The Quote Game

The Quote Game was created by Rasa
Alright, the rules are simple. Guess the movie that a quote came from and then keep the game rolling with a new quote (or quotes) for others to guess.

I'll kick it off with a few quotes...

1. "If you hold back anything, I'll kill you. If you bend the truth or I think your bending the truth, I'll kill you. If you forget anything I'll kill you. In fact, you're gonna have to work very hard to stay alive. Now do you understand everything I've said? Because if you don't, I'll kill you."

2. "First person that comes out this fucking door gets a... gets a lead salad, you understand? "

3. "I ran out of gas. I had a flat tire. I didn't have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn't come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! It wasn't my fault, I swear to god!"

4. "The point is ladies and gentlemen that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of it's forms - greed for life, for money, knowledge - has marked the upward surge of mankind and greed - you mark my words - will not only save Teldar Paper but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you."

Wow. I guess mine were way too easy. Brantley's sure weren't. I only knew Vinny and Raising Arizona.

As for the elusive #1, the first two quotes didn't ring a bell, but the last finally did. I can't remember the name of it, but I think it's a western with Henry Fonda and Charles Bronson. It's an older movie from the 1960s or 1970s. Henry Fonda that suspenders line (or at least something really similar).

Then again, I might be thinking of something totally different because I can't remember the other lines being in the movie.

Aha! Did some searching and found the title of the movie of which I was thinking. Once Upon a Time in the West Still don't know if it's right, though.

OK, here's one:

"In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michaelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did they produce? The cuckoo clock."

That's easy: Orson Welles in THE THIRD MAN. He's said to have ad-libbed it, and he even gets credit for it in Bartlett's.

I think it's from Bridges of Madison County. Yes, I've actually watched Bridges of Madison County.

Here are a couple of quotes from a terrific movie...

"You're dumber than you think I think you are."

"I'm respectable. I'm old. Politicians, public buildings, and whores all get respectable if they last long enough."

The way I heard it on the AMC late night movie was the one that I posted. Never heard it the way you posted but it is Darkman.
