Becky Kyle posted this at Facebook, with the comment: "She even improved the boots. That is one hella gorgeous Cosplay." The original source is cited as New Gods of Supertown. Way too sexy to be dismissed as P.C.

I'm not a WW scholar but weren't there Nubians or whatever in the comics? A different group of Amazons in a different location who were black and held to different traditions.

And yeah, she looks pretty hot. Nice costume work.

In 1973 the audience was introduce to Nubia (o Nu'Bia) , Wonder Woman's black sister. The original explanation was that Hippolyta actually shaped two daughter out of clay, Diana with white clay and Nubia with black clay. This second daughter was actually kidnapped by Ares, who tried to use her to destroy the Amazons.
Like a crapton of other characters Nubia was remocved from continuity during the original Crisis on Infinite Earths in 1985 and reintroduced many years later (in 2000). This new version of the character, now officially named Nu'Bia, was introduced as a previous Amazon champion, tasked with guarding the gates of Hell and from there you got one of the most asinine storyline imaginable.

Classic Nubia was supposed to be a perfect match fro Diana in any possible way except the equipment, instead of the Lasso of Truth and Bracelets, she carried a sword and shield made by Ares.
The 2000 Nu'Bia had over 3,000 years of combat experience and gained the ability to turn people into stone from the Gorgons. She also carried an armor which allowed to travel from the realm of Ades and back.

Classic Nu'Bia sounds like an interesting character, vis a vis the Amazons or even Kryptonians, who don't handle "magical"  powers very well. Hope we see her appearance in a well-written storyline some day. She'd be one hell of a dramatic adversary.

Only risk is that she won't pass muster from a Millennial PC perspective (black equals bad, white equals good), but I'm too old to worry about that kind of imagery. Just give her a role that's morally conflicted that intertwines with some questionable ethics on WW's part and it washes out within the storyline.
