What is the basic plot of Battle Angel?
Cameron: 26th century, the story takes place 300 years after a societal collapse caused by a major war, but in that society, it's a technological dark age following a pinnacle of achievement far, far beyond where we are right now. So in a sense it's post-apocalyptic, but it's post-apocalyptic from a very high level. So now, you've got cyborg technology as just a way of life. People are augmented a lot as workers and so on, so being a cyborg is not unusual. The main character is a cyborg. She has an organic human brain, and she looks like she's about fourteen years old. She has a completely artificial body and she's lost her memory- she's found in this wreckage and she's reconstituted by this guy who is a cyber-surgeon who becomes her kind of surrogate father. It's a father-daughter relationship story that just has the most insane action that you can imagine. It will be PG-13 -- lots of blood, but it's all blue."

This casting call makes it sound as if the lead will be a little older...

Based on the manga of the same name, no doubt.

Which is so amazingly over-the-top and disturbing that I'm shocked they could make a movie of it... I bet it's going to be dumbed down and made a lot more tame.

If you like ubergirls and don't mind their abilities being non-natural, read the manga. They do some crazy stuff in there, but it's usually 'fast' rather than 'strong' for the lead char- doing damage by martial arts rather than brute force.

WOW this series is really old, I totally forgot about this series! As far as i know there are only 2 episodes of the anime but loads of manga about it, im guessing this series started out as manga first then anime. Here are some things you can expect (from the manga) from battle angel.

1. Alita thinks about hugo emotionally/or how she loves him without even realizing she is crushing a steel banister.

2. a ghoul stabs her in the chest without doing anykind of damage to her. she tries to pull away from him and accidentally pulls both his arms off. [:D]

3. She jumps on top of a guy that is in a steel suit/robot with a man inside. she takes her fists and slams it straight down on top of the head of the suit, crushing both him (alot of gore) and the head of the robot. thats gotta hurt. [xx(]

This is just a small portion of strength feats in the manga! There are a ton more but i can't remember them from the top of my head as this was years ago.

James Cameron's Project 880 is not Battle Angel, but Battle Angel is indeed in the works.
