I like the concept of Mary as a manifestation of Scotland arising to defend her people.
A while back, I was toying with an idea for the Battle of Culloden, where the last stand of "Bonnie Princess Charlotte" turns into her day of triumph after a visit by a mysterious old woman on the eve of battle. I think your choice of Falkirk was a better one because it comes with a Hollywood-calibre villain in the form of Edward.

A good first story. Hopefully there's more to come.

I decided to write about Falkirk partly because it is one of the lesser known battles of Scottish history (understandably overshadowed by the victories at Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn) and was so badly mangled by Mel Gibson. It is also a slightly less contentious battle than one like Culloden (which was more a dynastic civil war than battle about independence), although the Hanoverian commander (the ‘Butcher’ Duke of Cumberland, Son of George the Second) would make a suitably nasty villain. I also decided leave Mary’s exact origins a bit of a mystery, just like in all the best legends.
I am working on some more stories at the moment but given my past performance I don’t think they will be ready for a long time. I’ve also got stories to work on for Angel Falls along with plenty of other real life projects to work on. I am however working on another Nicola Roberts morph which hopefully I’ll be able to post soon.

I actually started writing this story for the SGI Workshop 1.13, but I ran out of steam half way though. When the Spring 2011 workshop was announced I decided to use it as motivation to get off my backside and finish the story. I used a slightly different technique when working on this story, I wrote the first daft on paper before typing it up, it seem to be effective. I think I’ll try and use this method again in the future.
I've tried that before and I also find it effective, especially for breaking out of a block. There are just too many distractions on the computer...

As much as I enjoyed that movie I admit it was terrible under the historical profile.

Tell me about it, it’s not as bad as some films I could name (such as U-571) but it is still pretty terrible. I head a story that while they were filming the Battle of Stirling Bridge someone asked Mel Gibson why there wasn’t a bridge in the battle. Mel said that it would ‘get in the way’, to which the questioner replied that that was what the English had found out as well!
