Superwoman in The Arctic Giant was created by Dr. Muttonchops
Okay everybody, this is based on a request by Argonaut, that i actually
re-do a Fleischer Superman cartoon with Superwoman in it.Please bear
with me and be kind!

"Up in the sky,look!" "It's a bird!" "It's a plane!" "It's Superwoman!"

Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall
buildings in a single bound! This amazing stranger from the planet Krypton! The Woman
of Steel,Superwoman! Posessing remarkable physical strength,Superwoman fights a never
ending battle for truth and justice! Disguised as a mild mannered newspaper reporter,
Clara Kent!

Penetrating deep into the frozen wastes of the great Arctic plains,an archaelogical
expedition searching for Prehistoric fossils makes an amazing discovery! A huge
monster,as lifelike in appearance as it was when it roamed the Earth millions
of years ago in the Mesozoic age is found frozen in the ice,in a state of
perfect preservation! Constantly handicapped by the hazardous sub-zero elements,
the scientists and their band of tireless workers succeed in removing the mammoth
creature from the frozen pit. The ice-enclosed monster is loaded into the hold of
a huge freighter, equipped with a special regrigeration plan, and brought to this
country. Here,in a specially constructed wing of the Museum of Natural Science,
this awe-inspiring creature is diplayed to the public for the first time.

The beast stood upright in it's refrigerated slumber, it's eyes closed,it's mouth
slightly agape revealing several sharp, yellow fangs. It's green, powerful looking
body was completely visible through the block of ice that encased it. It must
have stood over twenty stories tall! A gleaming plaque beneath the creature read
"Tyrannosaurus Habitat Siberia,Discovered December,1940. Age about 3,400 B.C.
Donated by Alfred R. Ley." The crowds loved it,coming to see it over and over again
in droves, people from all around the country, and from other countries as well!
Security guard Francis LeStrade loved the exhibit as well, and was thrilled whenever
he was instructed to watch over the giant frozen attraction.Though the creature
itself scared him to death. "Not too close, folks!" he would tease the crowds,
"We don't know when this big fella's eyes'll open up!" Then he would go back to his
office and nurse his flask of liquid courage, while silently denying his fear of the
creature's awakening.

At the building housing the offices of the Daily Planet,Metropolis' top newspaper
Chief Editor Perry White was in his office,on the phone with Palientologist Professor
Byron Quigley. "Then you mean to say that if the ice were permitted to thaw,There's a
possibility the monster might still be alive? Thank you, professor!" After hanging up,
White flicked the switch on his intercom for Louis Lane's office. "Yes,Chief." the
obediant voice responded through White's machine. "Louis, there's a new angle on that
frozen monster story. Get over to the museum and see what's doing. They've got him
in a special refrigerator." White commanded. "Okay, chief." Louis' voice responded.
Louis, dressed in a blue coat and slacks, put on his gray fedora and stepped out of
his office, only to be spotted by his co-worker and rival,Clara Kent, dressed in her
candy pink jacket and skirt with her black hair done up in a bun and her round
glasses, who was working at her desk. "Oh,Louis. Want me to go over there with you?"
Clara cheerfully asked. "No thanks, you'd probably faint if you saw the monster. You
scare so easily." Louis replied condesendingly. As he left,Clara leaned back in her
chair and chuckled to herself "Maybe he's right, but Superwoman hasn't fainted yet!"

At the museum,an engineer was showing Louis the motor which powered the machine
that kept the monster cool "..and produces the necessary refrigeration." he
continued. The control board is downstairs. I'll show it to you." the engineer
said as Louis took his words down on his notepad. As the two left however, the
engineer absentmindedly left his oil can on a board right beside the motor.
"The entire plant is operated from this board." The engineer said as he and
Louis descended a flight of metal stairs. The engineer pointed to the boards
various switches and dials, saying "The thermometer must be watched constantly,
as any rise in temperature might prove dangerous!" Suddenly, the nonchalantly
placed can shuddered off the board, and dropped into the motor' rapidly whirling
axis! The motor began to groan and spark, showing the signs of damge it had
suffered. The engineer and Louis turned in horror to see the motor go out of
control! The engineer raced up the steps as the foreman shouted "Cut those
switches!" The switches were thrown and the machine ground to a halt. As the
egineers began frantically initiating repairs,Louis exclaimed gleefully "Boy,
what a story!" As the engineers worked as quickly as they could, the temperature
on the thermometer began to climb. Louis began writing the events feverishly on
his notepad, when all of a sudden,a drop of water hitting the pad interrupted him.
Louis looked up astonished to see the ice covered cabled attched to the creature's
ice tomb beginning to melt! Suddenly, the thermometer reached the "DANGER" level,
sounding an alarm in the process! The workers heard this, and attempted to repair
the damage even quicker. The ice was breaking off in chunks now as LeStrade and
one of his fellow guards attempted to get the patrons out as quickly and safely
as possible "Outside, everybody. Step lively, please. Use the nearest exit." they
calmly commanded. LeStrade and his associate looked up at the creature as the ice
slowly melted off of it. Louis peeked out of the control room as LeStrade instructed
"Please, keep moving. We have to clear this room at once!" "That's what he thinks!"
Louis said slyly as he jogged behind a phone booth to avoid detection. the ice had
almost completely melted off the massive reptillian beast,as LeStrade rushed inside
the booth and spun the rotary dial in a panic. "Police headquters." He told the
operater. The creature's exposed fingers began to slowly flex! "Hello, chief.
send the riot squad! We're in trouble!" Lestrade explained in a frightened tone
of voice, before exiting. The monster's jaw began to close as Louis entered the
booth and hurriedly dialed. Sudddenly, the creature's light green, bloodshot eyes
opened! The monster's legs broke free of the remaining ice and it's head tore
through the scaffolding machine above him! Louis spoke quicklyinto the reciever
"Hello, planet? Get me the city desk, hurry!" Louis heard a sound and looked up too
late to see the creature smash though a column, which landed on the booth he was in.
A single, quick gasp escaped his lips before being knocked to the ground.

The monster burst through the glass ciling and the concrete walls of the museum.
Suddenly, the riot squad showed up and began pelting the creature with machine gun
fire, but the bullets only bounced off the monster's rough, scaled skin! As the
police futily fired round after round at the beast, the creature got closer and
closer, until he stepped on the squad cars and crushed them like metal panckes!
The monster headed through the city, smashing a elevated train track with one step,
and wiping the facades off of buildings with two swishes of his tail! A man ran
across the street to alert a woman carrying several parcels in her hands
"Look out,it's alive!" he shouted before running off,the woman dropped her parcels
and screamed before fleeing herself. In the panic, two cars collided. An elderly
cop on his beat phoned in "No I'm not crazy, rush some men down here!" A dispatching
officer called over his microphone "Attention, all cars, proceed to Fifth and Main at
once!"

At Perry White's office at the Planet White was with Clara looking over a ticker
that read "Arctic Monster Runs Amuck In City..." Clara grabbed Perry by the arm
in desperation saying "Chief,Louis is in the museum!" "Better get over there,Kent."
White responded "Right." Clara said. Once outside Perry's office,Clara removed her
jacket saying confidently "This looks like a job for Superwoman!" before entering
the supply closet, where she stripped off the remainder of her clothing, removing her
glasses and undoing the bun behind her head before stepping out of the closet
revealed as Superwoman! Outside the Planet building several bystanders were
suprised to see a blue and red streak zoom out from the doors and into the sky!
Superwoman lept from rooftop to rooftop, before arriving at the museum. Superwoman
moved aside the giant thousand pound peices of the building away from the doors
with no effort at all. Once inside,Superwoman called out "Louis!" "Superwoman!"
Louis called out from underneath the rubble in a relieved voice. Superwoman moved
a steel girder out of the way and picked her partner up and leapt outside the
building before setting Louis down. "You'd better get back to your office where
you'll be safe. I've got some work to do." she instructed. "Yes Ma'am" Louis
responded politely as Superwoman flew off before saying "And miss the best story
in years? Swell chance!" with a devilish smile, before following her.

The monster smashed through a dam by the time Superwoman caught up with him,
which began to flood a nearby town! Superwoman merely pushed the edge of a cliff
which blocked the flood and stopped it! As the beast approached a bridge, two boats
attempted to oppose it,one full of policemen firing machine guns, the other filled
with firemen firing water cannons at it,neither had any effect! The monster merely
waded past them, which capsized both boats. The creature then walked through the
bridge, which snapped it in two! Seeing this,Superwoman swooped out of the sky
and grabbed the bridge before any of the cars could slide into the ocean and lept
up,tying the support cables to the bridge to repair it,only to see the monster
headed for a crowded stadium! As the monster got closer,a taxi lets Louis off
at the press gate, and the reporter ran inside. As the monster got too close to
the stadium for comfort,Superwoman took a support cable and twirled it above her
head, and let go which wrapped the cable around the creature's feet, tripping it,
and making it fall. Louis happened to appear on the balcony right next to the
monster's head, armed with his camera. He took a picture, the flash attracted the
creature's attention. As Louis was changing bulbs, the creature scooped him up
in his mouth. Louis' scream reached Superwoman's ears. "Louis!" Superwoman
said, not too suprised that the plucky reporter had not followed her advice.
Superwoman flew into the monster's powerful jaws just as they closed. But
Superwoman was even more powerful, and she forced the creature's mouth open!
Superwoman then placed Louis back on the stadium's balcony saying "Now this
time, stay put." "Yes,milady. And thanks!" Louis said appreciatively. Superwoman
lunged at the beast,as Louis gasped. Superwoman scored a flying takedown of
the creature's head by the neck, and tied the creature's neck down by bending
a lampost around it's throat.

The headline of the Planet the next day read "Superwoman Subdues Arctic Monster"
"Monster Displayed To Public In Park Zoo!" and featured a picture of the bitter
looking beast chained to a fenced in pit in the ground. The byline read "By Louis
Lane. In Clara's office,Clara was looking the front page over while saying to
her partner who was combing his hair "You showed plenty of courage getting that
monster story,Louis." "Thanks, but where were you?" Louis asked nonchalantly.
"Me? Oh,I must have fainted." Clara said sarcastiacally, she then turns to us,
smirks heriocally,and winks!

Ha! Thanks, Dr. M!

Like I said, I've always enjoyed those old cartoons, simplistic as the plots were, and it's fun to imagine what they might have been like if one of "us" had been in charge of making them.

> sigh < Now if only someone would remake the actual cartoon ...

For those interested, here's a link to the original:

I'd never seen that cartoon before. That's certainly a good "remake". I do hope there's more to come.
