Deathstalker vs Gorgo

I recently revisited a movie I enjoyed when I was younger.
Deathstalker II showed up on Amazon Prime and I watched it.
It is a sword and sorcery action/ comedy movie from the 1980s

Deathstalker is a handsome hero and Princess Evie looks like she stepped right out of 1980s Los Angeles

The hero is likable, the women are beautiful and sexy, there is plenty of action  and corny jokes.
I LOVED it.

In one scene our hero has trial by combat against the Amazon champion Gorgo played by then popular GLOW wrestler Queen Kong




And here is where I noticed something.
Deathstalker is dwarfed by Gorgo as she outclasses him in every category.
He is tossed around the ring like a rag doll and will lose the fight....until he starts using the same moves that Black Widow, Agent May and WASP use in the Marvel movies.
He starts throwing his legs at Gorgo and wraps around her neck and he uses his body weight and inertia against the larger, stronger opponent.
Just like the Marvel gals do!


I thought it was brilliant and a fun comparison between the two universes.

When I was young I remember seeing a movie entitled "Gorgo." It was about a Godzilla type giant trex rampaging through London of all places

Gorgo is also the name of King Leonidas' wife from 300 Spartans fame.

Here she is played by Lena Heady in the movie 300
I love this movie and i watch it all the time.


There is a sex scene in 300 between Gorgo and Leonidas.
While watching this movie I realized this is a scene featuring a married couple.
After the movie was over I started thinking about how many scenes like that I have scene in mainstream movies and could only come up with a handful.
I thought that was pretty weird.

The last movie I saw with a scene like that was Bone Jangler.
The Doctor and his wife get it on in the morning before all the action starts.
