The Awakening

Back in the day a video was released by Bully Pup, LaraFan, and Mike Conway that was a boat load of Ubergirl fun.

The Awakening. I stumbled upon it on Amazon Video.

You can watch if free with Amazon Prime or for $3. I busted out my old DVD of it to watch it again even though I am Prime. Nostalgia. Gawd was Tamra gorgeous!

"Not all super heroes are nice"

This needs a remake and a sequel! And give her flying powers.

A blast from the past! I dug out the dvd when I was moving house recently. Wasn't this part of Mandi Steele's series of films from her site with Sierra Steele?

Ah yes... I remember flying into Vegas to meet with Tamra and "Bully Pup" (who had a totally cute English Bulldog that went everywhere with him) to talk about writing.

Tamra said she liked my Mandi Olson character (an Arion Prime, my original, recurring villain in stories) best of all. She never said whether that's where she got the character name she used, but at least one scene from my stories of the day made it into the movie (the awful skull crunch!). Or maybe that was an earlier, experimental movie. My recollections are hazy.

I was living in SE Asia at the time, so I didn't exactly have a way to contribute anything more. They did a great job on the movie, especially given the budget, lack of experience and other limitations of the time.

And by the way, Tamra is even more impressive in person than on screen, IMHO. Met her in a Mexican bar and she was dressed kind of like a Prime, with some awesome boots. One of those special kind of women who stop conversations when she walks into a bar, especially dressed that way.

She was an elixir for my inner muse. And not just mine, obviously.

I cannot watch the movie due to the area restriction in Amazon video, does anybody know how to solve this problem?

I just watched the Awakening on Amazon Prime.

While I usually am not into this "Superwoman on a Rampage" type movie.
(I hate the good girl goes bad trope we see again and again)
This movie was quite enjoyable.
Well written with a story that kept moving forward.
The lead actress was pretty good and she had a fantastic costume that she completely owned while wearing it.
I personally was drawn more to the bad girl though and was a little let down at the end.
I was shocked to see a 2005 date!
Over ten years ago.
Are there any more movies or shorts from this production company available?

Thx! Mikes company, Midnight Sun, also did Terrarium and Exile which are both on Amazon Prime methinks

Erik Manion (me) actually wrote a rough draft for a sequel but it never went anywhere.

Terrarium and Exile
Thanks LFAN

Could you give us a brief run down of what the sequel would have been like?
A good fight between Lara and the Badgirl I hope.

I could not find Terrarium on Amazon

There are two movies titled Exile on Amazon, neither of which seem to fall into our genre.

Neither fall into he ubergirl genre. They are both sci-fi. Exile does feature a superstrong android played by Heather, who played he role of the "big boss" in the Awakening. She is imposing, standing around 6 feet.
I can't find Terrarium either but here is the link for Exile:

If you can, give the film a rating on Amazon Prime. It will help it get seen by more people. Maybe encourage others to make similar films.

A lot of independent and low budget film makers seem to be making Amazon Prime a good distribution source for their projects. I am actually surprised it took so long to get the film there, but am glad that it is there now. What is ironic is how there are not similar low-budget, independent films like this out there considering the explosion of independent films thanks to easier access to quality film equipment and video editing software.

Regarding the skull crushing scene, I think Shadar is thinking of Girl of Steele that was a short experimental film that Mandi when they began experimenting with video. The villain played by Mandi had a skull crushing scene when she shows up.

As for region restrictions, there are several VPN services that you can subscribe to in order to get around those restrictions.
