IRC chat room was created by fats
hi all,
As a test of a future project idea i've created a irc chat room, it's not something that is accessable from the site at the moment (i'm working on a hack to enable it) but it's something to see it's a useful idea or not.
I must stress it's not a replacement for the chat room on the site it's new thing to test the viability of a idea that i have.
you will need a IRC chat client to access the chat room, mIRC is a excellent client for windows pidgin is also a good client and it's cross platform so it will work with most systems.
the server is adams.freenode.net and the room is #superwomenmania there is no password for the room.
I'll will be on the chat room for as much as possible, please if possible use the same username here in i'll know who's there.
if people need or want more info please replay to this topic and i'll help out as much as possible.

Could someone give me a step by step pointer on how to get in?
I installed mIRC and not sure what to do next.

Right, here's what you do (I think)
You install mIRC, then you select Connect. you put the nickname you want to use in the top part and then, I believe, the adams.freenode.net server name in the server part. After you get logged in, you'll be given the option of going into a room. That's where you put in #superwomenmania.
I believe that's how it is. Again, I found it by fluke accident.

If you google mibbit, that might also be an easier option

The chat's become a bit lonely lately. If anybody is interested, it's really easy to sign on using anterion's link for the webchat.

I would love to access the chatroom via pidgin- I have already found the server but I cannot find the #superwomenmania channel(with the search function of pidgin).

update: already found it- it seems that not every chatroom gets listed instantly when you press the list button inside pidgin, I tried a few times, and found it finally.

A little hint to everyone who looks for the channel: There's always someone idling there, so empty channels means that you've most likely mistyped.

On the off chance that this might work, I just want to mention that the chat room still exists and that it would be nice if a few more people would visit it from time to time.
