Batgirl Rises

Good:

*this is a gorgious movie. have seen studio movies that don't look as good, superhero movies-it all looks great-from the costumes the sets, the lghting-its an amazing visual peice. And yes when we see Batgirls costume at the ned it looks great.

*This is one of the best sound designed movies i have ever seen-certainly the best i have ever heard on youtube. For Duo i am defiently going to think about hiring the guy who did that. It cinematic, haunting and well done.

* The Actress playing Harley Quinn does an excelent job. I am not sures its comics light hearted pyscho, but it does work-and shes a very striking look that really works for it through out. You can see her devolop and change, and kind of not just be the villian-which really works.

* Similarly, this maybe the best Riddler i have seen in live action. Its a scene, but its a great scene, just an errie dark menace.

*one of the things about the Supergirl movie was i thought it was maybe the best ubergirl Fight Scene i had seen-and even after Supergirl et all thats still kinda the case. This is obviously diffrent but the one real fight scene we get does work.

However The Bad.


*The movie depends on a lot of pathos on Her Brother-and while i have seen praise for it, its not really a great performance. And The fact that its a 2 parts combined into one, means the twist is reveled a lot earlier then it probabbly should.

* The script is simultaneously long and glosses over. I am going to guess they cut out 10 minutes at the end for budget or something to wrap up the climax-cause it leaves dangling thread like a mofo. Its really unsatisfying.. and there is no real action climax to it. it setup as a battle...but no battle.

*Batgirl isn't a terrible performance, but it does lean a little heavy on making her the damsel in peril. Shes gets beatup a lot, and scared...and while unlike say batgirl spoils which was just bad, i can forgive it for that...its unsatisfying. I think it really wants to be the story of her rising up, getting to do something...but it just doesn't quite work out that way. yeah with the lack of climax....its yeah.

*and this is something that strike me. Batgirl is one of my favorite characters becuse of her motivation-she doesn't really have a mission to save her brother or revenge. Her inspiration is just the momment of discovery that she can do this-that she does have amazing abilities, that she can use her bodys atheletism and her brain to do something amazing-do good yes, but just the joy that she can. And i like that its ultimeatly not supernatural. shes not a ubergirl. Shes just the best of human can be, and she discovers that in herself.

And that is a compelling thing-but its not here. Not at all. I keep wanting to like batgirl in fan films...but yeah. it just seems to victim oriented. You need joy.

ultiematly i would give it 5/10. i want to like it more....but no.
