To give an example, what would a Kryptonian’s life be like if she landed near and was raised in an Amish commune?  What about a superwoman who grew up as an “army brat,” or was raised by scientists?  Or criminals, possibly even something like a mob family?  Or hippies, or by politicians (or royalty, depending on the country)?  Circus performers, even?  What if, in the scientist example above, they made her instead of finding her?  I feel like there could be some interesting story possibilities here.

You could replace the location of the Amish community with, say, crash landing in North Korea, her craft intercepted by a rogue missile from a suspicious, paranoid and intolerant state.
Would she accept life there as being as society on a global scale in her new world? More than likely she would execute one hell of a single, self-styled revolution!

The Elseworld story JLA the Nail actually explored the idea of Superman being raised in an amish commune.

Thanks!  The Amish idea stood out as a fun one - so I'll have to go find this story somewhere.  Superheroine going through Amish rumspringa - interesting times/stories.

There's been a small handful in comics and tv. Miss Liberty, of course, who starred in Tomahawk comics from #81. And there was Jenny Flint in Doctor Who, who wasn't a superheroine as such, but deserves an honorable mention as she shirt-ripped out of her Victorian outfit into a catsuit when it was time for a fight.

I always thought late-era Victorian London was ripe for this type of treatment. Thick smog and Jack the Ripper, etc. You have these wealthy genteel women in their finery, pretending to be far too delicate to hurt a fly -- but when the screams of the Ripper's next victim can be heard off in the distance, who's to say one of those delicate women isn't hiding a skintight heroine outfit underneath her bulky Victorian dress? (Hell, you could probably fit an entire portable crime lab under there!) :)
