Crisis on Infinite Earths air dates
As spoken about, ad nausem I would imagine by now, on these forums, they are shows written to push an agenda. Supergirl in particular.
Hmm, election happening in Supergirl, I wonder where else an election is taking place soon? "Get out there and vote kids, but only vote for the person Supergirl tells you too vote for!"
Dreamer is worthless. Brainy is wasted. Guardian is/was back. There has been some retread on themes and acting - but it's season 5.
This to a tee. What was the point of introducing Dreamer if you aren't really gonna do anything with the character? Oh, gotta tick that trans box on the checklist.
Brainy I imagine was there to replace Winn as the "tech guy". But again, there isn't really a character there.
Alex Danvers OMG. An interesting character in season 1, with what looked like a deep history with Jonn, nah, shes a lesbian now and thats all. Move along.
Batwoman is even worse. I mean, geez, just look at the marketing and build to it before it launched. "Women are amazing, we can do everything, we don't need no man!"*
The problem with Batwoman is, on top of that message (alienating 50% of your target audience), the show is just complete trash. Crap story, crap characters, and a main character who is a super Mary Sue.
There is literally nowhere for that character to go. There is no room for growth, development, tension, etc. She can be anywhere, do anything, no problem.
Couple that with the fact that you have an incredibly awful actress in Ruby Rose (THE MAIN CHARACTER), who can't even emote past "smug glare", and yup, your show is in trouble.
But never fear, I guarantee the CW will renew Batwoman for 50 seasons in the next few weeks lol

I could go on for a lot longer, but I will stop there.
I know people don't like discussing politics, ideology, etc. and that's fair enough.
But if you want to know why these shows suck, its right there.
Peace.

All I'll say is that if CW is a propagandist (and that's what you are describing), they are really, really, really bad at it. The election is 13 months away and they are currently losing chunks of their primary demographic.
Which means if they continue on this path they will also lose advertising revenue (the show earns via their market share) over that period and have less influence (fewer viewers) and will probably get cancelled.
Like all corporations, CW has a fiduciary responsibility to their stock holders, which is managed by their Board. They are going to have to prove these shows make money to keep them on the air. And with Amazon and Disney and Apple about to flood the Net with immense amounts of new streaming shows, CW is going to have a very tough time the next year or two. Too tough to carry shows that aren't earning their way.

Oh I totally agree with you Shadar. They are terrible at it.
In my mind though, I don't see it changing. If anything, I would imagine they would double down and try and "spin it" in the shill media. I mean, Batwoman had appalling ratings for a:
1) Comic book show
2) A NEW show
3) Linked to already established shows
By comparison, Arrow got around 4 million viewers on its debut; Flash got around the same, and even Supergirl pulled in 3 million. Yet all the articles after the pilot of Batwoman came out, spun it as "that's a solid rating".
The truth is, no its not a "solid" rating. And it will go down. The pilot nearly always gets the most views, primarily down to the "curiosity factor".
And certainly with Apple+; Disney and a whole host of other streaming services coming out soon, yeah, that is a very real problem for the CW.
Peace.

Yea, those #'s for a new show are pathetic. Supergirl's ratings pretty much scream that they show is on the wrong track and that people aren't even giving it a chance this season. I've yet to watch it. I was told by a friend that I "had" to watch the first Flash episode ... and it was ok, meh. And I didn't know why he wanted me to all the way until the end ... when Cisco queues up the music for the black hole. (I'm a huge fan, and stupid though the entire thing was, I was smiling throughout that. Probably not enough to make me keep up with Flash but...)
And there is too much competition. I've got a lot of things in my queue to watch, and all of it's better than Supergirl. If Supergirl, wasn't _Supergirl_ I'd have no interest, but my obsession keeps me paying attention.
I'd rather watch Titans S2 than Supergirl, and Titans S1 was far from perfect. Honestly, someone posted about the anime Magical Spec Ops Girl Asuka, which led me to picking up VRV and watching a LOT of anime. They tend to be silly-fun,and that goes a long way with me, I don't need grim-dark entertainment when I can turn on the news. I honestly have no interstest in the new Joker movie for that reason, but will probably force myself to go see it so I can judge it for myself. Personally, I'm mad that I forgot that this week was the Fathom Event for Jay and Slient Bob Reboot as that is probably two hours of STUPID STUPID STUPID fun. + Melissa Benoist in a super-heroine costume with Pants as Kevin Smith did it first.)
Which is why Doom Patrol and Legends are my favorite DC shows (and Legends was losing it's steam last year.)
Crisis OTH,I'm tuning in for it. (CW: Please don't screw it up.)

That was one of the best and most hilarious Flash sequences I've seen the entire series

I love the show, though it certainly has gone downhill a lot since the amazing 1st and 2nd season imo.
Twice I recommend watching Joker for NO other reason then Phoenix's performance. It really is a masterclass. The film is meh tbh, but his performance elevates the whole thing.
Totally agree that there is a LOT of competition now, even in the comic book genre. I'm not really a grim and dark man either tbh, but The Boys is pretty good. Plus, you have Disney's Mandelorian coming out, which looks great imo.
Also, I'm really digging Stumptown atm. LOVE Cobbie Smulders, and will forever be bummed out that she never got to play Wonder Woman in Whedon's planned version. But the series is also good fun, based on the graphic novels bu Greg Rucka for you comic book nerds

Peace.

I’m sorta surprised they waited until this season to pull that stunt on Flash... but it will be one of my favorite scenes for the show for it’s entire run. Flash does seem to have a lost some of it’s spark. Not sure what it is. When thinking about that scene I thought “That’s the most Cisco thing Cisco has done in a long while...” and somewhere in that thought is a thread on what’s wrong with Flash I think. Maybe it had too many characters on the show, a bit too much drama, and too much focus on bringing Barry down. They do seem to be shedding people. (No Wells this year?)
Stumptown is on my list due to Smulders! I hadn’t read the Greg Rucka Graphic Novel but it’s sitting on my desk right now. Rucka is generally pretty good, And I do like non-superhero comics (Brubaker’s Criminal is really good). Maybe I’ll queue Stumptown up this weekend. (Rucka also seems pretty pleased with the show and the casting and that also makes me think better of a show when they can make the creator happy.)
Pheonix is really the only reason I think I can watch Joker. He’s always awesome and it looks like he is doing his job on the trailers. Stumptown might win over it this weekend though.

I loved the Boys. It’s the right blend of dark/humor/twisted/creepy. (I”ve also read the comic back in the day.) That’s saves it from feeling too dark to me.
I found a lot of Supergirl last year depressing... a show about Supergirl should not be depressing!! Now Lex. Lex was fun.
In a conversation about misc things, a friend and i bought up a Jim Carrey movie that is years before Ace Ventura, the movie “Once Bitten”. I just remember it being wonderfully silly (very 80’s). Things not only have to compete with new stuff, but with the advent of Netflix/Hulu/WB/Amazon, a lot of old shows and movies are now easily available and ... spending time watching them might be more enjoyable than watching something new. And while I thought that I was pretty good at keeping up with all the things I liked, I constantly find some movie/tv show that somehow slipped by my radar back in the day, or is finally now streaming.
I remember i was upset that the only copy of WIllow I could find was a bootleg import from Germany ... until they re-released it for it’s anniversary. That’s a movie it’d tell anyone who hasn’t seen it to watch for the sheer fun (and Joanne Whalley!). There are 100’s of things like that.
