The trailer for 2x09, the Supergirl Lives episode looks like it contains scenes from other upcoming episodes.
One last thing, Melissa Benoist just filed for divorce from husband of less than two years, Blake Jenner.

Guess it's a good idea Blake's character didn't stay around as a love interest. With Cat's decreased role, he wasn't likely to come back. I hope the break-up is amicable and everyone moves on to happier lives.
Mxyzptlk can be tricky, but if when well done they can be fantastic stories. Not sure it should be TWO episodes unless there is some great trick to highlight character development. Maybe he shows up lurking around first, THEN has a real episode? But if he's prominent, a two-parter is better than two one-shots. He should not be over-used.

I kinda hope they don't do that. Mxyzptlk works best if hes the focus-hes a good, show up for one episide cause chaos then be forced back kinda antagonist.Frankly i think my favorite use of him was the Superman Animated Series which is like 6 or 7 Mxyzptlk stories in the course of 22 minutes, and while its played as a lampshade of silver age its still pretty great . Also Gilbert Godfried is the best choice ever for the part.
And i do think he could work well as a foe. As i said before, when the show does "punching and kicking "Villians it doesn't always go great. However when the show , and hes the ultimate example of not that. Hes a good example of characters you have to defeat by your wits-and this is a compliment-Kara isn't always a character whose wits are her strong suis. Shes smart, but not necessairly think on your feet smart. And that can work sometimes in a comedy epsiodes.
So i am looking forward to this.

I think Melissa also has a lot of natural humor in her, and not the sophisticated kind.
Kevin and Melissa could probably knock these episodes completely out of the park if they let it all go. If so, like all the rest of his stuff, half the people will love them and half hate them.
But as I see it, we live in an entertainment world that is increasingly filled with homogenized, sanitized, badly done repeats of stuff that's been done before.
Kevin does NOT live in that world. His brain does not work like normal people's.

If you've never listened to Smith talk about writing Superman Lives, the movie that later became a TimBurton/nick cage movie and was never made ... you should. It's hilarious, and I think the episode of super girl is named in its honor. I wonder if there will be a giant spider?
I think this is it (mobile snd I can't listen)
I would like to see Lexi Alexandra back on a supergirl episode too.

That talk was GREAT. Classic Kevin. The man's mind is amazing in that he can tell a story like that in answer to a question at a comiccon or whatever. Total impromtu. Prick a hole and comedy just flows out of the man.
Interesting for him to say that dialog is the only thing he can write. That explains a lot.
Here's hoping he does the Supergirl Lives episode(s) in classic Kevin Smith form.

Maybe he likes to work with Melissa Benoist more than he likes working with Grant Gustin.
I hear that Gustin can be had to work with. I also have heard why he never does the convention circuit is because he asks for too much money
