Animation has been very good to us all of a sudden.

She's not exactly uber, more of a fast martial arts, kind of character but she can use the 4 elements of Air Fire Water and Earth. I've only seen one episode so far but if the prequel series is any indication, earth gives her super strength, and air gives her super speed and super breath, while water gives her freeze breath.

I think it's more like 70 years later, but yeah. Earthbending doesn't technically give super strength, though nothing's stopping an Earthbender from physically ripping a big boulder out of the ground and chucking it at a target, and an Earthbender skilled in Metalbending(pioneered by Toph in The Last Airbender and later taught by her to members of the Republic City police force) can crumple metal like it's paper. It may be a while until Korra's outrunning satomobiles though, she's only just started her airbending training and had a mental block keeping her from doing ANY Airbending until she had an epiphany at the climax of episode 2. In episode 3 we see Korra properly performing the training exercise that she repeatedly failed in episode 2 so it's probably only a matter of time before Korra learns Aang's cool super speed moves.

The 5 year timeskip and roster changes are really confusing however.

Hehe...funny line from Wonder Woman. Not much airtime of Cassie, but she DID have a nice bit of superstrength where she rips part of a robot "spider" off with her lasso, catches it and throws it back to destroy another one...

Probably one of the best lines in the episode.
I admit I'm kind of on the fence with Invasion. I love the first two seasons and I'm not sure that a 5 years fast forward is the right way to handle this show, but so far it works pretty well.

16 hr rampage by JL
Aquagirls death
Initiation of new members (origins?)
I imagine it'll turn more JLU-esque in coming episodes focusing on smaller "teams" (alpha, beta, etc) to better handle character development and shine the focus on a smaller group. Right now, there are too many (maybe 12-13, not counting the JLU) to give everyone enough quality airtime.
It is nice to see Cassie, though I hate her "fan girl" costume. My big question right now is, ok we've seen:
Superboy to Superman
Batgirl to Batman
Wondergirl to Wonderwoman
Where is Mary Marvel to compliment Shazam, who's been featured on the show in more than a few episodes...

lfan wrote: Agreed...kinda cross between a soap opera and JLU at this point with all the plot "twists" and such. I certainly hope -- but doubt -- they'll go back and kinda show some of the events that they reference such as:
16 hr rampage by JL
Aquagirls death
Initiation of new members (origins?)
I hope so.

That is my guess too.

This a minefield, eLF. During JLU the production team was able to use Captain Marvel/Shazam only in one episode due to some residual legal loophole linked to older productions. Mary Marvel is part of the characters linked to the same kind of problem.
BTW, I think that the fangirl costume works well enough for Cassie.

Curious...you know if they've worked out the Shazam legal stuff (like they did for Wondergirl)? Cause I think he's been in at least 3 episodes of YJ so far (though none on Invasion)

Maybe they get some sort of waiver to use the Shazam characters but can only use them for a limited amount of episodes...
