Taiko kicks assests to write short ubergirls stories to. The rhythm patterns lead to abrupt, jarring story flow.
Before that it was "Rise", from the Ghost in the Shell 2nd Gig soundtrack.
Before that it was "Desert Rose", club remix, by Sting.
There was some Enigma in there too a while back.
Carmina Buranna kicks Conan-sized rear (speakers) too. I think I wrote some of my earlier stuff to that.
Metalica S&M fueled my imagination for several months back when some unsuspecting librarian slipped me THAT disk.
I've written to several classical tracks. Creig, Chopin, etc.
Overall, I look for a sound with power, drive, energy, and passion---sweepingly orchestrated, and a beat you can dance to. Pretty much how you'd imagine experiencing an ubergirl in bed.
Country music? Haven't tried writing to that yet. Sounds like the makings of something silly.
I try not to write stories you can't dance to.
Write on.
So...what'd YOU write to?
Love,
White Paw

For the unitiated, I'd recommend the title track of his first solo album "Clandestino" If you don't like that track, don't bother going any further...

They have a great version of "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by the Police.

It's also James and Bidu's song in "Terms of Enhancement," as explained in an appendix to that story.
* Of course, we also used some pop classics like "Love Me Tender" and "Thee I Love," plus show tunes like "So In Love with You am I" and "Speak Low."

Freight Train Snooze Alarm
“Woke up this morning.
Got myself redone.
Mama always said I’d be the
Chosen One
One in the zillion.
Got that yearn to shine
I was born under a red sign
That rose shine in my eyes.
Woke up this morning
All the love was gone
Papa never told you
How your right is wrong
You’re looking good baby
You were feeling fine (shame about it)
Born under a red sign
Blue moons in your eyes
Woke up this morning
Turned world upside down
Fools ain’t been the same
Since my blues walked into town
Woke up this morning
Got yourself a gun (shame about it)
One with the shotgun pump
It was two on one.
When you woke up this morning the old me was gone. By half past ten your head was going ding-dong. Ringing like a bell from your head down to your toes, like a voice telling you there was something you should know. Last night we were flying but today you’re so slow—ain’t it times like these that make you wonder if you’ll ever know the meaning of things as they appear to the others; wives, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. Don’t you wish you didn’t function? Wish you didn’t think beyond the next paycheck and the next little drink? Well you do so make up your mind to go on, ‘cus when you woke up this morning everything I am was gone.
Woke up this morning
Left a dream in your head (shame about it)
Woke up this morning
Wishing you were dead.
I’m that one in a zillion
I’ve got that shotgun shined
Sent from above
Ms. heat in love”
-White Paw.
To the tune of “Woke up This Morning”--Alabama , current soundtrack to "The Sopranos" . No, I'm not a fan. I've never watched an episode. Us genuine wise's knows the tune's debut from Christopher Walken 's limo scene in Abel Ferrara 's " The King of New York ", 1990.
Yeah. I'm postmodern neo-old school urban twice revival'd street... thug. The old school's dirt ain't new no more and the new school's sold out on options already.

Members of the orchestra -- including the conductor -- were recruited as children from Venezuela's worst slums by an idealist who thought he could save them from a life of poverty and crime by teaching them to love and play music. The orchestra takes the very best, of course, but there are tens of thousands of others leading decent and productive lives today, even if they didn't become professional musicians.
