Pink Floyd's Endless River at the moment. I'm a total Floyd head.

That said, for ten years back in the day, when writing most of the AU, I only listened to Enya when writing. For reasons I can't explain, my inner Muse took most of her flights of fancy with Enya. I was just the scribe, writing things down.

Enya often works great from me, especially of mixed with a bit of Blackmore's Night, but what tend to play in my head most of the time are the Iron Maiden.

"Deadline: midnight July 31st 1026"

I'm a little concerned about this deadline, as my time machine is currently at Best Buy, being serviced by the Geek Squad.

I listened to some Iron Maiden and Blackmore's Night... reminds me very much of Uriah Heep who I loved in the early 70's (the Magician's Birthday album in particular).

Is there a FAQ for how to submit stories for this site? I've got a few that I've written in MS Word, but I am wondering if you prefer HTML or RTF. Plus, I'm not sure what the process is for submitting a story - generally speaking - let alone for this writing workshop.

Is there a page here that lists answers all of these silly questions, and I'm just not seeing it?

I can't seem to see the Spring 2016 Workshop Category in the submission page. Is there a specific category I should use when submitting for this workshop?

I haven't created the category yet. If anyone has the story read, you can send it to me through my email, or submit it through the usual "Workshop submission" option in the top menu and add a "Spring 2016" line at the beginning.

Just a bump to remind all the great people around here that we are about 40 days from the deadline.

Just finished my second draft.

Need to go over it for punch and polish, and I need a new title, but it's getting there...

Probably a dumb question, but for this workshop theme, does the power transfer have to take place between two people? Or can a person receive power from an inanimate object?

If the latter is OK, then I think I'm about half done with my workshop story. :)

A fair question. As far as the usual SWM definition goes a power transfer happens between two characters, but the definition of character can be pretty vast. Maybe you should email me some more deatils so I can tell you if the story is ok or not.

Kind of sounds like a question of does the object have some personality. Draining a wise-cracking crystal ball or transporter accident with Mr. Data both would immediately sound like transfers to me, even if one side is an 'object'.

While we are at it, I'd like to remind all the author to mark their entries clearly as "written for Spring 2016 workshop" to avoid confusion.

Bump to remind everyone.

The deadline approaches...

Submit your entries by July 31st for a chance at glory, kudos, and the respect of your peers!

Mark your entries as "written for Spring 2016 Workshop" so we don't inadvertently misfile them.
