This is a movie inspired by Toom Raider
yeah Gus Van Savant- the director who is most intrested in film as formalist media saw toom raider-and what he got from it was how neat the camera was-your basically constantly following laura as she goes on her adventure.
Back in 2003 that was very hard(there is famously a dolly shot that is half a mile long)-but when you see it there is something effecting about it-just this sense of people going and moving on a quest.
I honestly don't think much of either of the previous toom raider movie-there generic female tough girl action movies, that the second has a little notion of heart to it, but not much. There kinda boring really.
but there is something there. the recent ones do a great job of just creating a character for Laura Croft-someone who is scared and a little vulnerable-but the originals share at there best the sence that she is on a quest- a hard quest, a dark quest, but a sence that she has to keep going.
, what i would find most intresting about another tomb raider movie is if they did something like this. In my head it would be a neat movie if it is just one 100 minute long take of her going through a dungeon. And Vikander would be great at doing that.
Of course they don't have to do that specifically-but i really hope they have an idea for that-cause thats what makes the game.
