Superwoman in Terror on the Midway was created by Dr. Muttonchops
"Up in the sky,look!" "It's a bird!" "It's a plane!" "It's Superwoman!"

Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to soar higher
than any plane! This amazing stranger from the planet Krypton,The Woman of Steel:
Superwoman! Posessing remarkable physical strength,Superwoman fights a never ending
battle for truth and justice! Disguised as a mild mannered reporter,Clara Kent!

"Peanuts! Popcorn! Get your hot roasted peanuts here!" A vendor cried out with almost
religious fervor. But that could be expected at a circus, where the noise sometimes far
outstrips the entertainment. Past the Indian firebreather and a shooting gallery the
people clamored at all the amazing attractions as a barker peddled his human and
animal market "All right, folks, only a dime. One tenth of a dollar. You're just about
to witness the most amazing, splendifforous act the world has ever seen!" he said in
his smoke-addled voice. Just beside a poster of a massive gorrila named "Gigantic"
which had the monster throwing savages around, a small monkey was scared off by a
flasbulb from the camera of reporter Louis Lane, who was with his fellow reporter,
Clara Kent. "Sorry, old fellow." Louis halfheartedly apologized to the little critter.
"Fine thing. Ace newspaper man scares monkey." Clara teased. "Mmm. Ace newspaper man
reviews circus. What an assignment." Louis flatly replied as he changed the bulb, and
aimed his camera. "Yeah,too bad,Louis. Looks like a great night for a murder,or fire,or
something." Clara jabbed again. The moment was interrupted by some trumpets playing a
fanfare. "Hurry, hurry, hurry! Step right up.." A barker said, beginning his pitch. "That's
your cue,Louis. See you later at the office." Clara said, before walking off. As Louis
headed for the tent, he passed the large gorilla in his cage, but did not notice him,as
the barker continued his frivolous shouting. "Only a few minutes before the performance
begins. So hurry,hurry,hurry!"

Inside the tent, the crowd showed their enthusiasm for the act that was taking place.A
performer in a strange duck suit, with a board bill that smacked together, and a feather
duster for a tail, clapped his hands together as he walked. The little monkey following
him, imitated his movements, only to be scared off by another one of Louis' camera flashes.
A clown beating a large drum, followed by an elephant, entered the tent. A circus worker
attempted to grab the monkey, but his efforts were in vain. The small simian crawled onto
a cage and grabbed the pull ring used to open it. While playing with it, putting it
around his arm,the cage's occupant, the giant gorilla, appeared and growled, frightening
the monkey off. But as he fled, the pull ring still on his arm, the cage opened! In the
center ring,a clown was leading a line of large elephants in a conga dance. The monkey
raced into the tent and ran up to the children's area, where a pack of youngsters were
laughing at what they thought to be a dance, but was actually an act of desperation. A
loud, gutteral growl froze the kids with fear. everyone turned and looked at the curtain,
which was ripped open, revealing the terrifying gorilla,Gigantic! The massive creature
bared his fangs and snarled, and the whole population of the tent, including Louis began to
run in fear. The handlers did their best to wrangle the beast with ropes and poles, but
this proved futile, and the gorilla just sent them flying! He then picked up a cart and
threw it into the stands, snapping them like matches, which spooked the elephants!

Outside the Daily Planet building,Clara had just gotten to the front door, when she heard
police sirens wailing away. She saw two patrol cars pass her,so she ducked back into the
cab that had taken her to work and said to the driver "Get going Joe. Let's see what's
cooking." Joe started his meter, started the engine and sped off after the police.

Back at the circus, people were pouring out of the tent in droves. Louis photograped the
people as they ran. Gigantic focused on a little girl from the Kiddie Corner getting out
from under several planks of wood and running away,so he pushed aside a cart and began to
follow her. When Louis turned and saw this,he dropped his camera in horror. Louis stayed
on the sidelines as he outraced the monstrous gorilla to where the girl was trying to get
up into the stands to escape. Louis took the girl in his arms and lifted her up to the
seating area, where the girl ran to the nearest exit. But now the creature had spotted
Louis, and followed him as he tried to get away!

The police, armed with Tommy Guns, exited their squad cars with efficiency. Clara exited
the taxi at the same time. She made her way through the crowd shouting Louis' name, but
recieved no response. She then saw an officer struggling to steady a spooked elephant,
and assisted him. The massive pachyderm backed up into the Lion's cage, and splintered
the wood on the side freeing them! Clara was knocked back into a crate, she adjusted her
glasses, she ducked to avoid an officer firing at a lioness. As Clara pushed back some
pieces of wood that fell on her,she said assertively "This IS a job for Superwoman!"
Clara ducked behind a large umbrella, and looked around to make sure no one was watching
as she took off her glasses, let down her hair, and began to disrobe. But someone was
watching,a hungry panther pounced on Superwoman just as she finished transforming!
After briefly wrestling with the predator,Superwoman pinned the creature's front legs
behind it's head and put it back in it's cage. Meanwhile, back in the tent,as Louis
climbed to the top of the tightrope platform,Gigantic was right behind him! Back outside,
on top of a cage,a father and daughter cowered from a pair of lions that were attempting
to jump up to them and chew them to bits, but Superwoman swooped down and pinned the
beasts to the floor, tying their jaws shut with some nearby rope. Then she saw a
stampeding elephant charging toward a young boy,she got in front of it,and used her
amazing strength to flip the animal over into a cage! As a roaring lion into the tent,
Superwoman attempted to follow it,only to hear Louis' scream! Superwoman saw the gorilla
on the ladder approaching Louis on the platform, she soared up and attempted to get the
now unconcious ,Louis to safety, but the gorilla grabbed Superwoman's leg,so she began
battling the beast as the ladder tipped backwards, sending the two combatents to the
floor. A snapped off sparking electical cable hit the straw covered floor, starting a
fire! As the flames began spreading to the platform,Superwoman battled the massive beast.
Gigantic picked Superwoman over his head and threw her into the flames that surrounded
the platform, which had no effect on her,and she dove right back at the creature! The fire
had now eaten away at the pillar that supported the platform and it began to tip
sideways! Gigantic swung at and missed Superwoman with one of his large fists, then The
Woman Of Steel adopted a look of fury on her face and gave the gorilla a mighty punch to
the jaw, which knocked the beast down! Superwoman then picked the giant creature up and
threw him onto the tightrope walker's safety net. She unhooked the net and tied Gigantic
up in it,he let out a growl as she lept upwards and grabbed Louis just as the platform
gave way! She flew down and put a still dizzy Louis back on his feet,Superwoman then ran
back into the tent, took her cape off,and put the fire out with it!

Later, back at the Planet,Louis was typing out the circus episode as Clara picked up his
camera saying "Lucky Louis, always gets his story." "And luckily he lives to
write it." Louis cheerfully replied. "Thanks to Superwoman?" Clara playfully asks as she
aims the camera at Louis, and snaps his picture.

Nice! I watched this one as a kid ~ I'm sure the VHS is around somewhere. I never really liked the art in the shows all that much though the stories were classic superhero stuff.

I recall how when the panther attacks him you only see the “shadows” fighting.

Certainly more fun with a hero ~ very nice adaptation and descriptors ~ brings back memories.

I liked the one with the electrical line where Superman took the amperage from a high power line to keep some tram going to save some people from a volcano I think. I did a photo manip with a supergirl YEARS ago that was inspired by that one. I always thought that was cool to be able to take a charge and “bridge” it.

Not my favourite one so far, but it's always fun to see a giant gorilla, especially fighting against a superwoman.
