After reading the comics a bit, i am kind of curious about it

the comic itself was more like Buffy Mixed with Garden State-A dose of supernatural, but with much more emphasis on creating a kind of post punk atmosphere. Its modern day vertigo, and felt very much of a peice of of modern indie comics-exagerated Robert Crumb inspired art, quirky characters, emphasis on cool- that i am not sure how it will work at all in live action and keeping its spirt- not that i was a giant fan of its spirit, which often felt a little shambling for a zombie story(ha) but still. From what i am gathering there changing a lot....

and well curious.

The shows producers, who also created Veronica Mars, have said it differs greatly from the comic book.

In the book, there were a bunch of supernatural creatures like vampires and witches.
For the series, there only zombies and perhaps zombie hunters.

The tv series seems to more action driven, too.

This show could be the closet thing we have to Buffy the Vampire Slayer being produced for US tv, not including Canadian imports like Lost Girl.

I've seen the pilot, no "interesting sequences" as of yet but there is definately some potential in the show.

They have released a trailer for i guess the march release

Looks neat. Got an interesting quirky comedy feel to it, which i always thought the original comic was trying for but never quite got. Definently has a strong Veronica Mars feel, which can be fun(Even if i never was the largest fan in the world of it).

And looks like there going for Zombies aren't super strong, as really really tough which you often see in movies, which in the trailer at least in its one action scene they do have fun with-but will see where this goes. This could be a nice little guilty pleasure show.

Saw it and liked it. Only minor uber references (when she gets angry, she goes into full Zombie mode), but I thought it was cute.

Liked it.

This may not to much like an ubergirl show-not really but its a pretty fun superheroine show.

Oliva Mooree is an up and coming doctor with a handsome fiance who after she gets attacked by monsters at a boat party that isn't her scene, she discovers shes a zombie. Kinda. She needs to eat brains, is immune to damage, and is fast strong etc. She also can walk and talk, and act more or less normally, and when she eats people brains gains something of there insights, there personalities, learns how they die. She quits medicine for the lviing and turns into a coroner and well....

when the police need help solving the mystery of a dead Callgirl she steps She becomes a sidekick detective.Basically a superehero, with some quirks.

This is definetly some from the same people who made Veronica Mars-a show that felt like Buffy the Vampire Slayer minus the vampires. This feels like they added 1/4 of it back.

The show has a lot to recomend. Rose Mciver is winning as the lead-yeah shes doing a version of Veronica Mars but it works-she protrays a good sence of someone who either can't quite feel or doesn't want to-which works for it and as the zombie stuff happens-shes not bad. Rahul Kohl is a lot of fun as her mourge boss as an excited happy englishman who has a lot of fun when he discovers that his employee is a zombie. Malcom Goodwin in a diffrent note is good as her cop partner, as a smart enough guy who may suspect theres bloody murder but well...can't say.

The script is mostly pretty good and funny-, and the murder plot isn't the most compicated in the world given this is a pilot has some nice bits(at one points She devolops the super power....to speak romanian. The show kind of plays around with a larger world building plotline without pushing it down your throat which i liked.

however its a little weak with the exposition-people say things that they wouldn't say establish things that everyone knows. The first 10 minutes before she was a zombie ehh, if i were writing it i would cut it for a latter episode. But it has it momments.

some of the cast isn't great-basically everyone who comes from her old life-her mother, her best friend-she in particularhas the problem with Shows like Veronica mars where all the characters are a little similar for her own good. She comes across like a pepper version of Olive, which ehh.

Her Ex fiance i Major played by Robert Buckley is hansdsome and charming enough as it. It plays a lot with Shadar like ideas of "Well i want to be with you..but if we have sex...what will happen" except instead of super strength and to strong its I'll eat your brains. You see her dillemia.

And it gets to the climax when she turns full zombie-its not badly done. Its not great, its not at arrow level, and i am not sure its trying to be-but it does have fun with a car chase, and if not super strength some intresting bits with Invulnerability -i suspect in future episodes it may improve. The show never goes full zombie-but well first episode. It may get more of it.

This is a show somewhere between a cop show and asuperheroine show-but well there not really that diffrent. This is acomicbook based but actually has very little to do with the original not great vertigo series-but strangely of all the comicbook shows this leans the most heavily into a comic asshetic with lots of bold colors and pannels introducing every act with a title card(which isn't a bad effect)

And If nothing else the first episode functions as a kind of a fun origin story how she gets there, and if nothing else that has something to recommend it. as a story of a woman who learns to embrace her powers. you can see it on The CW.com and i would recomend it for everyone to check it out. If your in America that is.

I am really liking this show,

Just did the second episode in its a lot of fun. This is well worth a watch.

Its devoloping its mythology, introducing villians-and kind of having fun establishing a show thats kind of a murder of a week but a sence of devolopment. We meet the evil zombie(David Anders in a pretty good deceptivly small minded villian). As he works to build up his zombie empire, one advertising Exec at a time-its clever and if we don't get the big zombie on zombie fight at the end-well..serialized TV.

The second episode t also plays a lot with kind of Shadareque notions of her lusts-when she eats the brains of a polygamous painter she devolops incredible sex drive to as the episode observes "late night premium cable levels" but well-she can't do anything about it to both her ex fiance, and well a lot of the characters she meets(of both genders).

(i think the biggest complaint i have with it is the Evil Zombie Plot and the Dead Artist plotline felt a little oddly mixed in terms of editing. )

As a show its it does have a lot of fun as a kind of examination of a superheroine using somewhat unconventional superpowers and how it effect her life in a mostly in unconventional ways. Its superpowers of the mind, but i don't think its a bad thing, And the show has an intresting twist on that,-its coming together.

Rose McIver is finding her character. People have said the show is just Veronica Mars with a light dusting of the undead-but well in something in her delvery gives it more. Shes both not as hard as her, and for a charcter who uses superstrength-not as strong. But also not as vulnerable. As the villian puts it "i would just jump off a bridge now-but i am 95% sure i would survive it"-and that kind of aura works for her. Her superpowers make her able to survive the world-but shes a little unsure still of there ability to make the world better- and find some measssure of joy. But she wants to and the end of this episode sadly puts it maybe she can't.

What struck me-is compared to something like the Flash or Agent of Shield, or even something like Melroise place-this isn't a particuarly expensive looking show. This is lower tier network TV-and its not bad for it. If nothing else the Cinemtography of a kind of flat desaturated colors mixed with ocasional color spaces works for it. It can't create CGI Supergirls or any of that-but it can have very good writing, a kind of witty premise and have actors who i think no one has ever heard of, do good work. Its something.

but the critique i get from here and online-when it turns into an action show its not that great-well this episode is a little better The action at the end is brief, but not badly done-she levels a guy something good. If the first episode felt like it was going for something, grand ,this one does the basics well, which is perhaps the trick of it. I would say the ending perhaps feels a touched rushed-but well second episode jitters. and an early scene with the evil zombie does a great job of building up dredd.

So yeah i would strongly recomend this if your In America.

I have to agree: I'm enjoying this. More than I thought I would.

You can feel a bit of the Veronica Mars vibe. The label does fit a little, but it's also it's own thing. Though, cynically, I think "smart female lead that narrates to the fourth wall" is what makes you think of Veronica Mars. There just aren't that many smart female lead shows, and when you add in the monolog, well, you get drawn there, doubly so since it's the same creator. And, in the end, the first season of Veronica Mars is pretty damn excellent. If this show has that level of writing, character development, and planned arc, it should get even better. Wonder if we'll get a Veronica Mars crossover. Well MORE VM crossover, we've already had one actor appear in the Pilot.

I do like the little twists of picking up skills and traits. I'm wondering how long they stay around? Permanent? She seemed to have beaten the kleptomania and some of the sensual overload/sex drive of being an artist, but she WANTED to get ahold of those. People can beat those compulsions normally, it seemed even easier for her once she figured it out and paid attention. I wonder if she can still speak Romanian or paint, that is skills over behavior. And will her appreciation of music and the arts remain?

I do hope that the show doesn't rely upon action -- it proved in the second episode that they can bring the focus off her doing action for most of the episode, and even the bad zombie only used action briefly (and very cheap to film) at the end.

But it's a good mix: attractive lead, humor, some drama. I hope it keeps being as fun as the first two episodes.

I like Castor's comment on it being lower tier network TV. It's not suffering for the budget it's using, it's using it's budget well. Being contained isn't always bad: it makes you rely upon what you DO have. And you could do far worst things that focus on good writing, and writing episodes that film cheaply. I'm suspecting that like a bunch of shows with good writing, the inevitable Bottle episode will end up being one of the best episodes, despite being made to save on the budget.

It struck me that with there action i think more then doing kicks, or punches or any of that-i think there main idea of what action it does have is to build up the concept that Zombies are Dangerous.

.Most Supers will punch across the screen lift you by the throat, and the next scene your fine. Even on The CW vampire shows(multiples) there is a sence that combat is kind of weightless super fights.Comics do this ll the time of course and movies. Two seconds with the incredible hulk should be dead. This isn't bad-hell my stuff are hardly innocent of it, and there is some virtue i think into a kind of comicbook version of letting you apreciate the effects and the idea of the violence more then wallowing in its consquence

Izombie is early, but there is a good sence already developing of that-when we see zombies go at, they go at it. They are superfast creatures who want to attack you and eat your brains, and nothing can really stop them-at least not for long- not wepions not walls- and even if there not really trying(as liv does in the second episode) they can break your noise and make you bleed-which technically makes her more powerful then the hulk most of the time.

As i mentioned there is a long scene in the second episode where the shows villian talks to two goons who want to have him meet there boss. They think hes at there mercy-we as the audience knows better, and i kind of really liked how the show just kept building tension around it-until well he killed them in a very bloody bit and then presumibily ate there brains.

Which is perhaps a trick. As main character also has these superpowers, i think there trying to establish that when the action happens its a really horrible scary thing, that any second c she could eat the bad guys brains-when she goes full Zombie(as the show wants to call this) she can kill you. However...well shes the hero of a TV Show so probabbly not. However so far there making a good effort to seem like this is hurting people, and to degree her- She does want to eat living brains and she doesn't want to hurt innocent people(and one of the clever bits of the second episodes is that the violence actually ends up not involving the murder of the week-hes just a creep-albeit a handsome 1/4 Cherokee Creep with a mouth that looks like it just ate a peach[show is good with words) but she doesn't even really want to hurt him. But she does..

But shes also a character who goes haloween Haunted houses and puts on green fake zombie makeup to entertain kids .

This is different then Say Buffy whose DNA is somewhere twice removed in the shows concept.Buffys main trick was killing unambious monsterious bad guys. Liv Deals with normal people-but well shes the monster really- and she knows it. It does create an interesting power dynamic which the show i think is kind of building- cause when the zombie gets out, its more powerful then anything in this shows universe and can create mass chaos, destruction & really bad boat parties. This is threading the needle between action mystery and Horror-and so far its doing a pretty good of making you feel the weight of it-which no matter what the budget can be effective.

I don't want to turn this into a weekly- hey go watch this show thread....

but well go watch this show.

Its devoloping and figuring out how to be both a serial horror show(and the third episode is the first that plays most like pure hororr), a police mystery, and yeah kind of a comedy at the same time.

its got great characters which its slowly figuring out how to use all of them, A really good villian, a winning heroine a better sence of where its going...

and yes for those keeping score a pretty good zombie on zombie fight in this episode thats kind of effective in a kind of gruesome majesty as the show main action bit.

I am liking this more then say i ever liked the Walking Dead..or well pretty much anything with zombies-if for no other reason..then well this is a show about walking dead and zombies that actually about zombies-both in the shambling mounds, and the fun mythology of the show. By actually making a zombie the main character-well it something and It s really worth checking out.

I'm going to give another vote for iZombie.

It's quite fun. Only small smatterings of strength, more smatterings of resistance to injury. And a lot of snarky fun dialog.
