There's no way I can't reply on this kind of story.

This was definitiely up my alley! It's the kind of super woman story I've wanted to write, but never had the ability to get down properly. The uber powered descriptions were great, and I loved the way the girks used their knowledge of the future to further dominate the world.

Great stuff all around, and I can't wait to read your future stories!

Don't be so hard on yourself, Berkhart. Ayami was a lot of fun.

You're probably your own worst critic.

That is the kind of story which I really would love read a continuation... Maybe something like a Superwomen cold war with the subjugated nations trying to build their own superwomen etc etc etc or someone from their own "future" trying to fix the things before the time changes become too powerful to undo

Going ahead is the only one way to go to the future.

Alternate Histories: Pearl Harbor 2.1

Fast forward to September first, 2001. There was a dark cloud of evil that hung over the world, and nowhere was it denser than over what was once the United States. The few people who had survived were following the teachings of the Amish, learning how to live without cars, running water or electricity.

But deep in the heartland of America, there was a group dedicated to trying to free America and the world from the clutches of evil. Their leader was a man known only as the Professor. They had built a network of small shops and labs in underground tornado shelters, being ever so careful to hide their activities from the Dark Trio. Painstakingly, they made alcohol from corn to power salvaged generators which could only be run during rainstorms when
the rain would hide the carbon and infrared signatures.

The Professor knew that today was their last chance. After so many failures, the disheartened members of his group were ready to give up their pursuit of freedom as they all knew that if they continued, their group would be discovered and subsequently gruesomely destroyed as had so many others before.

Either way, the Professor knew that it was over for him. He had absorbed far too much toxic radiation from his experiments, especially this last one. His hair was falling out, he had been unable to eat for three days and his mouth was filled with horrible sores, but still, he soldiered on.

The rain was pouring outside, perfect conditions for the generators that were running at full power. One last time he hit the button on the machine to try to produce the powerful, highly unstable chemical that he needed to make the whole process work. It just had to work this time! He didn’t even bother to stand behind the shield, for if it exploded like all the other times, he would just die that much faster.

The machine whirred and cracked, and he was momentarily blinded by a tremendous flash, but there was no explosion. Could it be? Had the process finally worked?

Putting on his lead lined gloves he picked up the hardened boron bowl and headed for the molds. He could feel his fingers blistering inside the gloves from the powerful radiation as he carried the precious liquid to the three identical molds, adding this, the last ingredient.

Transferring the precious electrical power to the second and final machine, the three molds were bathed in a high power, oscillating electrical field. After three long agonizing minutes, the machine timed out as the professor slumped to the floor.

Near death, his closest friend entered the room and knelt by his side.
“You did all you could”, he said. “We never could have gotten this far without you.

“But it wasn’t enough. I have failed.”

But before another word could be spoken, a tiny cry was heard.

“Maybe not”, answered his friend as he went over to the mold and lifted up one of three beautiful baby girls.

“It is too late for me, Master Splinter”, said the Professor. You must take these girls away from here and hide them until they are ready to face their ultimate destiny.”

“I will raise them as my own”, the sensei replied. “And when they are ready, they will fulfill your dream of returning peace to the Earth. This day will go down in history as the day the candle of freedom was lit once again!”

Under the master’s guidance, the girls developed at an amazing rate, and eight short years later they emerged from the underground of New York to battle the Axis of Evil and restore goodness, sweetness and kindness to the world as The Teenage Mutant Powerpuff Girls!

Years ago when I was a leader for the YMCA, every day at noon the day campers would gather around and eat their brown bags specials and drink their milk while a counselor would entertain the 6-8 year old boys with the next chapter in the never ending saga of “Chatsworth Charlie and the Deadly Man Eating Bonejono Rabbits.”

If you were lazy and had no imagination, you could just recount the story thus far that week, get him out of trouble, and then put him back in. If you had some good ideas, you could bail him out quickly, have some adventures and then put him back in trouble.

At the end of your days tale, the idea was to put him in an absolutely impossible to escape from situation and then stick it to your buddy. The kids would ask, “Well what happens next” and you would answer, our good friend Argo will tell you all about it tomorrow at lunch.

This would give the next “victim” a day to work on the story, and so it went.

What I was thinking here, is that maybe we could have a list of volunteers who would like to write Good Girl chapters along with a list of folks who would like to write Bad Girl chapters.

Taking a page from the WWE, the Good Girls would have the Bad girls on the ropes and then the author could select someone from the Bad Girl list to writer the next chapter and go back and forth similarly to how we used to all put Charlie in Danger and get him out. We could maybe set a time limit of 1-2 weeks for the next “victim” to respond.

First, we need to know what GeekSeven thinks about all this, as it is his story, and he may not want it used for this. Then we can see if there is any interest in doing it.

I'm happy for you to use my story as a jumping off point for anything. I regard anything I send to the story bank as being offered under a Creative Commons remix/non-commercial license. Which is to say, do what you like with it as long as you don't claim the bit that I wrote as your own work and don't sell it to anyone.

I wrote it as a self-contained piece because I wanted to do a series of short alternate history stories around different events, but anybody who wants to take things in a different direction is free to do so.
