Jolt (2021) Kate Beckinsale

I did a forum search and didn't see anything on Jolt, a Kate Beckinsale film out on Amazon Prime about a beautiful woman who loses her temper at the drop of a hat and beats the living poop out of people. Kind of like a female hulk.



Reviews seem to be luke warm but, I'd watch it just to watch Kate kick ass.

It's pretty much Crank:High Voltage more or less, with a British female in the lead instead of a male.

Its dumb, makes little sense, and if it wasn't for Beckinsale in the role I wouldn't have watched it  

But at 1 hr 30mins runtime, I could think of worse ways to waste time

It had potential, but it didn't go far or wild enough. Beckinsale is hot as always, but her strength is all over the place. In some scenes she rips through handcuffs and throws a guy across the room. And in other scenes she gets pummeled. It's all a bit of a mess, but to be fair, it's not the worst thing ever.

To be honest, a super strong girl with a bad temper wreaking havoc has been a fantasy of mine except someone younger like Kristen Stewart in her Twilight days.

 

100% of the appeal of this was Kate kicking ass, motivated by rage in a Hulkish kind of way, albeit without transformations  or true super strength. 

The producers had many good opportunities to go full superpowered with her, but each time, they turned back to the "mother lifts car off child" meme of of adrenalized strength. 

Only in the last seconds do we see a glimmer of hope that suggests she might be something more. Maybe even an alien influence. All of which is left dangling. 

So much potential left untouched, but an obvious setup for a sequel.
