I'd love to see a "girl power" version of this. I'd love even more to see a "girl power" film featuring Ashley Rose as Superior Girl showing off her powers! That woman is a goddess!

Anywho, yes I too would be overjoyed to see a more heavy emphasis on the girl power. I don't even care if there is no story. Just random scenes of a sexy supergirl doing super-powered stuff. Anything would be better than all the raunchy peril stuff that gets put out there.

The trick is to combine the raunchy stuff with the girl power stuff. Show pictures of the heroine flying, but be sure to catch an upskirt shot while she's flying (and/or when she lands or takes off). Also, when the heroine towers over the defeated villain, have another upskirt shot. I saw one idea in a comic where a superheroine's heat vision use led to the sprinklers being turned on and soaking her. But yes, more girl power by the superheroine also.

I don't mind a few boob shots or upskirts. That's all in good fun. It's just when 80% of the movie is some guy brutally pounding or raping her that I get turned off. It kind of worries me that there would be so much of a market for that kind of entertainment where people get aroused by the sight violence against a strong woman.

Have to agree totally, each to there own, but I totally hate the ones where the heroine gets totally killed at the end

Forget the misogynist "peril" stuff, I want to see girl power and the more the better!

I don't get the "peril" genre either.

I saw a forum discussion once that said "peril" guys believe that all of the "mainstream" media is "girl power" and nothing is geared toward "peril". Well, there may be a bit of truth to that but there still isn't very much "girl power" stuff "out there in the mainstream media".

What the discussion failed to mention, however, was the real world where girls are the weaker sex and not a day goes by without a story concerning a girl/woman being raped, abused, etc...

I don't know. I just find it a bit odd for a man to have a deep, dark desire to see a woman tied up, raped, and killed. I understand that there has to be some "challenge" for the superheroine in order to tell a good story, but most of the peril stuff goes over the line.

Hello there, I'm the director for Superior Girl

I had a few chats with Lfan about this movie and I wanted to stop by and give a few scene descriptions that may or may not interest you.

- Off the top of my head there are about 7 to 8 scenes with flight.
- Two Super Breath scenes including putting out a fire, and freezing a shadow monster before smashing him to pieces
- A quick scene snaping some chains
- She roughs up some truckers after discovering their true intent
- Heat vision scene where she blasts a Marine that is possessed by Selena
- And various displays of strength.

Now Im not going to sugar coat the peril because its definitely there.. The shadow monster tosses her into some buildings and picks her up trying to crush her. Later on she freezes and smashes him but takes some bumps in the process. The final fight with the Marine goes well in the start but he draws power from the omega hedron which becomes a bit much for Superior girl. She takes some punches, kicks and wrestling moves, however its nothing over the top, nothing sexual, and Superior Girl wins every fight... She also maintains her drive and determination to win through out each battle even when the odds are stacked against her. There is no peril in the first 25mins which mostly consists of Superior Girl figuring out earth, developing her relationship with her love interest, and searching for the omega hedron. The question is if that sort of content is even interesting or not.

I hope this info helps people make an educated decision on my superior girl movie and let me know if there are any questions.

After talking with Lfan I was considering making a separate copy with no peril however I think I would rather just make a Girl Power movie which is something I have discussed with Lfan a few times over the past couple years.

I think I have a pretty good grasp on what makes a good girl power movie however I am always open to suggestions and requests.

A lot of folks unfamiliar with our unique fandom (and that even includes people like you who make the stuff we enjoy) struggle with what we consider to be 'peril'. It sounds to me like you're not even close to crossing that line. Of COURSE the heroine has to face adversity, or else there's no drama. (Some amateur authors who create characters that are "1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times stronger than every creature on earth combined" also have a problem with this concept.) When we refer to 'peril' we're usually referring specifically to a subgenre that fetishizes the destruction and humiliation of the heroine. The Japanese costumed adventures are probably the best example of that. It sounds like you're making a fantasy adventure where the girl, while "super", still has to earn her victories. Most of us are not going to have a problem with that.

Had to grin at this. Explaining peril to Rye is a bit like quoting scripture to the Pope. I'm fairly certain he's familiar with it.

I hope the SWM crowd is willing to support a girl power effort from Rye. I suspect he would no doubt crank out some fun material if shown that there is a reason to continue doing so, and he has a knack for drumming up some excellent talent.

When this proposed girl power film hits, it represents another prime opportunity for the SWM/girlpower audience to significantly impact the superheroine clip market and the type of material made available.
