Yup if it's in CW, it'll just be yet another soap opera about relationships. smh

Stargirl on CW was a refreshing surprise.
Light hearted but surprisingly dark in places.
I think it was the short season, they didn't have time to fool around or insert preachy filler episodes.
They also didn't shy away from their comic book roots i.e. the characters wore costumes and worked to protect their secret identities.

Never understand all the vitriol on this forum towards the CW, especially for shows that haven't even aired yet.  Listen, I have crits about the way they handled Supergirl as well (with all the politics), but if not for the CW and Greg Berlanti, we probably wouldn't have any superheroines on TV.  Not to mention, some of them -- like Stargirl -- are pretty good shows!

If OUR community cannot support Wonder Girl or The Powerpuff Girls -- or at least give them the benefit of the doubt -- who then?

I get what you are saying Lfan.

But i think most of criticisms of the CW (justified imo) are valid.  To be fair to the CW, most of their shows USED to be good.  The first 2 seasons of The Flash are great imo. And some ppl say the early seasons of Arrow were really good.

They have ALL, however, taken a turn for the worse though.  Supergirl in particular.

Stargirl, the shining light which was genuinely great imo (still had some flaws), was NOT a CW show.  Its success is due to Geoff Johns hand, as well as being on DC Universe, allowing it have a larger budget.  Will that last with its move to the CW?  Who knows.

As for Wondergirl - I have no idea who the character is.  But when you have to start the article highlighting the ethnicity of the the character, well, thats a tell-tell sign of what they are planning.  Like Batwoman and her sexuality.

Will the show be good?  /shrug  My bet is on no, but who knows.

I'll be keeping tabs on it to be fair, but I'm not expecting much.

Just my 2 cents ofc.

Peace.

/K

I don't think they are making their shows for our community. But your point is well taken... any superheroine show is better than none.

For me, it's just the remorse at knowing that the same budget, characters, etc. could have been used to make something absolutely awesome that would truly blow us away in this community.

But instead...

Speaking to what lFan said, I've had plenty of good times with the CW shows (specially The Flash) so I'l probably give this a chance. Even if their shows tend to fall off horribly and become unwatchable after some three seasons, they usually have a good start

I’m not really familiar with the character and probably won’thave a chance to watch it for ages anyway (I don’t have Sky so unless it pop up
on Netflix or Prime it’s going to be a while).

But it does sound interesting and I agree with Ifan thatany female superhero show is good news. Whatever you might think of Supergirl
it has certainly proved that shows staring superwomen can be successful, and the more shows get made (and hopefully do well) the better.

I get it, guys! Sadly, I'll admit that the Supergirl episodes probably peaked over at CBS -- although Season 4 with Reign was pretty darn good.  Similarly, Flash has been excellent but the last few seasons have been more of a WTF?!  Black Lightning I think also had that appeal but has morphed into something so convoluted, I dunno what it is.

That said, they've all had their moments in the sun, especially Star Girl.  Similarly, Titans I think is pretty good as well.  While that is not CW, it is a Berlanti production.

My initial comment was more along the lines of indicting the show before it even airs just from the press release.  And while I admit leading with the "ethnicity" of the character might be a little eye rolling, it's probably their way of trying to frame it a little differently as not "just another superhero show".  I'm also thinking they might have had to pump up her "different-ness" due to WB's protection of the Wonder Woman brand.

I love Melisa  Benoist and I Would watch her in anything, drama, singing, dancing you name it.  As for the Supergirl show, I cherish every episode.  I never thought that I would live to see a series like this.  I will enjoy as long as I can. Maybe there is too much messaging and the are always powering down Supergirl.  Only “The Team approach” can save the day.  Maybe, just maybe we will get to her save the day by herself!

The article linked in the original post indicates that they're actually basing the show around a character that has not actually debuted in the comics yet. A bold move as for all they know the new character's book might tank, but on the other hand they won't be up against any long-time fans of the character who might get angry about how the adaptation is handled.
