The week after, five criminals are detained when one notices the deformed bar;
"Hey guys, there's something wrong with that bar. Give me a hand to loosen it and we're free!"
"NNNGGHHH!!!" all five groaned as the bar didn't budge an inch as they PULLED with all their might at a steel bar that had effortlessly been stretched loose in a second by a kryptonian girl with superstrength.

One thing that's always nice about Laura V is that she really knows how to use body language and expressions to project power in this kind of scene. She's also fit enough to be believable. It's the little details that geek me out.

Monty wrote: I can't recall this scene at all from Wonder Woman. Nice scene with Lynda tho...
Ah! That's the stuff.
Wonder Woman should be super-tough vs normal humans. Need to have more scenes like that ... except she's trained as a warrior and doesn't generally treat combat like a joke and allow free shots like that simply to prove how superior she is (she doesn't feel the need, and isn't arrogant). Now Power Girl, Supergirl, or Mary Marvel...
Though a small panel, this is one of my favorite images of Mary Marvel:
That's a sweet spot for me, the cute, girly chick just totally ignoring the best that some big burly men can dish out. ( I mean I also love the huge muscled Barda intimidating the hell out of people too.)
i've commissioned this a few times, but none of them are quite as good as I wanted them to be.
I HATED a recent JLA by Christopher Priest (who I normally love). Superman gets shot close range by some thugs, and Wonder Woman gets hit by the shrapnel AND INJURED! (She's in critical care/knocked out, etc.) UG! She should be bulletproof! (Unless you say "because magic" )

But it did send an expectation, to me at least, that said this show was going to show a Kryptonian being Kryptonian. Which is to say, using her fantastic strength and invulnerability to deal with bad guys. A female no less.
The Superman movies had, for the most part, whiffed on this.
Unfortunately, that didn't travel with the show to the CW Oh well.

Looking at this scene again, she probably killed that second guy. Imagine getting punched in the face full force - even if she slightly pulled her Punch - p.s. that's not gonna happen - by a girl with superstrength! (Serves him right for shooting Kara with high-powered ammunition)

One of the more realistic portrayals of such a punch was in the first season of Jessica Jones, where in a flashback (where she is under mind control), she is shown slamming her palm into Luke Cage's wife's chest hard enough to send her flying this way -- and instantly killing her. That is what would happen, but given Kara doesn't kill (ordinary folks anyway), that scene is actually all wrong.
Still, it was nicely done even if it wasn't "realistic', by the standards of the show's premise. No surprise on that.

One of the things that endeared me to Mary, at least at the time of this panel, was that no other superhero seemed to enjoy their powers so much. And the fact that Mary was one of the most powerful of them all anyway, made it seem even cooler.

The scene was changed to make Kara look cuter as she blew her crumbled rock fragments away from her open palm and she smiled.
The original scene looks cooler as she lands on the shore, picks up the rock inquisitively, glances up at her new Sun, and then, accidentally, the rock crumbles into gravel and then dust.from her hand. Pouring the fragments back to the shore, she hops up and bounds away without a thought.
Perhaps the scene was dropped, as for a kids movie staring up directly into the sun would not be a good education for youngsters...
E.T.A. When Kara glances down at her handiwork, she is oblivious to what she has achieved;
'Oh well, the rocks here must be made out of porous sand or something...'
She looks innocently unaware of the powers she now possesses.

Looking back on this thread after it posted up again, got to say my favourite one is here. Kara is looking young, fresh and adventurous. Whilst the general public are running sh*t scared in all directions, she quickly strides, almost marches towards her would-be assailants and their oncoming bullets with a confident smile on her face.Way more violent and fast than I can remember, (a good thing) Wished she kicked more ass like this, But it was her debut after all.
Felon No.1; Easily taken down onto his back like a sack of spuds (probably with a broken arm from Kara, to thank him for his efforts) whilst she simultaneously grabs at high speed and easy strength the semi-automatic rifle from felon number 2.
Felon No.2; Not so lucky as number 1, as Kara nonchalantly drives her fist into his face. Even if she Pulls her Punch, Kara sends him flying through the air, say 20 metres? (she is the only one who knows what real flying is about after all), smashing his head into the concrete steps of the bank he has just tried to rob.
(Sigh..those were the days...)
She wouldn't see the need to wait for the cops to turn up and apprehend them. Job taken care of. Kara can glance up and reach for the skies.
A great pace and rhythm with Kara being effortlessly quick and efficient, despite this being her first real encounter.
The pace and rhythm to the scene is almost hypnotic!
E.T.A. The two guys are in separate law enforcement questioning rooms after Kara's debut (and after the two guy's eventual.recoveries);
"Who the hell was that? Who the hell is she? "
Chief of Police response;
"Uhh.....we ask the questions here, not you."
