I've long debated writing a WWII novella where superhumans are fighting on all sides, But some of that has been done in the comics, so I need a new angle. But every time I dust off this picture I get motivated again.

I really like the idea of armadas of Allied and Nazi aircraft flying toward each other, with their protectors flying ahead to engage before the aircraft. Japanese, the rest of the Axis Powers, and all of the Allied powers have ubers. Of course, some planes wind up in the wrong hands and are torn apart. Especially if one side's ubers are dominant.

Same story could be happening on the ground. Tank versus tank with a couple of young superhumans deciding the battle, tossing around tanks and other vehicles.

As I see it, some alien power has decided to try to end Earth's wars by sending in their people on all sides. But instead of ending the war, their presence escalates it out of control.

Something like that, anyway.

You know, I take quite some pride in the fact that it not only took the most part of the whole world, but apparently also a bunch of superheroes and superheroines to take down the German campaigns both in WW I and in WW II. That's just fine with me.

Forgot about Thunder Girl- Big Bang's update of Mary Marvel, set in WW2. In later stories, set in modern times, she's an old woman who turns back into a super teenager whenever she says the magic word.

BTW Mighty Female Muscle Comix has Miss Liberty: written and illustrated by The Manic with an entire series of WW2 comics featuring his usual bevy of transforming superwomen, fighting for both Allies & Axis:

Linda was tired of hiding and taking her breaks with the rest of the office staff. They didn't approve of her sexy outfits, exposed belly halter tops, and obvious glasses that were just for show. She went to the roof, did a quick scan and lifted off so fast that a small dust volcano followed her into the air about 10 feet. She flew to the skyscraper that was being built close to her office. She hated it and loved it. Loved that it meant progress for the city and the worms below but hated it because it blocked a bit of her view of the ocean. She had confessed to her mother that she dreamed of knocking it over. Her mother knew that it wasn't an idle dream.

That view was good for a few butterflies... nice.
