So I'm having this idea both as a way to beat my chronic writers block and what I thought could be an interesting idea

Plus i'm a sucker for punishment

Here's the idea. Two writers (one probably me) have a shortish word (no more than 1500 words) limit with the same scenario. Both write their own stories then they collate them one after the other in the one story uploaded to the site with a poll as to who's was the better.

Kind of like a smaller version of a workshop with a tad more immediate results and a smaller timeframe. 

And given the cailbre or writers on this forum i'm probably going to lose...... a lot. And i'm absolutely cool with that.

Would this interest anyone 1) writing it and 2) reading the differing takes taken by the writers

Fair warning...the last time I did an "collaborative exercise" like this, it turned into a 50K word novel which is still being worked on.

I guess what I'm saying is....yes, do it!!!  :P

Woody, Woodclaw has to do some special behind-the-scenes magic to make the polls happen in stories, so we'll need to include him on it when we're ready to submit.

My story is done, using the prompt that you sent me. Just let me know how you want this to work. I messaged you on discord yesterday as well. :)

Our first challenge is up this week. Hikerangel and I have both put up a story on the topic

A superheroine on tiktok.

Massive thanks to Hiker, Woodclaw and Lfan for helping this come together and is a great comparison how two writers handle the same scenario and how different the result is

Happy voting.  I do want to continue this in the coming weeks. I just need to get over a double ear infection before i can focus again

Thanks to everyone who been reading Hikerangels and my duel on a superheroine on TIKTOK this week for the first dual story challenge. Thanks also to the Mods for hooking up the poll. It's been my most successful story for 1 week readers and I hope that you all enjoyed both stories. 

Thanks to all who voted on the stories. We're running the poll till Sunday so there is still time to vote. 

It's been fun and I'll announce who took it out on sunday

any of the above, all of the above. Like I said in the first post the idea was for me to get out of writers block (which actually helped, I'm now working on a one shot with Manta as an origin story, then I might have enough ideas for Hyperwoman chapter 5)

I'm happy to take on someone else. I'm also happy if Hiker wants to take on someone of her choosing. I'm happy if two other writers want to have a crack at each other. I"m happy if all these happen in the same timeframe and released in the one week

We have the parameters now - single topic, 1500 words. the readers decide the winner.

We're we go from here, the sky is really the limit

I'm also excited to see what Woodclaw had planned for the next one

So without further ado. The winner of this duel is

Well no surprises really. It's Hikerangel.

What surprised me is how close I came. The final percentage was 57-43 in Hikers favour.

Hikerangel: Congratulations. To the winner go the accolades (because gosh knows I can't afford anything at the moment and given Australians are panic buying idiots I can't go to the shops and get anything) It was a great take on the the topic and well deserved
