Workshop 1.12: Villainess Month

So let it be written! Deadline extended to May 11th. I currently have TWO stories received so far (G7 and Berkhart), hopefully more to come (especially by extending the deadline!)

ADMIN

How about the 11th? That's only another couple of days, and it would give writers another weekend. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does most of his writing on Saturday and Sunday.

I'm always in favor of a little extra time, as I'm such a slow writer, so I'll vote in favor of the 11th instead of the 8th, too. Though I'm not going to be available to work on my story that particular weekend, anyway, so it won't help me any. I just hope I have enough to submit by the 8th, either way. I didn't get as much as I'd hoped for done this past weekend.

So, this may seem silly, but what time is the deadline on the 11th? And what time zone? I wish I could work on my story this weekend, but I'm going on a weekend trip, so I won't have computer access between Friday morning and Sunday night.

I can probably finish enough of the story to submit by Thursday, but I'd like to get as far as possible with it, and still have some time to proofread before submitting. So I was thinking maybe I'd print out what I have by Thursday night to take with me on my trip, spend a little time proofreading with a red pen over the weekend, and then type my changes into the computer Monday evening after work. I just want to make sure that won't be too late to submit the story.

With the deadline extension, I now have a personal conflict so if you need a few extra days to tidy things up, go ahead. Results prob won't be posted till later that week sometime.

Ok, thanks. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish one more chapter tonight, which I wouldn't have time for if I was proofreading tonight, also. This way, I can print what I've got, proofread over the weekend here or there, and finish typing it up Monday evening before sending it in.

So four stories have been submitted, by ...

... GeekSeven [ #1: The Celebutante ]
... Berkhart [ # 2: The Rap Star ]
... Anon [ #3: The Mercenary (?) ]
... Marknew [ #10: The Dumb Blonde ]

YAGS says he'll be submitting a story (or at least a substantial portion of a story) based on #7 [ The Bully ] ... and I should be able to send in my story [ #4: The Crazy Psycho Bitch ] by the middle of the week (taking advantage of those few extra days).

Not a bad showing. What about the others? ace, angels, Lfan, Brad -- how are yours coming along?

Argo, sorry to disappoint you, but the deadline is tomorrow, May 11th. The extension was merely from 8th to 11th of May.

Yeah, Admin seemed to be saying we had a a couple of extra days, but didn't give an exact deadline. I just got home from my weekend trip about an hour ago, and I didn't get any proofreading time while I was there. Plus, I wanted to add another chapter that's about half written, so I'm hoping I have at least until Tuesday night. I'm too tired to work on it now, so if we don't have that extra time, I might be cramming tomorrow evening to finish.

It's not a complete story, and it may not even be on-topic. but an excerpt from my Ubermadchen story is up at julievelor.tripod.com/UM/um1.html .

Admin, if it's not appropriate feel free to not include it in the list.

Story submitted - 9 chapters of it, anyway. I really wish I had time to finish this story before the workshop deadline, since I've got a big finish in mind, but that would take at least another month. What I've got so far is only about half of what I've got planned for this thing, and it's taken me nearly a month to write this much.

I'll definitely be curious what type of reaction I'll get, since this story is so different than normal for this site.

Good, probably not appropriate for this works shop but very good nonetheless. I hoper to see some more of this storyline in the future.

Yeah, I realize the excerpts don't do a good job of showing her bad side as she rises to world domination. While I do have quite a bit more written, I just don't have anything coherent and appropriate just yet.

I do hope to start posting this story. The biggest stumbling block is the beginning; I'm finding it easier to write the action scenes than the early background stuff.

I sent my story in late last night -- I hope in time to be included with the others. If Lfan came through, that brings the total up to seven -- not a bad turnout. I look forward to reading them! :D

I have seven stories received so far and have not found time to update and edit them for posting yet (big deadline at work this week). If I do not get them up tonight, I apologize! I will try my best to post them as soon as my schedule allows. I have not read them yet, but am encouraged by the totals. SO, if anyone has last minute edits, feel free to send/re-send, they'll most like get included. Also, any other stragglers who missed the 'deadline', take this as an opportunity to get them in now!

LOL. You might be a little late by then... barely.

I turned mine in Monday before the deadline, intending to do some edits during the week, but I just haven't looked at it since then. I was in such a rush to finish this thing for weeks before hand that I completely burned myself out on writing from trying too hard. I suspect a lot of what I wrote is probably complete garbage, since I haven't read or edited it, and I wasn't even paying that much attention to what I wrote the first time. I was just trying to get to certain sections of the plot, without doing a good job of making every part interesting. I'm sure this is probably my worst story ever, and I'll probably go back and re-write large chunks of it from scratch if I ever do continue this story.

I seriously thought about asking admin to just pull mine from the workshop and not share it, but I figure I'll go ahead and leave it, just to see what kind of feedback I get. I'm still curious as to what you all think of the concept, even if the execution is truly awful.

It is very late here, and I'm still in the midst of finishing the update pages, but for those that would like to read the submissions, you can read them here: www.superwomenmania.com/storybank/index-d.html on the Date Deposited sort page. The other pages will be updated and the poll created tomorrow sometime when I can spare time. Thanks to everyone who submitted their stories.
