Short workshop - Halloween 2016 was created by fats
Hi all,

Here we have our first short timed theme, the idea behind this is to give writers a theme and a restriction in one of the guidelines, this I hope will give you something meaty to work with.

The theme for this first workshop is "a Ubergirl's first Halloween"

The start date: 1 October 2016
The end date: 30 October 2016

Voting will be one week only and will be by forum vote.

the winner Will get to choose the theme of the next short workshop

Any questions please post them here.

Neat!

I'll be offline a fair chunk of this month, but I hope to have something before the deadline. Given that about a dozen different ideas went trick-or-treating through my brain just reading the theme, I look forward to a diverse array of tales to be pulled from the candy sack come the 31st :).

I just submitted my entry, 'Costume Drama.'

Got 75% done with my entry. Just need to set aside some more time to wrap up the ending.

Finished! Hope you folks like it! Had to rush the ending a bit, but I'm heading out of town for the Halloween weekend, so it was this or nuthin'. :)

I just finished a short story. Not sure what I think about it, but it's a story. First one in awhile. ;-)

Anyone want to give it look over before I submit it? It could probably use someone to knock some of the edges off it. It's about 3300 words.

I'll plan to do another edit pass on it tomorrow and submit it tomorrow night.

Hm. Is it due at the start of the 30th or the end? i.e. is it due Saturday night, right as it turns the 30th, or is it due Sunday night? (Just in case I find someone to edit it and I need Sunday to give it another pass.)

I'd prefer to get someone to make some suggestions on it, but I did write it quickly like I wrote Fog of War -- the point was to WRITE, not get hung up on things, so doesn't matter. I'd probably submit it as is if I needed to.

I can take a quick look. I'm going to be in critique/feedback mode this afternoon anyway. Email or share with geekseven99 at gmail.com.

I just submitted my story. Hope I did it right. ;-)

Thanks to Geekseven for the edits and suggestions, they were very helpful. I'm much happier with the story now. I'm even happier that I actually got off my ass and WROTE something.

I'm curious to read what everyone else has written.

I can try, but that's a very tight window.

Thanks for the offer. Means a lot! I had geekseven give it a look over, I made some needed changes and then submitted it.

Words... flowing (finally!)... Time running out... Going to be so unpolished :pinch:.

...But it still makes me happy :).

Gonna have so much to read tomorrow! :woohoo:

The Monster of Lust zooms by on his unmuffled hawg...

In passing, he hurls a crumpled ball of writing paper over the fence with just a few hours to spare...

He races away, cackling madly.

I made some more edits to my story. I posted the changes into the story editor ... but noticed that from when I posted the first time and now, some formatting had been applied to it. Mostly indenting paragraphs. I don't seem to know how to do that and that formatting has been wiped out. I hope I didn't mess something up!

Anyway, hopefully that was ok, it should be before the deadline. It wasn't much, but it made the story flow smoother, fixed a few typos that when I saw them bothered me... (etc).

Honestly I love hearing about the teamwork going on. I feel bad I didn't finish up sooner so I'd have more time to offer my services as a proofreader and sounding board.

Lesson learned.

Mine was horribly rushed at the end so I apologize in advance. I liked my concept but not entirely pleased with the execution, but hopefully others will enjoy.

It did get me off my arse though in terms of writing which was one of my goals this season.

Look forward to reading everyone's entries!
