SGInc Story Workshop 1.6 is on!

This one I will definitely take part in. And at some point, I'll sit down and put together my compliments for the stories in the workshops I've been missing. Life got interesting again, not so much energy or desire to be involved in writing or chatting or emailing. 'm sorry.

[sarcasm]I really hope this post isn't lost under the avalanche of other posts on the forum this week...[/sarcasm]

Workshop 1.6 (Ubergirl changes sides Good<>Bad - no word limit)

Well, counting on my fingers, I make the deadline one week from today, I think. Probably. I've got a few notes scribbled down that could become an entry... Anyone else taking part?

Not in this workshop ... but I'll be submitting an "off-topic" story in a few days, I hope.

And I plan to submit a "supergirl to the rescue" short for Workshop 2.3. (Funny you should use the word "avalanche" ... :wink: )

I researched a story and have the plot more or less worked out.
I have actually started it. Due to time constraints, I am looking at 2000 to 3000 words tops. I will have to abadon my photomanip effort (no loss there I assure you) to get it done. If I can make some real progress on it Sunday Eve after all the out of town folks have left, I might be able to get it in on time (or at least come up with some whiny sad pleas for more time).

If you are looking for motivation, how about this. If I win by "default" , I promise that the next topic will be a halloween one where an ubergirl rescues a cat from a tree!

But we've already had one "rescue" theme for the latest short workshop. Ace, you wouldn't do that to me, would you?

I'm out. I was thinking of maybe entering the short workshop, but with everything going on, I don't even know if I'll have time for that. Sorry.

Just a quick question. When exactly is the deadline on the 30th. If its 23.59 I may be able to finish my entry. Much earlier than that and I'll have to pass on this workshop.

Bah! Its no good. I'm not going to finish in time. I'll post my story when its done but I'd rather have a good (or perhaps mediocre) story to my name after the deadline than a poor one before.

Great we are all in agreement to push the deadline back to this Sunday night! I spent the weekend playing Mr fixit on my garage door, pool valves and shower drain with 4 inlaws on board. I need the weekend if I am going to finish it!

Supergirl stood before Emperor Palpatine, hands on her hips. He fired his energy bolts at her again and again, but she stood and laughed.

"Is THAT the best you can do?" she laughed.

With a twitch of his head, heavy machinery carelessly left around the room launched itself at Supergirl but bounced harmlessly off her invincible body.

"You'll have to do MUCH better than that, you evil man!" she threatened. She flexed her feminine biceps, which rose modestly out of her arms. "Don't be fooled by my lack of familiarity with your Force, or with the slender muscles of my feminine body. My powers are far greater than yours."

"Perhaps," he said craftily. "Your powers emanate from another source. But you have no IDEA of the POWER of the DARK side." He stared into her eyes, his mind penetrating hers, letting her perceive, if only for a moment, the essence of the Sith. "Only a taste my dear, of the power you COULD enjoy, if you came over to MY side."

Her eyes widened. Her heat vision tore through space, igniting a nearby moon with a lightning bolt of power. My Goodness! She stretched out her arms, which suddenly sprouted Herculean muscles, each fibre animinated with her super strength. Why, there was no limit to her power. Superman was such a wuss. And a bore!

"Pal, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

Lets hope the fact that so many people would have missed the deadline by a few days is just a reflection of the time of year (run up to christmas, thanksgiving for the yanks, people becoming unwell) rather than a drop off in interest in the workshops!
