Where to post stories?

Where to post stories? was created by YAGS
I've recently begun writing my own series of stories, which are set in the modern world, except that magic has recently returned to the world, after thousands of years with little or no magic. So it's sort of like an X-Men type of theme, where a small percentage of people have powers, although that percentage is increasing rapidly. But many of them are very weak powers, and through the proper study of magic, some of them can gain additional powers and even teach each other to have the same powers. Because the return of magic to the world is recent, people still don't know how to react to those who use their powers openly, but unlike the X-Men, the prejudice isn't as organized, and many people think the magic is cool. Also, there are occasionally supernatural creatures besides humans, like the faerie who stars in the first story I'm writing in the series.

The thing is that I don't really know where the most appropriate place to share my stories would be. So far, I've only written a few chapters of the first story in the series, so I don't have a lot to share yet, but I have ideas for over a dozen other stories set in the same world. The first story is mostly a giantess story, about a 5 inch tall faerie who tricks a human guy into trading sizes with her, then keeps him as a toy. I've posted the first few chapters to some of the giantess forums around the internet, and it's gotten an overwhelmingly positive response, which has encouraged me to keep going with it faster than I'd intended. :) I don't know if you guys here would be interested in that, although there is a "superbreath" type of scene in it, with the giantess knocking the little guy down by blowing on him.

Would these sort of stories, about non-super-strength ladies with telekinesis, teleporting, mind control, body control, shrinking/growing, illusion, invisibility, and other powers (and maybe the occasional super-strength, flying, and/or other stereotypical ubergirl powers) be appropriate here? Would the rest of you be interested in reading these?

For that matter, which forum on this site would be the place for writers to share their work? I see a few forums on this web site for discussing stories, but none that specifically says “Post your stories here as you write them”. Would the StoryBank forum be the place for that? Am I even posting this question in the right place?

All submissions to the StoryBank should be emailed to:
webmaster@superwomenmania.com

A panel will decide if any stories received at this address should be included in the StoryBank. There must be some superwoman/ubergirl content in the story.

Well, that answers the question about how to share the stories.

As I mentioned earlier, I post to some giantess themed forums, also. On those forums, people just post entire stories in forum messages, rather than submitting them to an archive this way, so that's what I'm used to. The archive idea is a good one, though. It means that stories won't get lost in a the jungle of thousands of old posts, because the stories will all be in one place.

Ok, this is the part I'm not clear on. Maybe I wasn't clear enough in how I asked the question. You said that stories must contain some "superwoman/ubergirl content", but you really didn't define what you mean by that. That's pretty much what I was trying to clear up by asking here.

My stories have women with other super-human powers who don't have super-strength. For instance, would a woman who goes around controling people with telekinesis, but is a normal human in other ways, count as an ubergirl? How about a woman whose only magic power is teleportation? What about Kitty Pryde?

That's really what I was trying to figure out. How do the people who hang out on the ubergirl-type sites feel about women who are more powerful than a normal human, but don't have Supergirl powers? Would that type of thing be appropriate here? If not, can someone point me towards web sites where my stories would be appreciated more? I'm writing these stories, and I'm just trying to find a way to reach others who would like them, since I don't have my own web site.

So basically, my question is what's a superwoman? Where do you draw the line?

The general consensus is that part of the "ubergirl/supergirl" concept is the physical superiority. So that there's no confusion, for the StoryBank, that must include superhuman strength and invulnerability.

In cases where there is doubt regarding a story's suitability for inclusion in the StoryBank, the panel's decision is final.

Ok, thanks for clarifying. I get the feeling I'm going to end up needing to figure out how to start my own web site for this, since there doesn't seem to be any place on the web that specializes in my type of story.

I dun wanna overstep my mark here, but why dun you just submit your story and let the panel decide if it is relevant.

I haven't actually finished writing any of the stories yet, for starters. The first one is more than half done, but I'd like to post entire stories at once if they're going in some sort of archive. If people were just sharing stories on the forums, I'd share a chapter at a time, as I've been doing on the giantess boards for the first story, then submit the completed story to the archive later.

Anyway, since this obviously isn't going to become the primary home for my writing, I wanted to find that out in advance, so I could continue the search for some place to share all my stories in one place on the internet. It's looking more and more like I'm going to end up having to making my own web site. Now I just need to figure out exactly how to do that, and what sites offer free home pages (Yahoo?).
