does the unavailability of content justify illegal downloads?
I am in the currently unenviable position of being Australian. Despite the lesson they supposedly learned from vast numbers of Game Of Thrones downloads, Fox is delaying the release of Supergirl here by over a month. So, even though I have money and the desire to give it to them, I can't legally watch the show unless I lie about where I live. This Rob's me completely of any desire to give Rupert and co any money at all, tbh. So... If the content is unavailable due to executive decisions and reality no other reason, is it wrong to seek the content where it is available?
I'm wrestling with the idea right now of downloading the torrent, and then buying the DVD when its released. This way I can see the show with the rest of the world, and give my money to the production company as well, and not be made miserable by all the threads discussing a show I desperately want to see.
What do you guys think? What would you do here? Get a vpn and lie, illegally download, or patiently sit with your head in the sand until you can give Mr Murdoch some money for a show he didn't release on time?

even if it was forever, in a free society grey market stuff is legal everywhere so you can watch stuff once it gets to DVD..

No sense giving money to the intermediary who is delaying broadcasting in your area.

I'd still tune in for the tv broadcast though since tv ratings are what will determine if the show will see more than one season.

Fate conspires against me. I just moved to a new place, and it'll be around month before I get the optical fibre installed anyway. Lol, I think I might just wait for the Blu.Ray and watch the show then. I won't be able to take part in the discussions, and share in the week to week fun of picking on or praising the show...but it will give me something to look forward to. Watching it on Fox a month behind the rest of my friends just doesn't appeal, and at $50 a month it's not worth it anyway for just one show... Even Supergirl. I can binge on the dvds rather than have to wait a week between eps.
I know I should watch the live broadcast, but its on payTV and I fear it will rate poorly in Australia because of that whether I subcribe to see it or not. So if you don't see me for a while, it's because I have my head in a bucket pretending Supergirl hasn't been aired yet.

Don't Blu_Ray/DVD sets come out about six months after the END of a season of shows? You're probably talking May or June next year before you see it.

That's true... But Foxtel is the most expensive subscription service, and seeing as I'll be missing the boat anyway it doesn't bug me waiting six months. In years gone by, I have had to wait much longer than that.
Anyway, as my edited and more honest post points out, until I get the optical fibre hooked up I physically can't download anything that size. I'll be okay... It's not the first time I had to wait for stuff like this.

Also, the Pilot episode is free to download. The other two videos require that you buy the entire season in advance.
