Prob slipped past most people's radar, but its up on comixology:

www.comixology.com/Reality-1/digital-comic/147855

Artwork isn't the best, but I think most here would like the underlying concept! :P

The artwork is definitely the weakest link. And she does seem to figure out her powers a bit too quickly for my liking, but it's definitely SWM material! Some nice FMG and flying sequences. Thanks for pointing it out!

No prob......yeah it definitely seemed rush, but I have a sneaking suspicion it was a one-shot which is why they did everything so quick. Even so, as you alluded to, some nice uber-feats. Just wish they were drawn tighter.....

I have no idea how the comic industry works. But they did say on their facebook they intend for this to be a series. Dont really know if that holds any water though.

I am curious where the money is coming from for its development. Several comic series have used KickStarter to help fund each issue or book. If this is self-funded with hopes to recover costs through sales, then Part 2 will solely depend on the profits of Part 1. Another series that I follow, Tomorrow Jones, started as a Kickstarter project and is now on its third issue.

Comics tend to work about three-4 months behind-someone writes the book one months it goes through some editing, then it takes about a month for the art to be done and the cover, then they fine tune and send it to printing before it reaches the shelves. The art is the hard part is one reason most books are about 22 pages-one page a day plus weekends.

Typically once this happens each step goes onward-the writer does the next issue, penciler starts drawing while the previous book is in printing so it works out monthly.

So if they want to keep doing a monthly series...they would have to start already. They could be doing oneshot it to see if theres intrest in more. That doesn't always work out but who knows.

Budget wise A comicbook for DC or Marvel costs about 10-20 thousand to produce, highly varaible in terms of printing and distirbution. Indies can cost less-its a lot based on what you pay the artists.

Personally the art doesn't look great to me, and that's less rushed then i think style-but well who knows.

The economics and the timing change a bit when you are dealing with just electronic versions of the comic. For one you don't have to sink costs into printing the book, and hoping you sell enough of them to recoup that printing cost. You still have to pay for the writer, the artist, the inker, the colorist and the editor. And make back what you spend on advertising.

And you have got to get onto some of the platforms: Comixology, Amazon, Drive Thru (etc). At some point it'll probably be as simple to get on Comixology as it is to get on Amazon. I see amazon bridging those worlds since they own Comixology now.

And the 'Time to the printer" is just making sure you wrap up your page images into the correct format for submission.

But you are probably still going to sink $10k/issue. But if you did, I'd hope you'd get better art than was delivered here. You can find better artists/inkers/colorists combined on DA, the problem is that they probably can't work speeds of 1 page/day.

Speed is something learned though. The more you do something, the better you get, and the faster you get. I know some artists faint at that deadline -- but it's possible to achieve.

That said I enjoyed Reality #1 -- the art is the weakest part of this. And probably the easiest to actually fix.

Great news, Tony! And thanks for stopping by! For those that want to know a little more about the book, here is a pretty good review featuring some sample art:

You can still purchase it on Comixology or on Amazon Digital.

I will also be in for more issues. I also agree that the art could be better, but the premise is good enough that I'd still like to see more.

Everyone wants to be a beast, until it's time to do what real beasts do.
