6 Injured In Barroom Brawl
Wasilla, Alaska (AP)
A biker gang apparently bit off more than they could chew early Saturday morning when they decided to pick on the wrong truck driver. Wasilla Police were dispatched to Joe's Tavern on Swanson Avenue at 0200 hours in reference to a fight. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found six people in need of medical attention. Witnesses testified that the trouble started when truck driver, Lisa Kelly, tried to enter the restroom when two males later identified as members of a local biker gang, tried to block her path. One of the bikers tried to grab her from behind when she fought back. The fighting escalated when other gang members saw the commotion and rushed in to assist.
A bar patron who chose to remain anonymous stated,"It only lasted a couple of minutes. She was outnumbered but, you could hardly tell by the way she went to town on them. Bodies were flying left and right. One big guy tried to swing a pool cue at her but she grabbed it and whacked him across the face. He went down like a sack of potatoes. She sure didn't waste any time. It was all over before you knew what was happening."
After the fight, Kelly went back and sat at the bar and waited for police to arrive. She was being fully cooperative and other witnesses backed up her version of the events. Police report that six gang members were transported to the hospital with injuries ranging from broken bones to lacerations. Four other gang members suffered minor injuries. Kelly was apparently uninjured in the fracas. No charges were being filed against Kelly in what was seen as a case of self defense.
