Doing alternate endings or finishing unfinished stories

Hey everyone.

I have been reading a lot of entries in this website but it seems a lot of them haven't been finished and others are awesome and maybe the ending isn't what I expected.

How open is the site/authors of others doing a different take on their work and taking it cool if they were finished differently by someone else?

As an author I wouldn't mind if others liked so much my work that would spend some time spinning it in a different way.

Let me know what you think, I would actually do a couple myself.

Welcome and thanks for the generous offer. Unfortunately this is a pretty complex issue: the general rule on SWM is that every author has full control over his/hers stories and those who wish to go and continue them should get permission first.
Given that, it's true that many writers just disappeared at some point and their stories are just there waiting. If you, or anyone else, wish to write a continuation contacting the original author, or the SWM staff, should always be the first step.
