Had to share this.

I've been reading a lot about golden age heroes and superwomen in particular. Just read about Moon Girl, a short-lived Wonder Woman lookalike and came across this wonderful cover image.

Is she helping or destroying? Depending on your preference ..

Love It!

MoonGirl was an odd duck morphing from a superhero comic to a romance comic!

Ec really tried different stuff back in their time.

I saw that. The Golden Age was crazy, but so creative. We've gained and lost.

Venus is another fun one.

An ultra powerful alien from an other world, she can do practically anythig-fly lift tons of weight, change the world....

she runs a womans magazine, and spends most of her stories flirting with her assitant editor who doesn't belive a thing.

(fun fact: First book Stan Lee Ever worked on)

Venus was later retconned in the main Marvel Universe into being the actual Greek goddess.

Yeah. But this goes to something. Marvel comics in particular when ever they have gone back to there golden age stuff tends not to be very good as part of the pleasure of them is how weird they are, and how not consistent in tone they are. When they settled down its hard to go back to- most of the going back to the golden age stuff suffers as a result. Venus is funner as someone from the second planet who doesn't really understand earth but is sucseful none the less.

Check out Black Widdow- the weird 40s sucubbus character who would destroy murderers with the power of Satan. When they went back to her in the 90s she did a lot of marvel Angst.

Its one of the reasons i am not super excited by Bombshells-diffrent publisher...but....

Moon Girl #3: Rockets for Riches
Moon Girl #3: Sky Sabotage

Just a few more, from memory: Lady Luck, Tiger Girl, Phantom Lady, Sun Girl, Miss Marvel, Blonde Phantom, Rocket Girl, Leopard Girl, Mary Marvel, Phantomah, Wildfire, Ms./Miss Victory, Madame Strange, Yankee Girl, Lady Fairplay, Venus, Miss Fury, Silver Scorpion, Namora, Pat Patriot, Miss America, Tom Boy.

If you know where to look you can find most of their issues online. Back in the day there used to be a couple of Yahoo Groups (remember them?) where collectors scanned and shared GA superheroine stories.
