Lifetime Movie Network's Forever 16
I wanted to post about it here because I just saw tv commercial for it and the sopt itself was filled with superstrength scenes. Lots o jumping and throwing bad guys and the like. Looks like it's a backdoor pilot for a tv series.

I could not believe all the superstrength scenes that appeared in the spot. Lifetime does not do superwomen shows.

Is Forever 16 a backdoor pilot for LMN? Maybe. They currently have no scripted programs, just a few socalled "reality" shows.
The lead actress is named Tiera Skovbye. She's a Vancouver based model/actress. This is her first real lead role.

One would think, however, the LMN network is known for their regular "16" and "17" themed movies. This one just has a fantasy spin to it.
Nevertheless, it is quite a deviation from their regular dramatic movie themes, so maybe it is a pilot test for getting into that genre....

A 16 Year old Vampire Undercover Cop?
In the narative fiction thats reasonable on LifeTime Tv(which i admited checkeded out on following a long time ago). The cops recruit a muderious creature of the night to infultrrate high school? Do they give her a Yo-Yo? this premise which sounds a lot like anime-but it exists, agian on american TV.
Someone please watch this to just tell me-just....
curious if it only sounds crazy when i say it.

16 year old body with a century old mind, perhaps?

Maybe they just don't have the promo budget that parent network, Lifetime has.

However, ther is a nice tip of the hat to the classic Bionic Woman in one fun scene. Hint: Raven, the main character is clocked running at 150 mph.
I liked it. The ending is a bit of cliffhanger and screams for either a second telemovie or a weeklly series.

Also the terrorist kid from Continuum is in it? That's about all that was interesting.

This is a shame.
I know some of the people behind assyulum-the company that makes things like sharknado and giant shark vs mega octupus.
Why do i bring this up?
Well these movies are increasingly getting some version of mainstream attention. There getting reviewed in newspapers, internet-there memes.
Now its easy to fault them for being crap-and they are crap, no mistake. I say this despite the fact that yeah it might get back to the people i know-but they have heard it. They don't really care very much(i could tell you stories-which agian they wouldn't care very much if i did but not the point). Its the get attention.
I am going to bet that the budget for this movie is similar to say sharknado, Probabbly around 500k. I bet even without seeing its more competently made TV Movie. And as i have said before this sounds a lot of fun-it has a werid werid concept that if done right could be spectacular. Regardless of any superstrength what ever, this just sounds more fun to me then megashark vs whatever.
Vampires. Teens. Undercover police officers. The kid from continumium.
But its not getting any attention. Not from lifetime, not from anyone.
And i don't see why-becuse agian: Vampires. Teens. This sounds like it could be something.
And why not?

I contacted Tiera Skovbye, via Twitter to ask her if there were any plans for a sequel telefilm or tv series and she replied not yet but hoping to find out soon.

I think you added a zero there, but the point stands. Yeah there is a world where this gets a lot of publicty and is a big hit.

AJF wrote: C'mon, somebody else here has had to have seen Forever 16.
I saw it also and here is my synopsis review (spoilers ahead):
On the powers front, as some others have said, it was disappointing that they played up the superspeed stuff SO much. I mean there were like 4-5 scenes where they really showed her going superfast. The obligatory 'training montage' I thought was a HUGE wasted opportunity for showing her strength. As evidenced by the throw later in the movie, she was far stronger than a normal human. It would have been nice to see them try to gauge her limits like they did with the treadmill and jumping scenes.
As for the plot, it was rather predictable, and I saw the one rich kid being a fellow vampire a mile away. Still, it wasn't nausiating and I actually sat through it -- although I'm fairly tolerable.
It really seemed like they left the door open for another movie or a series the way it ended. I'd welcome and possibly even give it a chance if it did

I asked if Forever 16 a backdoor pilot or the first of a series of telefilms.
I just got an email from them saying, yes it is a potential backdoor pilot, but it's up to Lifetime to decide if it ends going to series or becomes a mini series.
