Okay, so anyone who's thinking about entering this workshop should read -- or should have read -- "Transformatrix 4000" (on the Interactive Story forum) and my "Three Months Later" chapter (in the StoryBank).

I re-read the entire story a couple of weeks ago. It holds up pretty well, considering how many different writers had a hand in it. I caught a few inconsistencies, but by and large it adds up to a satisfying yarn with a strong cast of characters set in a "universe" full of intriguing possibilities -- which I hope this workshop will draw out.

For the benefit of those who haven't read "T4000" and want to know what they'd be getting into, here's a recap:

What is the Transformatrix 4000? Its origin, and the purpose behind it, are still unknown. It's not much to look at -- it resembles an ordinary flashlight -- but it can endow any woman with all the basic super-powers: super-strength, super-speed, invulnerability, enhanced senses, flight. (A few "transformees" have manifested additional abilities.)

Three months ago, this device became available to members of a website called UberGirlFrenzy -- giving each recipient the power to transform any woman he chose into a super-woman ... girlfriend or wife, classmate or co-worker, the pretty librarian or the sexy waitress. Some traveled out of town to use their T4000 on their favorite female celebrity -- Paris Hilton, Jessica Alba, and Jennie Finch, among others.

Within days, women all over the U.S. (and presumably elsewhere) began manifesting super-powers. At first, the National Intelligence Bureau tried to keep their existence secret, sequestering them in a facility in the Nevada desert, but there were too many, emerging too quickly, and they were too powerful. A quartet of superwomen -- reporter Lois Lane, model DeeAnn Donovan, wife and mother Denise Jordan, and the original Supergir, Kara Zor-El -- banded together to bring down the facility and liberate the sixty or so women who had been brought there.

Now, three months later, there are more than 500 known transformees, and perhaps several hundred more who choose, for whatever reason, not to reveal their powers to the general public, and their number continues to grow. People are still adjusting, in ways large and small, to the presence of these super-women in their midst.

Okay, people -- the deadline for this workshop is four weeks away.

Besides "bragging rights" and the privilege of choosing the next workshop theme, the winner of this workshop will receive an additional prize ...

a specially-commissioned illustration (by TGK) of a scene from your story!

The winner will receive the original illustration, and a scan will go into the Image Bank.

Several of TGK's drawings -- including his rendition of Jill Henderson -- are on display in the SGInc gallery. He has a definite affinity for our genre!

Write on ...

Cool idea, Argo. It's not enough to convince me to participate, but I do hope it'll help get more people to join.

I'm just more comfortable writing in my own original world than jumping into other people's sandboxes. This one's generic enough that I could probably come up with something if I tried, but I've been working on another story for a while that I want to finish. So I'd rather continue working on that for now. Eventually, I will submit my entry for workshops 1.8 and 1.9. :)

What follows is a tribute to the longest list of excuses, plausible alibis, and repetitive doublespeak, EVER to sum up to exactly zero. Again, this is only a TRIBUTE...

<7400 pages of content deleted>

I'm two pages in. If I get to 10 I'll toss my cat in the ring.
er...hat. Whatever.

Don't holdjer breath, it's two of my most boring pages to date. Be better if I just burn them and put you outta my misery.

Wuv,
-Paw.

's okay, YAGS. Write when the opportunity presents itself and as the spirit moves you -- like all of us. I for one look forward to reading whatever you come up with, whenever you come up with it.

And WhitePaw -- welcome to the sandbox!

The world is a very big place. My corner is just secluded, not new.

Had some fun writing and drawing today for the first time in a long time. I'm enjoying the month off from constant school homework. C'ya. :D

I am a horrible person: real life has been kicking my butt and I haven't written anything, let alone anything decent, in two months. Hopefully a superbabe will come and rescue me soon :) .

1/2 done and no way of making the deadline. I don't want to ask for more time as I think it is unlikely that even with another week I could get it done. Work and other issuse have made this last 6 weeks a living hell
and it will be 8 more weeks before any chance of relief. If and when I finish it, I will post it.

I'm a little late, even though I have a few stories to add. I'm going to submit mine directly to the thread already going with stories, since they won't be individual stories - just add ons to the stories already going.

I can't wait to see what everyone submits.
