Questionaire Diskussion

I wanted to intervene in the debate about "Supermen" or "no Supermen".
This forum is d├ędicated to Superwomen, and Supermen aren't my cup of tea. However, the existence of Supermen could offer more possibilities for the stories.
But in one condition : Supermen must be weaker than other Superwomen !

I make no effort to hide my preferance for Erotic Super Villeness, on top.
Having supermen off screen as a referance for comparison to earthmen mortals and allike, could be cool as in providing opportunity for a supervilleness to mock the efforts of the mortal men in our world that confront her, you know the cockholding dominitrix thing, my cup of tea, but I am sure it would make others unconfortable.

This issue is a tough nut to crack, because of preferances and fetishes and all.

I think the existance of supermen off camera, could work for some, there interaction and presance for others, I personaly would keep supermen off camera, they could exist and be talked about to a certan extent but not be a major focus.

though a submissive superman could be cool, as he would be able to do things other men could only dream of as far as providing pleasure for a Superfemme, but I personaly find Superfemmes on the bottom or in peril, DISTASTEFULL, as I am a Chivalrious pig, and female supremisist.

Just my two cents.

I think I have been persuaded to change my position on having supermen in the SWMU. An outright ban would block off too many possible story ideas. As long as superwomen remain the focus of the SWMU, which they should, since it's right there in the name.

It seems we have a consensus now. There are some supermen around, but they are weaker than the superwomen.

For now what we know about the world:

1) There are some hundred superwomen with variable power level and kinds of power
2) All that women share the same super gen which gave all their powers. Don't matter what triggered the powers, the supergen made it possible.
3) There are few supermen around, but they are weaker
4) The existence of super persons are a public knowledge
5) They are around for few decades

Now I think we need just to set some world details and organize a bible as long we do our stories.

Here is my 2 cents about what we need to start.

I like the idea of superwomen are fruit of 20th century, something which just became possible when the mankind started to improve faster than any period. And a good jump point could be the World War II. Geeksevem did some stories about superwomen during the World War II, so what if they were the first superwomen and their existence triggered the heroic age? Of course it gives us some room to explore the history. They were some special weapons, not the Allies world war II turning point. So it keep with the general idea they didn't change the history.

Second topic to discuss. The number of superpowered women and what are the average joe, the corporate mongul and the govern bureaucrat point of view about them. Are they a common thing at every metropolis? Do the govern want them acting at their wars? How about the corporations? are they willing to sponsor a superwoman?

And the last thing how to organize our production bible. A production bible is just something we need to set to keep some coherence and gives us some resumed source of information. For the people who doesn't know what is an production bible, it is a "book" where all relevant information is stored. Like which super organizations are around, when it was organized and when it first appeared, or who is Miami superwomen and who among Miami superwomen are a good one or a bad one and so on. Of course a real production bible store a lot more information than this, like a whole character description including height, weight, dress code and other information relevant for artists and writers.

For more details about a production bible I suggest you read Malibu's ultraverse bible located Here

Going ahead is the only one way to go to the future.

I wouldn't really call all of these consensus, but more compromises. What I mean is that there could be a bit more discussion about them. But this might be just my personal opinion.

Yes, there may be men who are handsome and extraordinarily strong, but they can only share the life from a distance. They may make an ordinary mortal man but her's is the power.

As far as origin is concerned, I wouldn't mind there being a mixture of all three of the popular origins (Science, Aliens, Magic: what we think is magic could just be extraterrestrial science). If anything, read Mai the Psychic Girl, were all of the psychic powered children were in fact descendants of the ancient pantheons (Greek, Japanese, Nordic, Mesopotamian, ect.) I suggest that these superwomen, and supermen, share a genetic code that links them to these ancient gods, which in turn makes the theory that all of these pantheons are the same. However, after many centuries of mating with mortals and whatnot, this genetic code became dormant and recessive until a group of scientists on the Allied side discovered that particular code and theorizes that a great amount of energy is necessary in order to jump-start this code, thus the Super Soldier Project was born. So the Allied Countries pooled their resources together in order to make a few super soldiers, mostly men at the time though they eventually tried women who had this code. And the rest, you can say, is history.

Now, as far as these ancient gods go, we can either make them the ancient gods that we know and love from our history and mythology classes. Or we could make their actual identities to be ancient extraterrestrials. It's a toss up for me.

Also, shoutouts for me taking a page from Captain America and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater in one post! :D

Like this idea about the production bible. Any idea how to realize it? Opening a new thread would be the easiest way I think. So we could actually see, how many peoples we have who would invent a superwomen for our universe. Afterwards I bet it would be easy to handle the last disagreements.

Well and about the few points last open questionable discussion points: Why not starting a poll where every user can have more than two or three votes for her/his favourite power origin idea and two more for the second favourite and so on. So we could decide in a democratic way.

But on the one hand I agree to njae that there could be a more decent discussion, on the other hand, I'm afraid it will lead to endless discussion about irrelevancies and don't bring any consensus to the whole topic.

That doesn't make much sense to me. What good should the "supermen are weaker than superwomen by default"-rule be? This rule actually defeats the purpose of there being supermen at all, as they don't really have any additional value compared to normal men if they can't even be a challenge for the superwomen. Any dramatic tension during a superman vs superwoman fight is gone if there's a rule that dictates her superiority. I'd prefer them to be much less in number, but not in power. This also avoids complications with the varying power levels (if the weakest superwoman doesn't even have super strength, how powerful can male supers be?).

Ok I'm getting tired of this particular subtopic, let's see what else we have:

The majority of questionaire participants wanted the superwomen to not be around for that long and NOT have them affect history. So I don't have any real love for the whole 'super soldier during WWII' idea. To be honest, I still prefer the 'they are just beginning to appear/become known NOW' scenario, where the whole universe is more created in the stories written for it compared to the 'supers are public knowledge from the beginning' scenario. The 'bible' will be filled as more and more stories are written, since the universe get's filled with more and more characters. It should only contain the ground rules in the beginning.

I agree with Njae, making the supermen weaker by default defies the purpose of having them in the first place. I can agree to establish that the top tiers of the power scale are generally composed by superwomen, but that's it. If the weakest superwoman is still more powerful that the strongest supermen, then it's better to remove supermen from the equation from start.

Again agreed. I think that making superwomen a fully public and extremly recent phenomenon is limiting the possibilities of the authors. I would rather work with a different scenario, something like: the number of supers are increasing to the point that something has to leak and/or someone decide to go public. Otherwise no "unveiling" story will be possible and a new supergirl around will be just a minor note in the news (pretty much like having a new football team in the lowest division).

Yeah, something like for centuries, supers managed to avoid detection due to their small numbers (less than fifty) and a few secret organisations of them. E.g. the Amazons could specialize in training female supers to master their powers (to stay hidden and not to injure those around them) after a certain Helen caused the Troyan War due to her not being able to control her super pheromones.
Now in the 21st century the number of awakening supers are too much for these organisations to handle and modern technology makes it hard to deny the existance of supers anymore. This could go hand in hand with the ancient space god /metagene theory.

I'm definitely able to get behind that sort of idea. It gives a lot of flexibility, allowing long legacies or recent developments for individual characters depending upon the individual story. It also allows public and hidden superwomen. That's pretty much exactly the set-up I would have chosen for the history of the world.
