Wonder Woman premiered this day in 1975.
Lynda Carter was absolutely perfect for the role and did a Wonderful job.
For 1975 the show was very progressive without beating people over the head.
A super fun show. I own the DVD set and still watch it on Me TV Saturday nights.
The debut movie retells her origin story quickly and clearly.
A perfect example of how to do it.

WW was a good example of 1970’s thinking and entertainment. That’s my favorite decade given I was in my 20’s during most of the decade, and I think most people remember their 20’s fondly.
But more than that, it was a time when the world was changing fast as the insanity (and promised freedom) of the bloody 60’s was morphing into what would become the repressive 80’s. The 80’s were a wasteland (IMHO) and the 60’s were nuts, so the 70’s was a reasonable period in between with amazing music and shows and movies, Star Wars started in 1977 and Alien in 1979 and they changed everything when it came to SciFi in movies.
And WW gave us the first look at what a great superheroine could be like on TV. Unfortunately, it took an awfully long time before a major superheroine would return to a long running TV show. Which makes my memories of the 70’s all the more poignant.

How clearly I remember watching it as a (pre)teen, desperately trying to hide my erections whenever she performed a feat of superstrength!

I first saw Wonder Woman season 1 and loved her, especially when she used her strength! But when Season 2 hit with the new costume and in the episode "Man Who Could Move The World," she ripped the giant steel locks apart on the vault door, I was done for! Soon after that I began making my own steel bars from black garden hose stuffed with bendable coat wires. Wearing a pair of satin gym shorts from 1978, a gold belt and silver homemade bracelets, I would bend those bars, hearing the screech of the steel and the wonder strength sound in my imagination. I then made a window jail bar set like Queen and The Thief and would bend those bars apart and then back together and say the dialogue just like in the show. I was committed to the experience!
