Life is Strange

Should have done this a week or two ago, but wanted to shout out a new Video Game series Life is Strange, Published by Squar Enix and devoloped by the french company Dontdo.

The game is an episodic Adventure game set for five chapters-the first one just got released and the company has promised one about every month, similar to the stuff from Telltale. The game tells the story of Max a high school girl with a photography scholarship at a private school-who discovers she has the power to control the passage of time-she can reverse time to do things agian live life agian, prevent murder, or get ot class.

Its a neat mechanic and version of the game as you can rewind mistakes to try agian ,and learn from whats going to happen to change the past. It plays a lot with the idea of time. For an adventure game it feels intresitng, and is good version of a superheroism in game. (the first chapter hints though it doesn't outwardly state her powers may change as the game goes forward). It plays a bit with the idea of power and what you do with it, and being at an agre where you have a lot of potential but are kind of affraid to do anything with it.

The first chapter goes more for mood and texture then really high adventure after the first hour-its a very pretty game-its got a kind of panterly look-and if the pacific northwest kind of feel has been done in games its well done. The first episode isn't very long-but its also five dollars, so if your intrested i do think this is going places like one might say of a comic.

Dontdod did the character action game Remember Me a couple of years ago, about a female mercenary in a future where memory is curency-that was a lot of clever story ideas hampered by route gameplay. here focusing more on story and mood more then challenge it feels a lot fresher-the game has been compared to Heavy Rain -but it does a good job of making max feel at times as if she has more agency in her adventure without the saw plotline.

its 5 bucks an episode 20 for the five episode season, and is availble on PC Xbox and Playstation.

Wanted to give this series a signal boost.

Its is on its 3 of 5 chapter of the game, and its going in some interesting directions.

Its about Max A photography Student on the coast of Oregon coming to grips with her strange powers to control the flow of time, and to time travel. This is an adventure game series thats light on action but full of a kind of intresting mood with bueatiful graphics, design and a kind of times of a great sence of building tension

. And if the powers aren't the traditional uberset,, its an interesting take on the concepts of superheroics particularly in the last chapter which explores a lot of what is the true responsibilty of people with power, in not entirely cookie cutter ways. Its a great coming of age story one of the best in any media i have seen in years.
