What would you want on the front page???
I'm looking for suggestions as to what you would like displayed on the front page of the site, the template has grown in power in the last few versions to such a point that we can display data in tabs, in an accordion, in slideshows and slidesets, there is a lot of new ways for data to be displayed. I've enacted one new feature and it's called sticky menu, you will find when scrolling that the menu will remain at the top of your screen, this only works on the desktop it will not work on a mobile device.
There exists other stuff that will be useful for story writers where they can use different formatting options that are previously not been in use.
So please tell me what you want on the front page of the site, do you want the excellent tracker there, a slideshow of some images, let me know and if there is enough interest I'll make the changes.

Very appropriate for this web site.
One thing I'd like to see is a "Random Story" button, like the "Random Article" link on Wikipedia. Click it and navigate to a story at random within the library. Would be cool, though, if it were configurable by tag, so I would always get something tagged "Super Strength", for example.

I second the idea of the random story, it would be a nice way to introduce people to some of the older/less loved bits from out repository.

Please of there is any other idea, post them here.

I think that having a single story reloading on each access might be better than having a button in terms of look, although it might require more resources.
Other suggestions I think are worth considering are:
- moving the PM notification to a more visible part of the front page
- building the modules based on a similarity logic (i.e. forum posts on the left column, stories and comments on the right reserving the middle part for the random display and the blog)
- evetually change the menu bar to a different style, making it a pop-up sidebar

I agree. The floating menu should never be more than one row high. It should pull things into dropdown menus as necessary to maintain that.

Well, I believe that the might rather soon-ish.

Very nice, but not quite what I had in mind. I was thinking something like a side tab that scrolls down along the left side of the page, with the menu poping out when you click it.fats wrote: I've made some changes to the menu, is this what you are talking about.

If you need to free up some space:
Instead of having the banner across the top taking up 1/4 of the page just put a logo in the upper left corner.
You can put items like the login button and donation button up there.

This is how it looks on my laptop (1600X900).
Maybe an arrangement like this?
Not sure how that would work with the floating menu, but it would free up a lot of real estate when you first hit the page.

I also like the current masthead. Perhaps it could be shaved off the top (just above the superheroine's head) and bottom (just below her feet), to make it less tall.

I also wonder whether you could post a link to whichever story has not been visited for the longest period of time (although for all I know, search bots make lots of visits and may make the distinction meaningless).
