa picks up the cofee machine and goes to the door-susan opens it and runs out

Only to instantly runs into madison. he shoots her in the gut. she screams alive but falls into the door

Lisa goes at madison with the cofee machine-his gun goes off agian, and she drops it hitting it into the wall.

Lisa moves into the hallway.

she looks at him-in slow motion

he aims the gun at her.she ducks down

he shoots creating a splash.

Lisa looks at his face-and comes up with a punch

madison wanting to hold onto the gun doesn't do anything as she keeps attacking him-2 more punches of a combination

he brings up the gun-she uses her arms to block it and hit him in the face.

she grabs the gun at the same time sidekicing him in the face-he falls backward with the gun in her hand.

she screams with the pain and holds the gun at his head

SUSAN

ahh

LISA

are you okay?

SUSAN

i hurt!

LISA

An ambulence is coming..i think

madison crawls on the ground. hes about in the entrance between the hallway and the front hall.

LISA

you have the right to remain silent-any thing you

MADISON

shoot bitch i don't want

LISA

i am not going to

MADISON

just...

LISA

your going to jail..and think...think about ehhh

Lisas leg goes out from her and she falls to the ground. she holdso nto the gun and raises- to see madison has his hand gun pointed at her.

LISA (cont'd)

Ehhh

MADISON

Your not going to shoot are you-i can do this all day-all day, and your not going to do it-

he laughs.

LISA

shut up

MADISON

i don't care-thats freedom of it all. thats the perfect freedom-nothing you can do to me. nothing. but me.

Madison realizes a vine of plant from the house plant on the side the welcome desk has grown next to him.

MADISOH

huh, huh

The Philodendrens grows over his arm and shoulder kind of envoloping it tendrals. mason looks at it with terror, though its not doing much.

just then a swat team-or something like it rushes in-

theres a flashbang with them.

madison is startled and shoots

and hits Lisa in the stomach

Lisa falls over still holding the gun.

she falls unconscious the screen going to white.

INT HOSPITAL ROOM

Lisa wakes up in a slight daze. standing over her are MOTHER, 60 whose terrified, and her brother TIM,23 whose a stoner used to her A Doctor is in the background.

MOTHER

Lisa your awake, your awake, my darling

LISA

Its okay mom, its okay. I'm fine I'm fine.

she sees the doctor. She breaths in and calms down relaxing as she closes her eyes and opens. Them.

NARRATOR 2

After so long it was present, after so long it was here. Right here. she had came to this end.

Tim waves

TIM

Hey sis

NARRATOR 2

Sarah Held the silver trumpet in her hand. It had a tremblish weight. Even with her enchanced strength she felt it-but heavy wasn't the word, or light-these could not quite describe it either.

LISA

Are you a medical doctor?

DOCTOR

Yes

LISA

Whats happened?

DOCTOR

Are you sure you...You where shot in the stomach area by a small caliber handgun-it lodged in your spleem-we had to perform emergency surgery.

NARRATOR

Few words could. It looked in somways like the old fashioned straight horns that heralds play to announce muscians if small and shorter. Compared to them it wasn't even particularly decorated just smooth but not overly.

LISA

Oh

MOTHER

But shes going to...

LISA

You don't actually need your Spleen.

DOCTOR

we where able to save it anyway but its good we got it. any kind of rupture is bad. Your still probably going to suffer the effects for awhile.

NARRATOR 2

But In someways it looked completly diffrent but she couldn't quite put a finger on. it felt diffrent, it moved in the air diffrent.

DOCTOR

your a doctor right Ms. Physler

LISA

Biologist

DOCTOR

right.

LISA

can you make mother feel more comftorable.

NARRATOR 2

Reality was diffrent for it. Sarah had seen and heard and felt strange things in the last few weeks, but this was the strangest precisly becuse she couldn't presily describe it was. She had been on one layer of reality- this object-precious and important but just a thing all the same resided on another.

DOCTOR

there is some risk of infection-but shes going to pull out of this

TIM

yeah, shes going to do great

her mother hugs her tight

MOTHER

My baby..your going to do so well-your going to stay with me for awhile, and your going to get so much better-my little Lisa, my special angel Lisa.

LISA

ehhh yeah. what about my...

Lisa pauses.

NARRATOR 2

She looked at the Dead body of Danery bellow her.

LISA

jesus christ, me, what a moron i am asking about me.

DOCTOR

you mean.

NARRATOR 2

She had wanted to see this world, and Sarahs first thought was regret. For someone so focused on the hear and now, the practicalities of life as a solder, Sarah realized that she had wanted, wonder, she had wanted to be a part of a fairy story.

LISA

hows everyone else?

DOCTOR

well...um...i can tell you that we are reporting three people died, and 5 more where injured...

LISA

Susan. Susan Armitage

DOCTOR

yeah, i think shes okay

LISA

good. Daryl..Daryl Tanden

MOTHER

honey its okay

TIM

mom.

NARRATOR 2

And it had killed her leaving a mangled corpse just shy of the reward.

DOCTOR

hes-in intensive care.

LISA

Anthony wilco. Doctor Anthony wilco

NARRATOR 2

it was a horrid result.

DOCTOR

hes-yeah he okay.

LISA

and Ana Gaysten-no....no

NARRATOR 2

People often describe bodies as stiff, hard-

DOCTOR

i can't...well i guess i just did

LISA

oh no. oh no.

she starts to cry-without moving much of her face.

NARRATOR 2

but sarah saw there was a softness to it, a way that flesh that had once been hard and unyield, seemed soft and pale, the blood leaving it to rot-not now but slowly.

MOTHER

Darling, Darling.

(She hugs her)

i am sorry, i am so sorry so so sorry. Was she your friend?

TIM

yeah

NARRATOR 2

And Sarah Wept. Deep Tears came from her eyes, and her soul, wells of sadness came from her at this event.

LISA

yes she was my friend. Was. I imagine..i imagine her fiance has been informed. i didn't even know his name.

NARRATOR 2

until she stoped

TIM

oh.

Lisa moves to get up. She sees theres a cast on her leg.

NARRATOR 2

Sarah looked down upon her city through a window-the ancient city that from this vantage point in a tower, looked so grand and magestic.

LISA

my leg

DOCTOR

yeah that i was going to tell you-that went right through your quad muscle. You looked you walked quite a bit on that.

NARRATOR 2

She saw its old buildings people milling through the street -shop keepers, dray men, children in the streets, animals. All of them. Where they happy, sad, good bad -she suposed it only mattered in the abstract-they where people.

LISA

yes

DOCTOR

That wasn't a...well it damaged it probabbly more then it should have. You should recover but its going to take at least 2-3 months before i recomend putting any weight on that leg.

LISA

oh. oh damm.

MOTHER

You can come home and will take good care of you.

Lisa tilts her head

NARRATOR 2

Her people.

And she had a quest to complete.

LISA

i don't know the status of the lab, but i have work to do, and probabbly make sure

NARRATOR 2

A grand quest.

MOTHER

someone else can do that.

NARRATOR 2

Sarah placed her sword away she trembled and took up the trumpet.

LISA

theres something i am working on-that i feel...

NARRATOR 2

She lifted it to her lips, and realized she never really blown a trumpet before. How quit did you do it.

Didn't matter she had to try.

DOCTOR

where going to keep you at least three days to monitor infection-and we did put you on some heavy pain killers-which given your condition your likely to suffer from for a couple of weeks-it would be advisable.

Lisa sighs

NARRATOR 2

And sarah did blow into it.

DOCTOR

does she have-A boyfriend, a partner, something..

NARRATOR 2

She could barely hear it at first-enough that she almost thought about starting and stoping. The noise was faint and weak at first barely a tremble, but she kept blowing, blowing in as much as her lungs would allow her-blew into a weridly trembly little note, that she kept going, kept blowing in got louder.

LISA

Tim. oh that was dumb-tim.

TIM

yeah

LISA

Tim.... I need you to go into my garage-i need you to go in and get my guiena pig

TIM

sure. I can do that.

LISA

but this is important-this is very important, i need you to swear to me, swear to me now-that no power on earth, nothing-nothing will make you revel what you find in there, and you will tell no one what you saw.

NARRATOR 2

And louder.

TIM

Yeah sis.

NARRATOR 2

A rich sound fell through the tower. and as her ears started to peel from it, grew louder still-not deafening, for deafen muffles it. she could still hear it, no matter how loud it came

LISA

good. thank you.

TIM

and take care of him.

LISA

(sighing)

yeah.

TIM

want me to bring him in, can i do that.

DOCTOR

we don't generally...

NARRATOR 2

and she stoped at last over a minute latter.

MOTHER

i know you have that archery thing-but don't worry, i am sure they'll understand, and there is plenty.

NARRATOR 2

She caught her breath, she didn't realize how it was, even with her fitness.

LISA

actually you can do archery even if i am in wheelchair-i just didn't do...

Dr. Bennet walks over

NARRATOR 2

And looked down to see the people in the city stoped as well. Not frozen-but it was clear theyh heard a loud noise and where-sensibly curious of its cause. If her quest had acomplished anything it had been to make the town curious.

DR. BENNET

you did so much already Physler

MOTHER

Hey

BENNET

Sorry i am her coworker.

mother

yeah

LISA

its okay

BENNET

so-much-yeah i was talking to Bennet-jesus. A cofee maker

LISA

i hope he understood that if i ran towards him that would have tipped off to the fact that he was still alive.

NARRATOR 2

she wondered to just leave it tere a momment, to end it there.

BENNET

I am sure he perfectly understands.

NARRATOR 2

But she had read that she had to blow it twice-stories required it to be done agian, not in jest or accident. She would have to blow a second time, to finish the story and make all the world know what had happen.

LISA

you think and you plan for all of these things, but these werid bits of thought that come to your head at the last minute-and you hope they make sense-but your not sure.

NARRATOR 2

and Sarah, after a momment to catch her breath did.

DOCTOR

Its stressful, its really stressful.

Bennet shakes his head.

NARRATOR 2

and the world heard her.

BENNET

Your a hero now Dr. Physler.

NARRATOR 2

All could now see that she was the hero-well heroine of all. Her power, her faith, and her willingness to use it for all the kingdom could not be denied, and thus they pressed praise upon her-even her mother and father, who voted to place high honors.

BENNET

My lord.Someone like you. The Autistic Woman...my lord-it would have to be someone like you.

MOTHER

don't stress out...

LISA

I was unprepared and flatfooted-i could have done more...i should have. Are you ...

BENNET

Me? i was stuck in traffic. Jesus Christ.

LISA

I am glad to hear it.

NARRATOR 2

Everyone could see it. except sarah. She could only see failure and sadness

Parade was thorwn fetes and celebration

And all sarah could see was tears and heartbreak.

BENNET

There where like 40 people in that building-i am not sure how much you saved-it could have been a lot worse-he could have....but you. Your a hero. Lisa. Thats what there calling you, out there. probabbly want to do interviews.

NARRATOR 2

This had in the end been adventure. And adventure is a fancy word for suffering.

LISA

oh dear

BENNET

Yeah yeah i hear you.

LISA

this is a bother.

NARRATOR 2

But at a point, and this became a good one to understand.

BENNET

but the thought of you- i saw susan-they got her in the stomach-pep talk and cofee makers and seeds and karate-your a hero.

NARRATOR 2

She was glad for it. There came a point she was glad to have it have it all happen, for it to work out. There is no grand line of why, no momment of transcendent.

LISA

Yes i am.

Bennet chuckles for a momment.

BENNET

and so modest

NARRATOR 2

There was a world . that maybe never really existed-that world became her reality for good or for ill. She had her legends of Ancients and things of old age-but she wondered if that was true in a sense of history and time. Maybe it all looked around.

MOTHER

Seriously don't stress out my daughter.

LISA

its okay mother. Yes i am hero-i didn't want it to start like this-but I have a lot more to do. I know that now. I feel like i have done so much already and wasted my time-but i am going to need help Yout help . Tim?

TIM

yeah

NARRATOR 2

There was a world. A world that you couldn't see or touch, but somehow know, and draw power from that knowing.

LISA

I told you about the garage, but i want doctor Bennet to do that instead if thats okay.

BENNET

whats this about?

TIM

her guiena pig

NARRATOR 2

It was not the sword, the armor, or a trumpet that gave it to her-but just her willingess to look.

LISA

Its not that -everyone, i want to talk to Doctor Bennet in private if i can.

MOTHER

Darling.

NARRATOR 2

That is what allowed this to happen. A world beyond the Garden Hedge, and not just one of vines and thorns.

LISA

Mother i love you. i love you deerly

Her mother Sighs.

LISA

don't worry there is plenty of time

DOCTOR

lets give them a..

tim draws his mother out shaking his heads as the doctor walks out, as Narrator drowns out Lisa and Bennet talking

NARRATOR 2

And Sarah Janest After heartbreak, pain and suffering vowed to protect that world, and to show others its path.

INT GARAGE

doctor Bennet opens the garage doors to see into Lisa makeshift secret layer. he looks around. There are several Strange looking plants all around it that have grown in odd ways, formed into strange arm.

NARRATOR 2

Her quest became to use that to make her world a better one if not a saner one. And maybe just maybe as she watched her prim and joyless father announce her that was a good thing. She was A Knight of the Garden Hedge and maybe the world could use some of that craziness of life wild at the edge.

He sees the now completed super suit on the mannequin.

BENNET

What the hell....what the hell...what the hell is going on?

the guiena pig is in the corner.

INT HOSPITAL

LISA

But yes also the guinea pig.

THE END.

AFTER THE CREDITS

INT. LAB

Two Detectives are in the hallway area of the lab -French, 34 and HART 36, now a crime scene with cops around

NARRATOR 1

The Next morning Qualis walked into sarahs bedroom to work to clean that morning

FRENCH

This is nothing else a mess.

Hart looks at the philodendren which was around Madison, which is huge

NARRATOR 1

As she went around minding her business she saw something with a glint of her eye-a silver trumpet that glistened a strange silver

HART

What do they do here

FRENCH

plant research

HART

research. look at the size of that thing, whats it doing practically blocking the hallway.

French moves his fingers through the thing, and sees the cut off tendrals on the ground he pauses looking it at, and picks one up.

NARRATOR 2

Qualis it should be mentioned again, was the daughter of the court musician, and was familiar with music and its production, and it while it was not hers she could not resit the urge to take it to her lips and blow.

An off screen COP calls off

COP(OS)

Hey take a look at this security camera!

NARRATOR 1

And a doom cameth into the world.
