Silver Age Superman - My Fair Supergirl

Courtesy of Newspapers.com, I've found a Silver Age Superman strip storyline from 1957 where Superman gives a young debutante named Myrtle superpowers through a blood transfusion. One costume change later, she's an early version of Supergirl and Supes is training her, "My Fair Lady" style. Now, this story and the character are not perfect by any means, but this story features some stuff we thought was only wishful thinking for the time.

Can we find this strip in a Superman comics vol.1?

Wow. I knew of this story, but I'd only ever been able to find one strip on line.

IDW has been reprinting the Superman dailies from the 50's and 60's, but this story doesn't appear in either of the two volumes they've published so far.

Most of those stories are closely based on tales that had already appeared in the comic books, but this one seems to be original (though the idea of gaining super-powers via a blood transfusion was used in a few Silver Age comics).

That's the thing.. They have NOT reprinted these because the Silver Age Dailies started with '59. This is '57 so we most likely won't be seeing these officially for a very long time.

I'm not sure you'd want to see the rest of it, Ace. All she does is lose her powers due to Kryptonite, Supes saves the day by himself, and she and that socialite get married.

When she went to space to grab the meteor, I knew that was the end, but I would still like to see the whole thing. And what about the doctor and Clark's identity? Does he have a heart attack or get run over by a truck?

Nah, what happened is there was a sudden coincidental other case of another patient receiving enhanced strength from a radiation leak, so he didn't suspect Clark anymore.

It said see Action Comics #266, but nothing there...

I wonder if anyone has this strips downloaded and can repost them?

I checked, and the My Fair Supergirl storyline ran in newspapers from June 17 to October 12, a span of almost four months.  It would be pretty tedious to go through and scan all 120 or so strips, but if there's a lot of interest, it's something I could probably do in my free time.
