Season 2 x 03 Spoilers & Discussions Welcome to Earth
LYNDA CARTER (“WONDER WOMAN”) LANDS IN NATIONAL CITY AS PRESIDENT OLIVIA MARSDIN — An attack is made on the President (guest star Lynda Carter) as hot-button, alien vs. human rights issues heat up in National City. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and the DEO are assigned to protect the President and bring in the responsible party. Alex (Chyler Leigh) teams up with Detective Maggie Sawyer (Floriana Lima) to investigate the case while Kara searches for a recently escaped Mon-El (Chris Wood), who she fears may be the alien behind the assault. Rachel Talalay directed the episode written by Jessica Queller and Derek Simon (#203). Original airdate 10/24/2016.
Marsdin? Or Marston?

For the proper homage, it should be William Moulton Marston, the creator of WW. I wonder if Marsdin is a mistake or they can't use Marston's name for some reason?
Either way, it sounds like a neat episode.

Especially the "Easter eggs" (I counted 2) to Carter's more famous persona (and especially the "interesting" last shot of her ) Dont want to say much more, spoilers, so will wait a bit until more have got a round to seeing it
I will add that I loved Maggie and the dynamic she brings to the show. Look forward to seeing where that goes (possibly with Alex ).
All-in-all 3 for 3 so far for me this season. Hope it continues
Peace.

I thought the "Dolly Parton"-centric alien hangout was cute, and a neat plot device for Maggie and Alex going forward to get intel. While the whole "alien amnesty" thing reeked of similarities to the "mutant registration act", I liked the "positive" spin on it, rather than a negative slant (like Marvel's).
I really enjoy the last 5 mins of the CW shows for the cliffhanger surprises they show each week. This one was no exception and I can say I didn't see that coming!
I hope more people -- especially those frustrated with S1 -- give it a chance. It's getting better. Now I'll just sit back and wait for the inevitable rant about the absurd and 'unrealistic' logistics of the President's security detail, especially during the attacks.

I read that as more to do with the current US elections (with the show having a heavy Hillary slant) with the "aliens" being the immigrants Trump has spoken about. Didn't really draw the parallel with Marvel's Mutant Registration Act, but yeah, can see that too

The parallels with the current political climate were pretty evident, unfortunately. I need my CW shows for a little escapism these days in fear for the next 4 years..... ::

A whole row of people were wiped out behind the President in the attack at the Referendum signing.
I guess they really were not that important.
Everybody was smiling at the conclusion of the episode.

Just a bad person with no real backstory.
Also nice cleavage.
I believe hers was the first shown on the show.

This was not supergirls finest outing in the saving peoples department. Especially in the first outing she could have saved a bunch of secret service people.

The nod to our soon to be female president and support for aliens was a bit clumsy and obvious even for a comic book show.
The one place the show is a bit concerning is the video game approach to killing off minor characters. No matter how many people die, Kara is always cheerful. They were just humans I guess. Unless they are family, they don't count. Can't let the death of otherwise good men and women get in thr way of being upbeat and happy.

Didn't they like vaporize or something?

The elephant has entered the room.
We have two dying species with the exception of a single mating pair from each. The death of a species is WAY bigger deal the death of a nation or an ethnic group or a race. Extinction is the ultimate fail. Imagine if you were young and you and your mate were the last humans in existence?
One trait we humans share with rats is that our fertility goes way up when our species is dying faster than it's being born.
Up to now, Kara, Kal and Jon assumed they were the last of their respective species. But in reality, we've now got Adam and Eve for two species. They can rebuild their population.
Seems a bit much to see both those potential relationships appear in the same episode. Clearly, the writers are working feverishly on painting the elephant.

We saw a bunch of Krytonians from last season.
I hardy think these two are the last eligible couple from Krypton's solar system.
I do think we are getting my second least favorite trope this season:
"Good Girl likes Bad Boy"

I thought they killed off all the other Kryptonians last season? After Kara put an end to the prison space station thingy. Whatever.
But Jon definitely thought he was the last green martian. Until now.
I'm just glad they got past the stupidly written Kara and James subplot. That was painfully weak. There could be some hope for the Good Girl Bad Boy thing. At least until the lead gets to him.
