Walking on water

I guess I originally got the idea from Superman II, in the scene where Zod walks across a lake. I just love the concept of a beautiful super-woman casually walking across a body of water as if it's no big deal (and the little touch, of well, blasphemy attached it is an added kink). Of course she would stand perfectly stable no matter how rough the water got, laughing as boats get tossed around by the sea. Sometimes just for fun, she would run past a speedboat at super-speed (the same way she likes to run past cars on land), and watch with a smile as it founders in her wake. I realize Berkhart touched upon this subject in the Ship Takeover thread , but I thought it needed it's own thread.

I admit I toyed with this idea for a while, but I never found a decent way to incorporate that in a story.

I'm not usually one to argue, but I always thought walking on water was just a lame use of flying powers. I mean... it's like she's basically flying, but then just sort of pretending to put her feet on the surface. It is cool imagery I guess... but seems like more trouble than it's worth for a girl who could instead just effortlessly float six inches above the surface of the water, elegantly keeping the precious soles of her feet perfectly dry.

It's ok, you're entitled to your opinion, and I can see what you're saying. I look at it as just a way of showing off. Unnecessary perhaps, but cool. You could also argue that if a super-babel has super-breath and/or heat-vision, why should she even bother using her super-strength to defeat her enemies, since she could take care of them merely by blowing on them or zapping them with her super-peepers. But as Anon suggested, it probably works better visually, like in a photo or a movie clip, than in a story.

6" off the water, 60' overhead, pretending to walk on water. All good in my eyes.

A somewhat related idea I like would be a superwoman walking UNDER water. Casually breathing in water instead of air and withstanding the enormous pressure of the ocean floor.

Oh yes I like that too. I can imagine her walking on the ocean floor, and maybe waving at some stunned and frightened men in a bathyscaphe as she walks by (and perhaps ripping it open and watching them explode ). And in response to what goobers said about CF, I don't remember him having super-babes walking on water, but I'm pretty sure I recall him having them walk under water, and swimming under water at super-speed. If you can remember any CF stories with super-girls walking on water, let me know because I'd love to read them.

It is a pretty cool power, and yet another obvious display of the bad girl's superiority over everybody else. I dig that touch of "blasphemy" in the ability too, Dr. Lazarus :)
