Bionic Woman Spoilers

OK...got these from a variety of sources I know of and have compiled and summarized them accordingly. Overall, the early reports of a "vehicle for female empowerment in the woman's workplace" seem totally like nonsense based on everything I've seen. Sounds like an updated spy show like its predecessors. Keep in mind, nothing is definite and the thing hasn't even started filming yet so caveat emptor. That being said, what I know and have heard of the pilot:

-- New bionic woman (BW) is 24 yrs old in the pilot and played by Michelle Ryan, former British Soap Star
-- New bionic woman cost $50M as opposed to the $6M version (inflation)
-- BW has a bionic eye, ear, right arm, and two legs as well as some "internal" stuff (bionic brain?)
-- There is a scene that shows the bionics being transparent right after surgery which then "adapt" and become opaque and match her skin
-- She gets her bionics after being in a near fatal car crash
-- BW has a rebellious younger sister who is kidnapped/threatened by the bad guys in the pilot
-- Jaime works in a coffee shop (post surgery -- not sure if also pre-surgery)
-- Jaime is under the watchful eye of a team of handlers which include an older female, a Dr, and a security specialist/trainer.
-- Jaime is being sought after by a rogue group of previous generation bionic people (think Gen 12). Their leader is named Sarah who is -- you guessed it -- also bionic!!! BTW, Sarah is a total psychotic bionic bad girl!!
-- According to the stuff I've seen, MAJOR uber action. Lotsa fighting, ripping of doors and locks, a one-handed gun crush, lifiting a car (Porsche), etc

I also know some specific plot lines so PM me if you want some major spoilers -- or at least what I know.

Peace
ElF

NOTE: Some of these spoilers tend to slant in agreement towards the one DauntingMold posted earlier (www.superwomenmania.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1009&start=15) While I had the same inkling when I read his post that they seemed to discredit how Eick had previously described the show, I can say that my spoilers seem to corroberate his and did NOT come from the message board he posted as his source. Hopefully both our sources are correct.... :)

On the Futon Critic web page, if you type Bionic Woman , it will direct you to a page that lists news resports abou the 2007 piliot and the 2003 USA attempt that were show on FC. There is a list of what appears main characters for the piliot, including Michelle Ryan as Jamie Sommers. The other roles have been cast, only the characters names are listed. Becca Sommers, Dr. Eric Masters and three others. I remember reading somewhere on the net earlier this week after Michelle Ryan was cast that the original piliot script was rewritten. Ryan has said that she is learning martial arts for the role.

So I guess I'd be being to picky if I asked how they are able to lift a car with one arm and two legs. I mean, her back is bionic as well, yes?

Is there any spoilers regarding her learning how to use her bionics (treadmill running, weightlifting, eye test)?

Any word on if she's donning a costume or will she be in everyday street clothes?
I'm hoping for normal clothes.
When does the filming begin?
Thanks

According to some of the stuff I've read, the lead (in fact only) scientist in charge of bionics is Jamies boyfriend. He operates on her to save her life after the car crash and against the wishes of his bosses.[/quote]

Where all these spoilers coming from? Can we access them if we'd like or will we get more spoiler updates?
A training sequence showing some bionic conditioning (in slo mo, of course) would be great.
I tell you, there seems to be a lot of bashing out there concerning this show, but I'm keeping an open mind about it. I'm just looking forward to there finally being another bionic woman on the air.

I know what you mean, it doesn't appear theirs much love on some message boards for this project. I'm keeping my fingers crossed cause i'd certainly like to see it. As for the spoilers, I posted a link in the other Bionic Woman thread for my source. It stated the spoilers were from a website called showfax.com. On that site are some pages that are supposed to be from the pilot script.

Some more Casting News:

THE BIONIC WOMAN (NBC) - Will Yun Lee ("Thief") is the latest addition to the drama pilot, a re-imagination of the 1970s series with Michelle Ryan in the title role. He's set as Jae Kim, who's further detailed in the casting notice as follows: "Early-Mid 30's, handsome, skilled, wiry and lithe. He is a Field Leader who is second in command to Jonas. He can't believe Jonas is even considering making Jaime a field agent, but feels compelled to prove Jaime's skills to her, which he does by attacking her with a knife. She handily deflects him, stunned by her own abilities."

The description matches the stuff I've seen about that character (Jae) and Jaime's abilities and also seems to confirm the pseudo-OSI retooling of the character.

I'm glad they are doing this. However, I think it's stupid they are not making her a full-body bionic. It makes NO SENSE to have a person lift a a car, and such, without a whole scope of bionics besides her arm.

Well, isn't that how it was in the old version?

I suppose full-body bionic would be a real cyborg. Maybe they're nervous about going there.

On the stv website they have a video interview with Michelle and she mentions that next week she's going to Vancouver to begin filming. She doesn't let much leak out about the details. Apparently the script is being revised. Hopefully we'll get some set pics sooner than later.

I saw the interview, She does look cute. I thought the production was going to start on March 19. They still need to cast at least four, maybe five roles. I the series is picked up, the shows production could leave Vancouver for LA. NBC may not like the production values in Vancouver and after seeing the two hour telefilm/piliot could force David Eick to move production back to the states. The piliot for CBS Criminal Minds was shot in BC, but when it went to series it was moved to LA. Anybody hear any casting rumors regarding the other roles? Anybody beside Will Yun Lee?

No word on any more casting choices, but here are the casting descriptions for all the other characters you mention:

'Jonas Bledsoe', 50s-60's, forceful and not above lying to get what he wants. He is the ruthless leader of the secret government agency that turned 'Jaime' into a 'Bionic Woman'. Though furious with Eric for wasting $50 million worth of classified, illegal technology on "some girl," Jonas decides to use Jaime to track down and retrieve the other Bionic creations who escaped.

Topping his list of fugitives is insane, deadly 'Sarah Corvus', whose violent break-out and subsequent revenge streak haunts Jonas to this day.

After using unscrupulous means to manipulate Jaime into joining his organization, Jonas agrees to her terms and we get the feeling he will treat her with respect and honesty from now on.

'Dr. Eric Masters', 27-31, good-looking, sexy, likeable and devoted, he is Jaime's supportive boyfriend of two months who already knows she is the one. As a young prodigy (finished college at age 15 and became a surgeon at 22) he's a genius in his field - bionics - and the only one capable of performing the illegal, complex surgeries the government has been experimenting with.

When Jaime nearly dies in a car accident, Eric doesn't hesitate using bionic surgery on her, even though this means going against his superiors and breaking every rule in the book. His innovative behavior and past deeds make him a target of deadly Sarah Corvus.

'Jae Kim', early-Mid 30's, handsome, skilled, wiry and lithe. He is a Field Leader who is second in command to Jonas. He can't believe Jonas is even considering making Jaime a field agent, but feels compelled to prove Jaime's skills to her, which he does by attacking her with a knife. She handily deflects him, stunned by her own abilities.
*MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING IS A PLUS.

'Ruth Treadwell', 50s, tough, very smart with a "don't mess with me" vibe. She's head of intel and logistics for Jonas. She explains to Jaime that her bionic surgery also endowed Jaime with built-in programming for split-second reflexes and combat training, and advises Jaime to stop thinking and just be. Because she's respectful, reassuring and straightforward, we get the feeling we can trust Ruth.

'Becca Sommers', 15. Jaime's younger sister. She's a pretty teenager determined to hide her looks under a tough, sarcastic, resentful demeanor. It's clear Becca misses her mom and blames Jaime for not spotting the signs of her mom's disease sooner. Still, beneath her brave, spiteful exterior lies the heart of a vulnerable girl who really does love, and need, her big sis. Her dad took off years ago, and when Becca was 11 her Mother died leaving Becca in Jaime's care."

I've seen that already. It looks like they're casting people down to the last second. Bad omen or good omen? In the recent interview Michelle Ryan did, she said they were revising the piliot script.

With most pilots, from what I've seen and read its often standard operating procedure to work casting down to the last minute after the star is attached cause pilots are often competing and negotiating against each other for cast members.

I heard Jordana Brewster was on 5-6 pilots' hit lists (incl. Bionic Woman) before she finally selected Mr. & Mrs. Smith.....

According to The Futon Critic website, actresss Mae Whitman has been cast as Becca Sommers. This might be the first hints into what kinds of revisions were made. In the original call sheet Becca was listed as being 15 but Whitman is almost 19 years old.

I hope they stay with the younger version of Becca, I like the idea of Jamie having as much trouble with a rebelious teenage dependent, as she does saving the world from terrorists. It may not be an original idea, but it doesn't mean it's a bad one. If they make the Becca character 19, I just can't see that plotline working.
